When we went shopping in Great Falls, MT in November, we stayed at a hotel where there was a waffle maker in the breakfast area. Every morning for three days, my son and I had waffles for breakfast and he thought this was just "Top Drawer". Ever since then, he has been wanting a waffle maker.
A few weeks ago, I found one on sale at Sears, used some Sears points, and Petro Points and when was all done paid about $25 for this waffle maker (original price $149.99).
Now, to try making waffles.
First we tried a box of mix - tasted like mix and was really dry. Tried some other homemade versions, but too runny or too dry. Found this recipe and with some changes have an awesome waffle recipe:
Not Awful Waffles:
mix in bowl together:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
- mix in another bowl:
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups milk
6 tablespoons non hydrogenated margarine (melted)
- whisk wet ingredients together then add dry ingredients
- beat egg whites until stiff peaks and then fold into other mixture
- cook in waffle maker as per manufacturer's instructions
Enjoy!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...
Kathy
