Weekend...

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Super Busy few weeks and this weekend was too!

Friday after work I did a wee bit of Black Friday Shopping and of course I kept it local and small business!  Stopped at Homes Alive and got doggie some treats for now and maybe some for the stocking as well.  I also found this really awesome silicone form for making frozen doggie treats.  Reading the fine print on the back I found that it is heat rated to 230  Celsius.  After checking with the staff who had not noticed that it was agreed that I could try it in the oven.  Sooooooo, last night I baked some banana/oatmeal/peannut butter treats for doggie.  He loved them:

TAH DAH!!!

Today was laundry, house work, meal prep, walk the dog across the community and then some cross country skiing.

For dinner I made Jasmine rice, poached Atlantic Salmon, steamed broccoli and spring rolls.  Super yum and some left overs for tomorrow:

After dinner and between laundry loads I finished the applique on a Christmas Tree Skirt Pattern Kit that I picked up at my LQS Sew Divine:

Now to quilt and bind it....

Cooked some chick peas as well and made my favourite lunch; green pepper, yellow pepper, orange pepper, red pepper, purple onion, cherry tomatoe, cucumber, feta, and chick pea salad:

Yes, the yellow Tupperware container is older than I am🤣.  It was made in Canada back then.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there,  😷

What Time Is It???

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Seriously though.....what time is it???  I still really hate time change and do not see a reason for it.

Took doggie for an extra long walk with the extra time I had today.  A beautiful day out there.  I did manage to somehow get hit by a bicyclist.  Have kept moving since then to try and decrease stiffness tomorrow as some large bruises are starting to form.

Several geese honking about the ice on the lake.

Still pretty green outside for November 01.

Limped my way home and made some Lentil Soup and added fresh lemon juice to it.  SOOOOOOO Yum topped with Feta and fresh green onions.

Took a nap after lunch as the anti inflammatory medication was starting to work.

Earlier this morning I put chicken in the slow cooker for Cashew Broccoli Chicken for dinner for kiddo.  Turned out pretty tasty he reported.

Going to limp the dog out now for a bit of an evening stroll.  Will see how that goes.  Lunches are packed for tomorrow as well as breakfast prep.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there😷

Marshmallows!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Late last evening while out on doggie walk we stumbled across a marshmallow spill!  Seriously.  Not the first time we have come across this type of disaster.  So as my dog ate them I decided that I should make some.

Used the Butter Baked Goods recipe.  It's my favourite.  The marshmallows always turn out and the recipe is not finicky.

Kept some batter and made a batch of Rice Krispie squares:

For lunch I made Dill Pickle Soup using a jar of home made dill pickles:

Super yum.  Left overs for lunch for kiddo and I this week.

For dinner I grilled Lentil Burgers and we ate on the deck.  Felt like spring out there.

After dinner I made another 6 Flock of Geese Blocks.  Only 3 or maybe 4 more of these little cuties to go before I can start assembly of the quilt!!

Hope this inspired your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Victoria Day Monday EVER.  Stay safe out there.

Happy Mother's Day...

Happy Mother's Day Internet Friends!

I spent most of my day in the kitchen.  Before y'all sigh,,,, I LOVE spending time in my kitchen.

For breakfast I made buttermilk waffles with fresh strawberries, and raspberries.  Served with whipped cream and Maple Syrup from Quebec:

For lunch I made my son's favourite lunch of Macaroni and Cheese.  I topped with deep fried onions for a different flavour:

For Dinner I made a roasted cauliflower/lentil dal:

For dessert I made a coconut cheese cake square:

SOOO Yummy!

Plan to knit a bit before I take doggie for a walk.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe.

Earth Day!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Happy Earth Day!

Today we had a low key kind of day.  Doggie walked, did lots of house cleaning and laundry.  Still moving slower than usual as my asthma has been acting up.  Stupid spring.....🌳.

To minimize our outings and maintain social distancing I am really trying to use what I have in my pantry, freezer and fridge.  Also a nod to Earth Day too as no waste 😼:

For lunch today we had poutine:

Dinner was left over Lentil Moussaka from yesterday.

After dinner I spent a bit of time in my craft room before taking doggie out for his walk.  I have now started to assemble the rows on my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

"Sew" far "sew" good!  I am not particularly good with mystery quilts.  If I cannot see what the end product looks like I really struggle with color selection.  The other thing that may hinder my production on Mystery Quilts is that I choose to use scrap fabric for these!  Seriously!!!!  Not gonna waste good fabric in case I don't like the quilt.  I have now seen the quilt layout for this one (bonus for not finishing on time) so will now await to see how this all comes together.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Stay safe out there and WASH your hands. 🙏

It's Getting Warmer...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It's Getting Warmer out there and I feel like a kid playing the seek and find game saying this.  But it really is getting warmer.  I was beginning to think that since Mother Earth is taking a Time Out that maybe she cancelled spring!!

Quiet day at home today.  My breathing is still difficult....getting better but marginally.  Of course it does not help that my triggers are outside and are trying to spring forth!!

For lunch today we had spaghetti with sauteed broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, yellow pepper, onion, and garlic.  Topped with feta and pesto that I made last summer and kept in the freezer until recently:

For dinner I must have had spaghetti on my brain as well because I made spaghetti squash Parmesan and garlic bread from the freezer:

For dessert we had Strawberry/Blueberry/Cherry Crisp with fruit from the freezer:

After dinner and before doggie walk I put together three sets of blocks for my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt.  I had all the pieces cut so able to sew together quickly:

"Sew"  that's all from around here.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there🙏

BEST Day EVER Sunday!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Doggie woke me up at regular time to go for a walk....apparently he did not receive the memo that it was THE weekend.

After returning home I decided that I would make French Toast for breakfast and use the fresh raspberries I had in the fridge from earlier this week:

Delicious of course, but this innocent breakfast is responsible for almost everything that happened after.

I used the last pieces of bread to make the French Toast and that meant I needed to make bread:

Dough rising in the sun beam looked so awesome.

Additionally, while I had been getting the raspberries out of the fridge I also remembered the 5 lb bag of beets that I had purchased at the same time as the raspberries because the beets were TOO good a deal.  So.....out came the food processor portion of the Kitchenaid and 5 lbs of beets and 2 lbs of carrots became:

Added some freezer peas, onions, some of the dill I dried last summer and Borscht soup for lunch was a GO!

Bread was baked and turned out FABULOUS.  Doggie was sitting in front of the oven door as usual waiting for it to be done so he could get the heels.  He did of course and was super happy:

Nothing tastes better than fresh bread in my opinion.

The Resident Cookie Monster had also mentioned as I was getting underway with all my baking/cooking projects today that the cookie jar was nearing empty!!!   Horror.  Well.....crisis was averted as I made Sea Salt Caramel Chip Cookies from a package of chips I had in the pantry:

These are pretty tasty!!!  You can try to eat just one......But......

Back to the refrigerator where I took out a zucchini, a red, yellow, and green pepper along with some spinach that was all going to need to be used up this week.  I decided that lasagna for dinner would take care of all of these vegetables and so that is what I made:

This should get us through dinners at least part of the week as it is a five day work week for me and a five day school week for kiddo.  On top of that all extracurricular activities will be resumed this week.

While all of this baking and cooking was going on I also did an amazing amount of house cleaning!  Everything is washed, vacuumed, polished, scrubbed, and cleaned in some form.  The house looks and smells like HOME which is great because it was three months ago today that we spent our first night in our new home.  🏡

So.........a GREAT day thanks to doggie not getting the weekend notice memo.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.

And Then....16

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Super busy day today.  Last day of Christmas vacation so I had to pack a ton of FUN in to this day.

Up and at it early today as we headed down to Red Deer to meet up with a friend for lunch.  Took a little bit longer than planned to get there as of course there was a snow storm until just north of Red Deer, sunshine for a bit and by the time we arrived in Red Deer thick ice fog had settled in.

After lunch stopped by a couple of sewing shops and of course stopped at Peaceful Patch. They have an AMAZING selection of fabric.

After dinner, dog walk, and catching up on a few household chores I made Block 16 of the Red and White Block a Week Challenge:

TAH DAH!

Now it's time to get ready for a scrap booking retreat weekend that I am going to participate in this weekend.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and
Best Day EVER Saturday tomorrow.

FAST...Forward...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Super Crazy busy but hoping in the next month or so things will start to normalize and settle down.

Today although it was Sunday Funday was also Fast Forward Day.

Very busy week ahead with work and school and extra curricular activities.

Last night I shredded via the Kitchenaid 24 + cups of zucchini that my friend Lynn had given me last weekend.  Some of that was used to make 2 Lemon Zucchini loaves today:

I also made Oatmeal Butterscotch chip cookies:

For lunch and for lunches for part of this week I made Macaroni and Cheese:

Always a favourite of kiddo.

In between house work and laundry I did manage to make another three of my 2016 A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop's 52 Week Block Challenge.  No typo.....just got really far behind with other things:

As of this evening I have now completed 43 of the 52 blocks for this quilt!

Getting excited about that as in the next month I am hoping to tidy up a few more loose ends ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sunday Fun Day...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Made the BEST of the last day before back to a full week of work starting tomorrow.

For breakfast I made Banana Oatmeal Waffles:

Used up a couple of freezer bananas and a bit of the gigantic bag of oatmeal in the cupboard.  ✅

For lunch I heated up a jar of borscht that I have canned previously:

Delicious!  ✅

While lunch was heating up I made a Pumpkin Cranberry Loaf.  Used up a pint of frozen pumpkin, a handful of dried cranberries and a handful of pumpkin seeds that I had in the cupboard along with oatmeal of course.  ✅

Quite proud of the food that I used up and of course there are left overs for lunch tomorrow.

This afternoon kiddo and dog and I headed out to the creek that we found earlier in the week.  The walk there, along and through the creek and back was 10.56 mi (16.99 kilometers).  I think we shall all sleep well tonight.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Simple Saturday...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a perfectly simple day.  I did run one errand but other than that we just hung out at home.

I am on a mission right now to "Eat the House".  No, I have not suddenly developed a craving for soft wood, but rather eat up some of what I have stored.  As you may have noticed I have not done any canning this year as we still have several jars of pickles and jams.

For lunch today we had Tuna, Apple and Avocado salad sandwiches with Tzatziki seasoning.  Delicious.  I will try these again:

After inventory of the freezer and pantry dinner was poached salmon with honey mustard and fresh dill sauce, jasmine rice with fresh garden chives, roasted garlic and sage mushrooms and a Caesar salad:

Delicious as well and there are left overs for tomorrow 🐟.

After dinner kiddo and I headed out to explore a part of the River Valley that we previously have not been to.  It was amazing what we found.  A perfect stream that kiddo and dog had a blast in:

I even allowed for dog to be off leash for a bit because there was no one and no other dogs around.

Throughout the day I spent some time with my scrap fabrics and made 2 of each of the past three years of weekly challenge blocks that I have gotten VERY far behind on:

LOVE how these look.  Especially the Star Block that I used star fabrics for the whole block.  ⋆😼.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Best Thursday EVER!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I know I say this every day, but in all seriousness today was the BEST Thursday EVER!!!

Late last night early this morning I finished the socks that I will gift to my Grandma:

Just as I was wondering what I should start/finish for a knitting project the mail arrived.  It was Happy Mail Day!!!!

My August box from Sock Crush!

This yarn is one of my local faves☺ and 4 sample packs of my favourite wool wash Soak were included in the box!

Kiddo and I headed out and had lunch at Blaze Pizza.  Then it was off to The Bay for some back to school shopping for both kiddo and I 👚👟.

After dinner I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room and made another 2 flying geese blocks for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt:

Only 4 more of these beauties to go!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

"Sew" Much Accomplished Today

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Lots of good things done today.

First off I made lunch so that there are left overs for lunches for a few days this week:

Kiddo's favourite lunch; Macaroni and Cheese.

This afternoon I did lots of housework and for can proudly state that as of now ALL housework and laundry is caught up!!!

For dessert I made Banana Zucchini Cake with a boiled brown sugar frosting; seriously delicious:

After dinner I dragged out my sewing machine for a bit and even the iron and made:

A Flock of Geese Block from my scrap stash.  I did drag out the Pfaff 4.2 this evening though as still sore in my core from using the Red Eye Treadle last night.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
