February Quilt Calendar

 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!  xoxoxoxoxoxo
This year I have decided to participate in the Block of the Month Calendar program offered by Sew Divine.  These monthly blocks are part of the Patchabilities Monthly Mini's set.  The main reason I chose to do this set was because they have a Canada option for the month of July.  GO CANADA GO!!!! (I digress.....).

These blocks come with the pattern and fabrics but what makes them "Top Drawer" in my world is that there are seasonally appropriate top banners for the frame to coordinate with the months (this month has the hearts at the top, however, my son pointed out that they look like fish skeletons drawn next to cats or racoons in books - and they kind of do), and additionally there is a stick of a white oil based painted that was used to stencil in the "hugs & kisses".

Now, there is a brush included in the kit for which you are supposed to brush the oil paint into place, but I have a hard time following directions - way too over rated I think.  So, I took the paint stick and rubbed over the stencil until the letters were as white as I thought they should be.  Instructions stated to dry over night before appliqueing the next day which seemed reasonable since this was of course a red eye craft.  Next day, still wet, and same for the next week!!!!  Note to self, start earlier next time, as I have no intention of spending the better part of my day applying paint stick with a brush.

January Quilt Calendar

This is the January block for the Count on It calendar collection by Nancy Halvorsen.  When I decided to join up late for this block of the month program last May I had good intentions to have all of these, done.  How long could they take - they are only 11 1/2" square finished size?  Well, as of today I have June, September, October and now January done.  I will try and get February done before I return to work here in the next few days.  Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!  I hope that so far the new year has been good to you all, and that not too many resolutions have been broken or modified yet...  For once I am ahead of the crafting deadline.  I actually completed this calendar in November of 2011.  This calendar was a class taught by Wadean at Scrapbook Memories & More in Sherwood Park.  I love this store, they really do have the best products, the staff are all helpful and friendly, and Wadean has awesome projects that she designs.  So, when I saw this one, I had to do it.  The cream areas on each page are for photo mounts, and the good thing about doing it in November was I had the time to get the photos done and put in so that today it is already on the wall.  Hope you all have a wonderful 2012, and Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Another Advent Calendar

I LOVE Advent Calendars.  I am not sure what is so exciting, the count down, or the tiny treats (probably the treat).  This version I made a couple of years ago with random papers and stickers I had, and again was based on the boxes of Karen Foster.  I found it the other day in my Christmas stuff and of course it had to be put out on display with the others.  Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Halloween Countdown Calendar

I like to make these fun count down boxes for my son for all kinds of holidays and celebrations.  His prior countdown to Halloween calendar met with some water and got odd shaped.  So, I made a new one.  I get these boxes at Scrapbook Memories & More in Sherwood Park.  LOVE that store, if you have not been, you should go.  I still had pieces of the Designer Series Paper Frightful Sight left over, and used it to cover the box as well as all four sides of the individual boxes.  Then I let my son decorate the box with left over Halloween stickers we had in the house.  Now, the countdown is on.   Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Advent Calendar

This is the BIG project that we made last weekend in Millet!!  Isn't it AWESOME?  It uses the 25 & Counting Stamp set from Stampin Up along with the Peekaboo Frames die cut set.  We were given a 6 x 6 magnet sheet to cut strips to anchor the stamped dates to the muffin pan (Pampered Chef ), however, I chose to use 2 1/2" circles on the back of the stamped dates to make the back look complete.  I cut the Stampin Up magnet sheets with my Cricut at 2 1/2 " and the deep cut blade.  I did the original magnet cuts with a package of Cricut magnet sheet, however, when placed on the pan and turned over the magnets fell off the pan.  Hmmmm, so I called my awesome Stampin Up lady Karina, to see if she had any magnet sheets, and as usual she had what I needed.  A quick trip to her house, and now the Advent calendar is done!
The magnet sheets come in a 3 pack and with very careful cutting I was able to get 9 of the 2 1/2" circles cut out.  Hope this inspires your own creativity...
