Happy Fall Y'all!!!

 Good Evening Internet Friends!

Wow!!  It's been almost a year since I last posted.  Hmmm.  Not sure where the time went, but....

Today I packed up the family and decided to make use of the yearly Parks Canada Pass and road tripped out to Elk Island National Park.  We hoped to chance upon some bison. Today turned out to be a fantastic day to see the bison!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and desire to take a quick road trip.

Easter Sunday

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Happy Easter to everyone.

Quiet day at home of course.  Another Easter at home following local Public Health Guidelines.  Spent some time playing board games, a walk through the community and eating TOO much chocolate.

Did make kiddo a slow cooker turkey breast dinner, crouton stuffing, parsnip/roasted garlic mashed potatoes,  steamed broccoli, and turkey gravy.

After dinner started assembly on my version of the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Challenge.   All made with scrap left overs from other projects.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.   Stay Safe😷.

BEST Day EVER Saturday...

Good Evening Internet Friends!  Super busy of late I guess so no blogging time...πŸ€”

It's been over a year since I went on my only shop local small businesses and Costco (because they are a good employer) mission.  To be honest I don't miss anything that the malls or box stores offer, only shopped the "A" online place once years ago (huge disappointment), and this feels good socially. 😊

On Wednesday got pet supplies from Homes Alive Pets.  Alberta owned and operated with lots of Canadian products, fabulous customer service and a delivery option!  Doggie was sure all of this was for him. πŸ˜†πŸ•

Today I had my hair done with the amazing Michelle at Jolie Hair & Beauty.  She can cut hair that keeps natural curls from going frizzy!!! 🀯πŸ₯³

Got a bottle of the most amazing (lightly scented so no asthma attack) hand lotion that is super soft on my hand sanitizer exacerbated eczema there too!

A not so quick trip in to Sew Divine for some border fabric yielded these finds!!! Cat fabric among other things and my Kona Club for April!πŸ˜„

Put my hand splints on this evening and finished the binding on this table runner.  Picked it up at Sew Divine ...a year...or two ago.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and Stay Safe Out there.  😷😷

Wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.

And "Sew"...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was one of those days where I did a lot of little things but did not really accomplish much.  Tomorrow I will have to get in gear as back to work on Monday.

I did assemble from the pile that I cut of scraps another of the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Challenge Blocks:

There will not be a 52 week challenge this year.  Kinda sad about that as have LOVED using up my scraps for six years  now and turning them in to beautiful quilts.

Doggie has been walked so a bit of knitting now and then off to bed as probably need to have a bed time again....

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there😷.

Happy New Year!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

I hope that y'all had a truly wonderful New Year's Eve Celebration!

No big changes or resolutions in my life.  I plan to continue to boycott big box stores with the exception of HBC because it is an iconic Canadian Brand and does not sell junk; Costco because of how they treat their staff and customers.

Over the past year I have made a conscious effort to only shop the local small businesses in my community.  It has not been an inconvenience and in fact I learned about services that they provide; like delivery of the Made in Canada Salmon Dog Food for my dog.  No more of me having to lug around bags of dog food to feed the Montyster, it's delivered!!

I also focused this year on making do with what I have rather than acquire more stuff.  The money that would be used could then be directed to charity organizations that need it.  This year in addition to the JDRF, and Juvenile Arthritis we will also add the Australian Koala Foundation.

To celebrate New Year's Eve I did do a pick up order of specialty cheese from Paddys Cheese.  I made a cheese, cracker, veggie, fruit, and nut platter for evening snacking while playing board games.  Sooo YUM:

Somewhere after 2100 different neighbours started setting off fireworks and we were able to see lots of them from our back yard deck:

A really pretty evening out!

Today I spent a bit of time in my craft room and made another 2 blocks for the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Block Challenge.  I am "Sew" far behind that I will not even share that with you🀣:

TAH DAH and shall see how many of these I can possibly accomplish before my return to work on Monday.

For dinner this evening in keeping with my theme of "Make Do With What you Have" I made kiddo zucchini, cream cheese, green onion stuffed chicken breast, garlic roasted mini potatoes and a salad mix that was in my fresh fruit and veggie delivery this week:

A bit of knitting after dinner and board game for a lovely January 01, 2021!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow and stay safe out there😷

The Stockings Were Hung....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The weekend is over!!  It was a very productive weekend and I feel a bit accomplished on top of that!!!

Friday was my day off so I got EVERYTHING that needed to be done then so that I could stay home this weekend.

Yesterday was a bit of knitting, and the rest was housework.  Every surface in this house has been washed, vacuumed, dusted, oiled and in some cases more than one of these may have been done!

There is a possibility that I may be ready for Christmas with the exception of baking that will take place on my week off before Christmas.

I started the day by baking a loaf of Banana Gingerbread.  Used up cupboard bananas so a WIN!!

Finished the hand binding on a table runner I made for my brother for Christmas.  I did attempt a machine binding but still not a fan of this type of binding.  Back to hand sewing.....

I picked up a Stocking Quilt Panel at Sew Divine recently with the intent of making the dog and cat their own Christmas Stocking.  The doggie stocking is really cute, but alas my dog is way TOOOOO big for his treats to fit in there.  I decided to use the other stocking panel with a dog on it for him and the smaller stocking will go to our family friend's new doggie who is that size:

Now it is off to walk the Montyster doggie for the evening and then get to bed as tomorrow will be a long day.

Hope this inspired your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there....😷

Boot Scootin' Christmas...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Busy day at work today.  Made a quick dinner out of gnocchi, steamed broccoli, red onion, mushrooms and a cream sauce topped with Better Than Bacon Topper.  Turned out yummy and left overs for kiddo's lunch tomorrow.

After dinner I decided that I should get going on the Christmas table runner I am making for my brother.  Bought this kit several years ago and decided to assemble this year.  The news at dinner also reminded me of the dates to mail things for Christmas delivery so maybe I should get going...

Super excited about this as I used what might be my new FAVOURITE product:  fusible batting.  Sooooo, much easier than quilt batting!!!  Picked this up with help from Pat and staff at Sew Divine.   Stitched around the borders and a few of the boots in the center this evening.  If I do a couple each night I just might be able to get the binding on it this weekend and post before the Christmas deadline for postal services.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing y'all the BEST Day EVER Tuesday out there tomorrow and Stay Safe😷.

Weekend...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Super Busy few weeks and this weekend was too!

Friday after work I did a wee bit of Black Friday Shopping and of course I kept it local and small business!  Stopped at Homes Alive and got doggie some treats for now and maybe some for the stocking as well.  I also found this really awesome silicone form for making frozen doggie treats.  Reading the fine print on the back I found that it is heat rated to 230  Celsius.  After checking with the staff who had not noticed that it was agreed that I could try it in the oven.  Sooooooo, last night I baked some banana/oatmeal/peannut butter treats for doggie.  He loved them:

TAH DAH!!!

Today was laundry, house work, meal prep, walk the dog across the community and then some cross country skiing.

For dinner I made Jasmine rice, poached Atlantic Salmon, steamed broccoli and spring rolls.  Super yum and some left overs for tomorrow:

After dinner and between laundry loads I finished the applique on a Christmas Tree Skirt Pattern Kit that I picked up at my LQS Sew Divine:

Now to quilt and bind it....

Cooked some chick peas as well and made my favourite lunch; green pepper, yellow pepper, orange pepper, red pepper, purple onion, cherry tomatoe, cucumber, feta, and chick pea salad:

Yes, the yellow Tupperware container is older than I am🀣.  It was made in Canada back then.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there,  😷

Let's GO!!!

 Good Evening Internet Friends!

Still NO SNOW here!!!❅❆❄

Super Busy Day today, but very productive.  One of the goals I have been working on is making sure that I support local and especially small local businesses as much as possible.  I started to focus on this a few years back but since the pandemic started I have made a concentrated effort to do this.  Groceries are purchased weekly at Costco due to their rewards system as well as them being an active supporter of charity in the community and treating their staff from what I have heard.  The things that I cannot get there I purchase on Saturday at local small businesses.

First stop today was at Donut Party.  They make amazing donuts that my son just loves.  Their customer service though is kind of lacking as when I asked about delivery during the pandemic the owner refused to deliver to our neighbourhood despite several other small bakeries delivering here twice a week.

There are 2 coconut cream, 2 Pumpkin Cream Cheese, a Birthday Cake and a Snickers donut.  They really are delicious.

Then it was off to Sherwood Park Shoe Repair to pick up my Brooks Tall winter boots that I dropped off for heel repair last week.  These are the most AMAZING boots ever.  With leather outer and shearling lining these boots are always warm!  Unfortunately, they are no longer manufactured and the classic boot is no where near as warm or comfortable.  Looks like I will be repairing these for a while:

At the local tailor I dropped off 2 pairs of scrub pants for hemming and my down fill ski jacket for a new zipper.  Repairing everything for winter!  πŸ§₯

A stop at the Post Office and at the Bottle Depot with recyclables rounded out the day.

On top of this I managed to get 9 loads of laundry done.  As of writing this all linen in this house has been washed!!

Dinner was Lentil Taco's (kiddo hates Salsa and tomatoes):

That's okay....I get more to myself!!!

After dinner I spent some time in my craft room before taking doggie out for his walk.  I decided to finish up the "Sew" Fast Runner that I purchased 2 years ago from The Fabric Addict.  The top was pieced soon after I got it.....but I'm not a fan of the "quilting" process (shhhhh.....don't tell any quilter I said that) and not a fan of the binding process either.  This table runner needed BOTH of these tasks.  "SEW"  I set about doing both of these dreaded tasks this evening:

And DONE!!!  This little cutie is put away for Thanksgiving 2021!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there 😷

And Another One...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!

Good news!!!  No snow yet so far today and really there is not much left of today🀣.

End of the work week felt good as still not feeling well from the "head cold" I managed to get earlier this week.

After dinner I spent some time in my craft room, but super slow moving so it took me a while to get another Bear Paw Block finished.  This is Block 6 I think of 18 that I need to make for the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Block Challenge.  Once again I am using all scraps for this quilt:

TAH DAH!!!

Will get caught up one of these days.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there.  😷

Day of Random...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Today I did a whole bunch of nothing exciting.

Took doggies out for a loooooong walk.   Organized and sorted the junk and mail drawers.  Used up fridge left overs for lunch and still had other left overs for dinner.

Had a couple of appointments this afternoon to attend and with all the Covid protocols in place it literally took all afternoon for two quick appointments.

After dinner and bike ride I sewed on the last row of my version of the 2019 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Jewel Box Block Challenge:

Made this entirely from left over scrap fabric from other quilting projects.  Will likely add a couple of borders to it.  Right now, LOVING the rich colours of this quilt.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Friday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there😷.

And Then....

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Back to work today.

After dinner and a quick bike ride I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room.  Played with my scrap pile and made Block 32 of the 2019 Jewel Box 52 Week Challenge.  Then I decided I would also make Block 3 of the 2020 Bear Paw 52 Week Block Challenge.  Both of the these 52 Week Challenges are hosted by Darlene D'Eon Designs:

TAH DAH!!!

Heading out for evening walk with the doggie.

Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Tuesday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

It's Raining...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Week escaped on me some how...

Yesterday had to run a few errands and today was a STAY HOME Day.  Walked kiddo and doggie around the neighborhood trails and lakes this morning.  This afternoon I finished putting the blocks in to rows of my 52 Week Flock of Geese Challenge Block for 2017.  I did make it larger so I shall say that is the reason it took longer☺

TAH DAH!!!

Watched movies and ate popcorn with kiddo this evening.  A GREAT evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.
