Happy Valentine's Day!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Valentine's Day.

Late last evening I decided that I could not possibly make the number of chocolate hearts that my son wanted for his classes for Valentine's Day.  Not one to admit defeat though I opted for something that if I just got up a little early (okay an hour) this morning I could still pull off; marshmallows.

TAH DAH!!!! Two pans of marshmallows were cut up, sprinkles added and dusted for off to school.  As usual they were a hit.  The recipe is from Butter Baked Goods and is my all time favourite marshmallow recipe.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Spring Forward Weekend

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Yesterday was a crazy busy day but a really good one!

After getting up early we were off to swimming lessons.  Last one of the semester!

On the way home we stopped for lunch at McDonald's with the coupon book.

Back to the house to get the marshmallows ready for my son's play date.  All the children were bringing a treat and he decided that he should bring marshmallows.

Marshmallows setting in the pan.

Marshmallows getting icing sugar dusted on.

Bag of marshmallows packaged up for my friend Sharon! ☺  (She LOVED them).

Then we picked up my friend Sharon and headed off to Woodland Quilting to sign up for the Tuffet Class that is being offered.

Getting back to the house I finished packing up the marshmallows for the play date.

Dropping kiddo off it was then time to pick up a few groceries at Costco and gasoline for the car as well since Costco now has Top Tier gasoline and it is still almost 20 cents a litre cheaper than the other gasoline stations.  ☺

After picking up kiddo we came home and had a very relaxing evening.  Today was spring the clocks forward so technically we slept in.

Sharon came over to make green marshmallows for her colleagues for later this week.

After dinner we took the dog for a walk and now it is time to relax with my knitting and get ready for work tomorrow.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Marching Along

Good Evening Internet Friends.

This week has only been saved thanks to a co -worker and her stash of Robax Heat Wraps.  After physio the other day I thought I was going to have to roll home.  Seriously, it hurt that BAD.

However, the heated lumbar support in the Focus on the way home seemed to help.  I mentioned this as I hunched in to work yesterday morning and she offered me one of these from her stash.  I managed to get through the day.  Yes, I walked a little less than usual, and people did help me out some, but I got through the day and on top of that got kiddo to piano, the library and got both the Focus and the GO GO GO Toyota filled up before the fuel price jump.  Hence why we are driving the Focus again!

This evening I limped to the cinema with kiddo and we watched Zootopia.  I loved it!

So, it's Friday already and time for Friday share with the Krafting Crew and I have nothing to show!  Except for the March calendar that I made from my December Paper Pumpkin kit:

TAH DAH!  This is seriously about as creative as I can get this evening.  The heating pad has about worn out and after the movie I spent time in the kitchen making marshmallows for my son's play date tomorrow afternoon as that is what he volunteered to bring!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Well.....because!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Since it is the camping time of year one needs to have marshmallows for making S'mores.  Most people will buy a bag of marshmallows at the store, but alas, I am not one of those people.  The recipe that I use for these comes from the Butter Baked Goods cookbook.  I bought this cook book last summer and am pretty close to having made everything in it.

Yesterday afternoon I set out to make marshmallows.  I even tried to be nice and use Agar as a gelatin substitute for my son's friends who have never had marshmallows due to gelatin.  Well, don't try it, it was a HORRENDOUS failure.  Since I had been defeated, I tried again, but this time used actual gelatin.  My son decided that we needed to have colored marshmallows so he added a bit of green food coloring to the mixing bowl:
Setting over night....

All cut up and rolled in icing sugar.  Ready for camping this weekend!  Tasty..

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Baking Away!

Howdy Internet Friends!  I hope everyone had a restful weekend, I am so excited about this only being a four day work week!
I mentioned yesterday that I was enjoying baking from my new cookbook Butter.  One of the projects I started on Saturday evening, I finished this afternoon.  I made:
If you click on the above link and scroll all the way to the bottom you will find this recipe as well.
The first one I ate I was not sure of, it did not taste like a store bought marshmallow, so I ate another and another and another, and then I realized that these do not taste like store bought marshmallows, they are AWESOME!  Put the plate away where I can't see it for a while.
I think now I will look for a vegan option of gelatin so that my son can take some of these to school, cause they are just so good!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...
