Palm Sunday...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!

Somehow it seems shocking to realize that today is already Palm Sunday!  It feels like I have done nothing this year and yet it's a 1/4 finished!!

Started the day out with oven baked fresh strawberry, blueberry French Toast, topped with Vanilla Sugar, whipped cream and Quebec Maple Syrup.  Sooo YUM!

After breakfast took doggie out for his mid morning stroll through the neighborhood.  Bruce the Goose and all his kin folk seem to be moving in and Goose Steppin' around:

Baked 2 loaves of Lemon, Poppy Seed Thyme Bread this afternoon.  It smelled and tasted awesome!!

Still on my clean everything mission so did 7 loads of laundry today.  As of now everything is washed, folded and put away!!  House smells super clean and awesome!

In between loads of laundry I knitted on my Finish Line Socks.  These are from the Jan/Feb Biscotte Yarns Mystery Sock Box.

For dinner I made kiddo a mushroom, dill bison roast in the slow cooker.  Served with roasted garlic, parsnip, mashed potatoes, dill salad and a home made dill pickle:

Kiddo enjoyed.

This evening after floors were vacuumed and mopped I spent a bit of time in my craft room and made another 2020 Darlene D'Eon Designs 52 Week Challenge Block.  "Sew" close to being done this one and getting it out to be long armed:

TAH DAH!!

Spring Break all of this week so will see what I can get in to.  Staying home and staying safe.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you a BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay Safe.😷

What Time Is It???

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Seriously though.....what time is it???  I still really hate time change and do not see a reason for it.

Took doggie for an extra long walk with the extra time I had today.  A beautiful day out there.  I did manage to somehow get hit by a bicyclist.  Have kept moving since then to try and decrease stiffness tomorrow as some large bruises are starting to form.

Several geese honking about the ice on the lake.

Still pretty green outside for November 01.

Limped my way home and made some Lentil Soup and added fresh lemon juice to it.  SOOOOOOO Yum topped with Feta and fresh green onions.

Took a nap after lunch as the anti inflammatory medication was starting to work.

Earlier this morning I put chicken in the slow cooker for Cashew Broccoli Chicken for dinner for kiddo.  Turned out pretty tasty he reported.

Going to limp the dog out now for a bit of an evening stroll.  Will see how that goes.  Lunches are packed for tomorrow as well as breakfast prep.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there😷

Sunday Fun Day!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!

Did all my "mom" and "responsible" things yesterday so today could just be enjoyable.

After breakfast kiddo, doggie and I headed out to the lakes in and around our community.

When we got home the bread dough I had put to rise before we left was ready to go.  I made a regular white loaf on the left and topped it with the Everything Bagel Seasoning that I picked up at Costco recently.  The other loaf I made in to a cinnamon loaf and topped it with caramel sprinkles from the pantry😁:

While the bread rose again I grated the last of the zucchini in the crisper with my Grate and Measure and made a Chocolate Zucchini Cake to bake at the same time as the bread.  Save on energy.😺

Did a bit of cross stitch and knitting as well this afternoon on the deck.

Took my bike out for a long ride this evening.  Lunch ready for tomorrow and now to head out for last walk of the day with doggie.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Took a looooooong walk today to clear my head.

Felt a little better when I got home "sew" I made a few more scrap blocks for the 52 Week Flock of Geese Challenge from 2017:

Thinking that I might make this a bit larger than the 52 blocks so as to have a bit of a larger quilt.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Friday tomorrow.  Stay Safe out there.

The Weekend!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The weekend now seems less exciting as it does when one has a work week and extracurricular schedule.  Hmmmm.

Today I walked the dog slowly around the neighborhood with full mask as asthma is still bothering me.

After lunch I made some greeting cards.  I have three friends who have a birthday in the month of April.  There are also a few friends that I know are hunkered down for their health as well as all of ours.  For them I thought a card in the mail would be a nice surprise:

After dinner I sewed a few more rows on to my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

Off to walk doggie one last time this evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay Safe🙏

Day 12...but who is countin' ?

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Hope you are all still enjoying your Self Isolation time and staying home. 😷

Doggie and Kiddo were walked of course several times today.

I finished up knitting my second sock from the KnitCrate subscription box that I got switched to when Sock Crush merged with them.  Although the pattern worked up quite nicely I was definitely not a fan of the yarn that was supplied.  Sock Crush had beautiful Indie dyed yarns and the box I got in the transition felt very much like mass produced, bulk craft store quality.  These socks shall be the ones that I wear in my hiking shoes for walks in the bush I think:

This evening after dinner I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room and started to work again on my Lush Quilt.  This is the Block of the Month for 2018/2019 that was offered by my local quilt shop Sew Divine.  I stitched the last 4 Dresden Plate blocks to their base.  My plan is that in the next few days a row at a time each evening I can get this quilt top completed and ready for long arming.

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you the BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow.  Stay safe at home, get out for some fresh air and exercise if you can while practicing social distancing and WASH your hands 🙏.

Cheers

Day 8...

Good Evening Internet Friends!!

Day 8 of Self Isolation for us.  Kiddo is now on to his second week of NO School.  It is supposed to be Spring Break but alas we cannot go anywhere.  We walk the dog every morning and evening when there is low risk of the neighbors and children being out.  Other than that we try to keep busy and maintain some form of routine.

Food wise we are still okay.  I did make a Costco run this morning to get 4 of the gallon jugs of milk (we drink a lot of milk) and some more fresh fruit.  I do have lots of frozen and canned fruit but still prefer fresh.

For breakfast we had fruit bowls with yogurt, English Muffins with poached eggs and a glass of milk to start the day.

After our walk with doggie this afternoon we baked Peanut Butter Cookies.  SOOOO yummy.  Have to watch portions on these or I will not be able to wear pants soon.

After dinner I spent a bit of time in my craft room and worked on the next step of the Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt Along:

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Tuesday tomorrow.  Stay Safe, get outside for some fresh air and exercise if you can and as Always.....WASH your hands🙏.  Stay Safe.

Day 7...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was an actual Self Isolation Day as I did not have to work 😷

Sunday at our house means it is Awful Waffle Sunday.  No fresh strawberries (not sure when we will have any of those again) so I used the last of fresh raspberries:

SOOOOOO yummy.

After breakfast we took doggie out for a walk around the lake community.  Saw LOTS of Canada Geese while we were out there.  We decided that they must have taken the Prime Minister's message about all Canadian's coming home seriously.  These three were demonstrating Social Distancing nicely:

The lake was quit inhabited with them as well.  Guess no one prepared a place for them to stay......

This evening I completed Step 3 of the Laundry Basket Quilt Along

This is 20 of the 100 blocks that will be made for this quilt.

Hope this inspires your own creativity, wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe, get outside for a bit of fresh air and a walk if you can and WASH your hands 🙏.

Look Closely.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Okay, seriously.....you do have to look closely....the largest piece of fabric in here is 2.5" square!!!

I LOVE the colors and how this block went together.  Since I am pretty frugal with my cutting I am going to see if I can make another three of these and turn them in to place mats for the dinner table!!

This is one of the blocks from the Simple Whatnots Club 8.  I believe this block was a bonus block.

This is about the extent of my day.

Kiddo and I did take doggie out to the hay field close to our house and we launched balls for close to an hour.  Kiddo and dog were both tired after that!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Sunday EVER!!!

The WEEKEND!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Alas, I had such high hopes and expectations for this weekend, but thanks to the asthma attack yesterday I was in s...l....o....w.... motion today.

Dog of course woke me up way too early to take him for his walk.  I did not walk very fast and so he had lots of time to snuffle around.  He did not seem to mind.  I do have to admit that I love these morning walks.  Everything is just very peaceful and calm out there and the parks and paths look so pretty:

One of our favourite stomping grounds.

Took me quite a while to get home due to my slow moving speed, but on the way home I decided that I would make buttermilk waffles for breakfast.

DELICIOUS!

After a nap I headed out to support Local Quilt Shop Day.  Okay, truth is I decided to participate in a quilting class next weekend and needed some fabric for it.  I had no idea what I wanted other than I wanted navy for it and preferably bright colours.  Since I had NO idea what I was looking for I headed out to Johnson's Sewing Centre where I knew the amazing Heather would know what I need.  She did:

TAH DAH!!!  All ready for class.....except for cutting but you know I still have a week for that😉.

While dinner was in the oven I made a loaf of banana bread to help out with the lunch prep for the week that I will start on tomorrow:

One less thing to do tomorrow.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Sunday EVER tomorrow.🎉

BEST Day EVER Sunday!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Doggie woke me up at regular time to go for a walk....apparently he did not receive the memo that it was THE weekend.

After returning home I decided that I would make French Toast for breakfast and use the fresh raspberries I had in the fridge from earlier this week:

Delicious of course, but this innocent breakfast is responsible for almost everything that happened after.

I used the last pieces of bread to make the French Toast and that meant I needed to make bread:

Dough rising in the sun beam looked so awesome.

Additionally, while I had been getting the raspberries out of the fridge I also remembered the 5 lb bag of beets that I had purchased at the same time as the raspberries because the beets were TOO good a deal.  So.....out came the food processor portion of the Kitchenaid and 5 lbs of beets and 2 lbs of carrots became:

Added some freezer peas, onions, some of the dill I dried last summer and Borscht soup for lunch was a GO!

Bread was baked and turned out FABULOUS.  Doggie was sitting in front of the oven door as usual waiting for it to be done so he could get the heels.  He did of course and was super happy:

Nothing tastes better than fresh bread in my opinion.

The Resident Cookie Monster had also mentioned as I was getting underway with all my baking/cooking projects today that the cookie jar was nearing empty!!!   Horror.  Well.....crisis was averted as I made Sea Salt Caramel Chip Cookies from a package of chips I had in the pantry:

These are pretty tasty!!!  You can try to eat just one......But......

Back to the refrigerator where I took out a zucchini, a red, yellow, and green pepper along with some spinach that was all going to need to be used up this week.  I decided that lasagna for dinner would take care of all of these vegetables and so that is what I made:

This should get us through dinners at least part of the week as it is a five day work week for me and a five day school week for kiddo.  On top of that all extracurricular activities will be resumed this week.

While all of this baking and cooking was going on I also did an amazing amount of house cleaning!  Everything is washed, vacuumed, polished, scrubbed, and cleaned in some form.  The house looks and smells like HOME which is great because it was three months ago today that we spent our first night in our new home.  🏡

So.........a GREAT day thanks to doggie not getting the weekend notice memo.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.
