Easter Sunday

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Happy Easter to everyone.

Quiet day at home of course.  Another Easter at home following local Public Health Guidelines.  Spent some time playing board games, a walk through the community and eating TOO much chocolate.

Did make kiddo a slow cooker turkey breast dinner, crouton stuffing, parsnip/roasted garlic mashed potatoes,  steamed broccoli, and turkey gravy.

After dinner started assembly on my version of the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Challenge.   All made with scrap left overs from other projects.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.   Stay Safe😷.

And "Sew"...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was one of those days where I did a lot of little things but did not really accomplish much.  Tomorrow I will have to get in gear as back to work on Monday.

I did assemble from the pile that I cut of scraps another of the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Challenge Blocks:

There will not be a 52 week challenge this year.  Kinda sad about that as have LOVED using up my scraps for six years  now and turning them in to beautiful quilts.

Doggie has been walked so a bit of knitting now and then off to bed as probably need to have a bed time again....

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there😷.

Happy New Year!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

I hope that y'all had a truly wonderful New Year's Eve Celebration!

No big changes or resolutions in my life.  I plan to continue to boycott big box stores with the exception of HBC because it is an iconic Canadian Brand and does not sell junk; Costco because of how they treat their staff and customers.

Over the past year I have made a conscious effort to only shop the local small businesses in my community.  It has not been an inconvenience and in fact I learned about services that they provide; like delivery of the Made in Canada Salmon Dog Food for my dog.  No more of me having to lug around bags of dog food to feed the Montyster, it's delivered!!

I also focused this year on making do with what I have rather than acquire more stuff.  The money that would be used could then be directed to charity organizations that need it.  This year in addition to the JDRF, and Juvenile Arthritis we will also add the Australian Koala Foundation.

To celebrate New Year's Eve I did do a pick up order of specialty cheese from Paddys Cheese.  I made a cheese, cracker, veggie, fruit, and nut platter for evening snacking while playing board games.  Sooo YUM:

Somewhere after 2100 different neighbours started setting off fireworks and we were able to see lots of them from our back yard deck:

A really pretty evening out!

Today I spent a bit of time in my craft room and made another 2 blocks for the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Block Challenge.  I am "Sew" far behind that I will not even share that with you🤣:

TAH DAH and shall see how many of these I can possibly accomplish before my return to work on Monday.

For dinner this evening in keeping with my theme of "Make Do With What you Have" I made kiddo zucchini, cream cheese, green onion stuffed chicken breast, garlic roasted mini potatoes and a salad mix that was in my fresh fruit and veggie delivery this week:

A bit of knitting after dinner and board game for a lovely January 01, 2021!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow and stay safe out there😷

And Another One...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!

Good news!!!  No snow yet so far today and really there is not much left of today🤣.

End of the work week felt good as still not feeling well from the "head cold" I managed to get earlier this week.

After dinner I spent some time in my craft room, but super slow moving so it took me a while to get another Bear Paw Block finished.  This is Block 6 I think of 18 that I need to make for the 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Block Challenge.  Once again I am using all scraps for this quilt:

TAH DAH!!!

Will get caught up one of these days.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there.  😷

Day of Random...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Today I did a whole bunch of nothing exciting.

Took doggies out for a loooooong walk.   Organized and sorted the junk and mail drawers.  Used up fridge left overs for lunch and still had other left overs for dinner.

Had a couple of appointments this afternoon to attend and with all the Covid protocols in place it literally took all afternoon for two quick appointments.

After dinner and bike ride I sewed on the last row of my version of the 2019 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Jewel Box Block Challenge:

Made this entirely from left over scrap fabric from other quilting projects.  Will likely add a couple of borders to it.  Right now, LOVING the rich colours of this quilt.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Friday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there😷.

BEST Day EVER Sunday!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!

I hope y'all had a BEST Day EVER Sunday!

Up early with doggie of course.  Checked on my deck full of plants (still waiting on the sod and landscaping) and found the first fresh strawberry!!!  I ate it and it was DELICIOUS!!!

Bake a Rhubarb Cake this afternoon with rhubarb my colleague brought for me from her mother's garden.

While the cake was baking I knit on the deck with doggie keeping me company.  Mostly I think he just likes to smell the air. 🤣

After dinner I put the borders on my 2017 Flock of Geese 52 Week Block Challenge hosted by Darlene D'Eon Designs:

TAH DAH!!!

My 2015 version of the 52 Week Challenge is quilted with binding on.  Doggie sleeps in front of the fireplace on it daily.

2016 has borders on and ready for long arming.

2017 needs a backing piece and then ready for long arming.

2018 Red and White is currently being quilted.

2019 & 2020 are a work in progress.

Each of these quilts is made with scrap fabric left over from other quilts.  I would like to say that my scrap pile is diminishing......but....alas.....it is NOT!!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there!

Thirty Five and Counting....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

After dinner, some house work stuff and a bike ride I put together another scrap block:

This is block 35 of the 2019 Jewel Box Block 52 Week Challenge hosted by Darlene D'Eon Designs.

Love using up my scraps and making something at the same time!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Wednesday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

It's Raining...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Week escaped on me some how...

Yesterday had to run a few errands and today was a STAY HOME Day.  Walked kiddo and doggie around the neighborhood trails and lakes this morning.  This afternoon I finished putting the blocks in to rows of my 52 Week Flock of Geese Challenge Block for 2017.  I did make it larger so I shall say that is the reason it took longer☺

TAH DAH!!!

Watched movies and ate popcorn with kiddo this evening.  A GREAT evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

Flock of Geese in "Sew" Many Ways...

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Out for morning walk with doggie bright and early this morning and met my new friends:

No baby ducks yet but a few Geese families were out for their morning swim.  SOOOOOOOOOO cute.  A Flock of Geese in the Making!!!

Ran a couple errands today that I did not accomplish yesterday.

After dinner and doggie wash I did spend a bit of time in my craft room.  Made Block 72 of the 52 Week (yes I can count) 2017 Flock of Geese Challenge.  All of these blocks have been made from scrap fabric left over from other projects:

Heading out with doggie now for his evening walk.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.

Marshmallows!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Late last evening while out on doggie walk we stumbled across a marshmallow spill!  Seriously.  Not the first time we have come across this type of disaster.  So as my dog ate them I decided that I should make some.

Used the Butter Baked Goods recipe.  It's my favourite.  The marshmallows always turn out and the recipe is not finicky.

Kept some batter and made a batch of Rice Krispie squares:

For lunch I made Dill Pickle Soup using a jar of home made dill pickles:

Super yum.  Left overs for lunch for kiddo and I this week.

For dinner I grilled Lentil Burgers and we ate on the deck.  Felt like spring out there.

After dinner I made another 6 Flock of Geese Blocks.  Only 3 or maybe 4 more of these little cuties to go before I can start assembly of the quilt!!

Hope this inspired your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Victoria Day Monday EVER.  Stay safe out there.

Ready....Set.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Back to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks off due to my asthma.  It's spring so I always have trouble breathing but because of The Beast out there I was not able to go back until my lungs were back to "my normal".  Not healthy person normal - "my normal".

Today I got all of the vehicles out for their annual service check ups, oil changes and winter to all season tire swaps done.  Spent a lot of time in shuttles and waiting for shuttles,

Did a Costco run for some groceries this evening.

Seven loads of laundry were also tackled in there and as of right now everything is washed and folded and put away!  Kinda proud of what I accomplished today.

In and around all of this I did manage to get another three 52 Week Flock of Geese Challenge Blocks from the 2017 hosted by Darlene D'Eon Designs:

More scraps used up.  😼

For dinner I baked a spaghetti squash.  Grilled halloumi cheese.  Topped the baked squash with grilled halloumi, tomato sauce, and Parmesan.  Yummy as usual.

Now off to take doggie for a walk and then think about bedtime.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Wednesday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there.

WEEKEND!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

It's the Weekend!!!  Okay, not as exciting as usual with the Self Isolation but still.....It's the WEEKEND.

Not that I accomplished a lot, but it felt like the weekend for once and was a relaxing day.

I did make another 4 Flock of Geese Blocks for my 52 Week Challenge for 2017:

Not exactly sure what the total count is right now.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there🙏

And then there were MORE!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

"Sew" today I sewed a few more of the 52 Week Flock of Geese Blocks.  I now have 50 of these little blocks.  All are made from scrap fabric used in other projects and "no" my scrap pile does not seem to be getting any smaller.  Not sure what my fabric does when I'm not supervising it...

I am thinking that 72 may be the final number of blocks for this quilt.  I did do a curb side pick up of border fabric at Sew Divine for this project as well.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Took a looooooong walk today to clear my head.

Felt a little better when I got home "sew" I made a few more scrap blocks for the 52 Week Flock of Geese Challenge from 2017:

Thinking that I might make this a bit larger than the 52 blocks so as to have a bit of a larger quilt.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Friday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there.

Carry On....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not feeling particularly crafty today.  Still trying to sort out how one conducts a farewell from another province via Covid restrictions...

I did make a few more of the Flock of Geese Blocks for the 52 Week Challenge of 2017:

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Tuesday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

Two Steps Forward...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Today I sat down again with my scrap fabric basket.  Somehow that thing does not seem to get smaller.  Sigh.....

I cut up a bunch of the pieces in to squares to be used for my 2017 Flock of Geese 52 Week Block Challenge hosted by Darlene D'Eon Designs:

Will have to count where I am at with regards to these.  Likely that I will make more than 52 so that the quilt is a little larger and since I did not make this quilt in a timely matter.....oh well.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Wednesday tomorrow!  Stay Safe out there!

Stay Home on Tuesday??

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Tuesday and were able to find a little bit of fun, good, or even both today.

Fresh milk, fruit and veggies arrived today.  There were 2 eggplant and 2 zucchini in the box so I decided that kiddo and I would make Lentil Moussaka for dinner.  It was DELICIOUS:

After dinner I went up to my craft room.  Breathing still tight with my asthma so I make minimal trips to the second floor of the house.  Assembled the last 4 blocks of the Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

This will eventually be centre block for the quilt☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Stay safe out there and please WASH your Hands!!🙏  Wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Wednesday.

Easter Sunday...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I hope that y'all had a blessed Easter Sunday at home on Self Isolation.

Today was a quiet day around our house.  We had toasted Babka with homemade Strawberry Jam from the pantry, poached eggs, milk and fresh fruit for breakfast.

Took doggie out for a walk and while out I slipped hard on the ice.  Whacked my elbow that I had fallen on ice 2 weeks ago with again!!!  The swelling and bruising was just starting to go down.  When I fell today I got ice rash (?) and bled from my elbow all the way home!  Bandaged up the area and took a pain medication so then needed a nap.  Had planned to roast a chicken for dinner but arm hurt too much so we had left overs.

I did check on my lily planters this afternoon in the garage:

They're sprouting!!!  Spring might be on the way!!!🌷

Sewed on the very last row of my 2018 Red and White 52 Week Block Challenge after dinner.  This is now ready to go for long arming:

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspired your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there....
