Best Thursday EVER!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I know I say this every day, but in all seriousness today was the BEST Thursday EVER!!!

Late last night early this morning I finished the socks that I will gift to my Grandma:

Just as I was wondering what I should start/finish for a knitting project the mail arrived.  It was Happy Mail Day!!!!

My August box from Sock Crush!

This yarn is one of my local faves☺ and 4 sample packs of my favourite wool wash Soak were included in the box!

Kiddo and I headed out and had lunch at Blaze Pizza.  Then it was off to The Bay for some back to school shopping for both kiddo and I 👚👟.

After dinner I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room and made another 2 flying geese blocks for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt:

Only 4 more of these beauties to go!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Time Out....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

For the first time in almost a month I decided that tonight rather than be responsible on a Friday evening after working another double shift at the start of the May long weekend; I would take a few minutes to myself.

This is a sock blank that I received in my monthly subscription to Sock Crush a few months ago.

As you can see my progress has been limited while I work on being responsible.  Ughhhh.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Mail Day ☺

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I LOVE getting the mail.  All of my bills arrive electronically so only FUN things arrive in the mail.  That was today.  First off this box made me happy; it is a FUN box and it contains FUN things:

The contents:

YARN!!!  As you likely know by now Biscotte Yarns is one of, if not my favourite yarn.  From left to right I have:

Yarn for a Pair of Socks that have cats in the pattern

The pink middle skein is from the Sock of the Month Club

The right pink skein is the Valentine's Day Yarn Pack along with a moisturizer and a needle keeper.

Next to arrive was my order for some fabric I decided that I must have:

"Sew" Excited to get started on all of these projects.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Kathy's Day Off...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my day off during the work week.

I had BIG plans for the day, but it turned out to be just a really nice day.  I will have to do the BIG things on the weekend.

After dropping my son off for school I stopped by a friend's house for tea and scones.  YUM.

Home then to wait for the alarm company in the 4 hour window they had given me.  It was not a hurry up and wait as the tech was here 20 minutes into the time window.  I really do love my house alarm company.  They have really good customer service.

Afterwards I had a nap because the dog and the cat were both napping in the sunbeam and I did not want to disturb their siesta.  🐈🐕

Once I had my nap I decided to go pick up my 2 new skiens of self striping Biscotte Yarn in colours that were specially dyed for River City Yarns.  On the way home I decided to make a minor detour and stop by the new location of Earthly Goods.  Had a lovely chat with the owner and picked up (of course) a couple of fabrics I HAD to have:

Here are my treasures for today.  The fabric has music notes in it!!!!  The yarn has fuchsia in it!!!!

I think I shall make another of the Professional Tote bags with these fabrics.

Now I should go work on some of my current projects, but these are "sew" pretty to admire.  Thankfully the weekend is coming...

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Roll Call......

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

Yes, I am present and accounted for.

Despite getting my Flu Shot, I succumbed to Flu.  I am thankful that I did get the shot as for the past week I have been ridiculously sick.  At first I thought it was a really bad asthma attack.  As the day wore on I felt worse and then worse and over the next three days I felt worse every day.  I did attempt at one point to return to work but was physically exhausted after only a few hours and the pain relievers and fever suppressant had stopped working.  By mid this week I decided to go see my Family Doctor.  She assessed and determined that I had flu but also swabbed me to prove it.  😓😰

Over the past week I have just gotten more and more ill.  Today has been the first day that not only did I get out of bed, but I showered, got dressed (not pajamas), ate three meals (most days was extra buttered toast - soft that way, and warm tea), and have not gone for a nap since I woke up this morning.

"Sew".....as you can likely guess......I have not been well enough to get out of my own way and have certainly not done any kind of crafting.

I will show you my latest treasure acquisition from just before I got ill:

This is a Valentine's Knitting Package that I designed. Chocolate themed zippered pouches and Chocolate Cherry yarn from Ancient Arts!

I really am hoping to have the energy tomorrow to get started on a project with this yarn.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's ALL About......Me????

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Day off today in the middle of the week just before Christmas!  BONUS.

I was at the mall shortly after 0900 hours.  Parking lot virtually empty as was the mall.  YAY.  No line ups, no fragrances being effused, it was AWESOME!!!

Now, I went for a few things for stocking stuffers but apparently I am a tab self-centered.....I got some amazing things.....FOR ME!

One of those was actually craft related.  I picked up my copy of Vogue Knitting Holiday 2017 and then picked up my Scandinavian Sock Kit:

Now, although I really want to get started on these I am also super excited to get Christmas presents wrapped, a little more Christmas baking done and I really need to find my Santa Hat for tomorrow.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

"Sew" "Purr"fect...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Today I attended the Fort Saskatchewan Quilt Show.

There were "sew" many beautiful quilts to see.  I highly recommend this outing to everyone.

Of course there was a Vendor's Market and by end of day I decided that I really needed to add to my stash so here are a couple of items I picked up:

TAH DAH!

Cat Selfie fabric already sewn into a Zippered Pouch and a skin or Tuxedo cat wool ☺

Socks!!! Glorious Socks!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Late yesterday evening I finished a pair of socks so it seemed most appropriate for me to........start another pair this morning.

I picked up this skein of Hudson's Memories while I was in Montreal.  The staff at Biscotte Yarns knew that I would not have time to get to their store but they made arrangements for me to pick up at another store that I would be close to.

In between blanching carrots and laundry here is my progress today:

My favourite colours and my favourite yarn.  Good thing winter is coming so that I can wear these.  ❆

Comfort Day

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Awoke today to an overcast and smoky sky.  There are forest fires burning in British Columbia at present.  I went out briefly this morning but my asthma did not like the air quality so I returned to my house/bubble with all it's air quality instruments etc.

This afternoon I did some knitting on my June box of Super Amazing Awesome Fingering Yarn Club 😊😁

I started these socks while in Quebec on Summer Vacation and of course since getting home and going back to work have not done a lot of work on them.  Today I was able to get the heel flap and heel done.  😺

For dinner I made fresh Tomato Dill Soup and we had the Green Onion cakes along with.  Super awesome:

This was of course comfort food to add to the perfect comfort day.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

What's the Buzz???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

We arrived back home very late Saturday or very early Sunday morning dependent on time zone that we still seem to be adjusting to and also due to a delay with departure of the plane from Ottawa.

Back to work now for two days and at home starting to get organized and some sense of normal restored. 😊.

Found this really cool fabric recently and decided on a colour way that would coordinate with my next knitting project that I hope to start soon with a pattern that I picked up while in Quebec:

TAH DAH!!!!

Now off to check on the bread I decided to bake this evening as I was too tired to stop at the market on the way home this evening.

I Don't Follow Directions....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

For those of you that know me and those of you that are just finding out......I Don't follow Directions.

I wish I could say that is not true.....but it is.

This afternoon I decided that I would finally make one of the Knitting Pouch bags that I wrote the pattern for.  Guess what?????  I can't even follow my own directions.  I decided to change the pattern up a bit:

I decided that I wanted a colour coordinated base to the bag!

A few minor changes and I have a really cool Knitting Pouch ☺

Then it was time to take Kiddo and "Horse Dog" for a walk:

Horse Dog has settled in for a very deep sleep at present. ☺

These are a couple of new yarn combos I plan to try out:

Now meet Amethyst and green.  I LOVE this colourway as well because it reminds me of Grapes ☺

Happy Easter!

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

I hope that each of you had a wonderful and blessed Easter Day.

My son, the dogs, and I slept late again.

Had freshly toasted Babka for breakfast and searched the house for chocolate.  I am positive that I found it all - but at my age - who knows????

Then we went for brunch.  It was a wonderful brunch.

I did a bit of knitting this afternoon while dinner was cooking, but then a random nap occurred.

After dinner I decided to go down to my craft room.  Had not been there all weekend.

First off I decided it was time to perform the finishing touches on the yarn I dyed at Vogue Knitting Live Las Vegas:

The colours are now set and I gave it a quick rinse in Soak wash. It is now haning to dry over the laundry tub.  Hopefully I can get started on it later this week ☺

Next up I decided I should tidy up my quilting desk for some serious quilting tomorrow.   There was a lot of scrap fabric from the 2 sheep Knitting Project Bags I have made of recent so rather than putting it away I made:

A lined, zippered pouch!!!!! I happened to have a zipper and some mystery interfacing that made this a Top Drawer Project as my son would say ☺ I did not use a pattern, but think that later this week I might make another one from some scraps and show you how I did it!

It's "SEW" fun!!!

That's all folks.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Resume....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Very early this morning we arrived home.  By the time we unpacked the car to make sure nothing perished it was just before 0300 hours ☺

We had a wonderful vacation and over the next few days I will show you some of the things we saw and collected on our Road Trip.

This evening though I will show you what I managed to accomplish in 930 miles (1497 km) yesterday.

First off I finished the Team Canada Hat Trick Yarn socks for hubby:

As you may know hubby works in a remote fly in Campsite job and spends 12+ hours a day in safety shoes that are not known to be especially comfortable or that warm.  He LOVES the wool socks that I "custom" knit as he says for him. ☺

Once I finished these I started on March 2017 Sock Crush subscription socks:

I am not following the pattern that came with the yarn as I found the pattern very busy with the yarn colouring.  I have opted for a picot cuff sock and a smooth but reinforced heel for the sock so that the yarn colours are able to show.

The yarn is a Sweet Georgia colour way and since I love the feel of these yarns I decided to take it with me for the trip in case I had time to start ☺

Now it's time to head off to bed as the real world resumes tomorrow....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Second Time...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Busy day today.  We spent the day walking  The Strip.  Feet are a bit sore now and I think we will all sleep soundly tonight.

Before we headed out today I did take my natural dyed indigo yarn out of the dye to dry.

Now the spare closet looks like:

I have to admit I kinda like my newly acquired skill :-)

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Something New!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Life has been crazy busy for the past week and as such I have not had a chance to blog.

Last night we arrived in Las Vegas for Spring Break Vacation.  While en route I found out that Vogue Knitting Live was here this weekend!!!! :-)  Seriously...I come to Vegas and find YARN.

This morning I registered for a yarn dyeing class!  It was awesome!  Here is one of the yarns I dyed today:

I had so much fun making this.....and yes....I will be making more yarns!!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

PD (Pretty Darn Fun) Day...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a PD Day for my son.  After sleeping late and then eating breakfast we headed out for some FUN!

One of the first places we stopped was Donut Party!  We arrived a little late so our choices were limited.  We got a half dozen of Mint Rocky Road.  These doughnuts are HUGE!  The size of a newborn's head:

There are two left as we both ate one (I ate part of mine - my son at his and the rest of mine), we gave 2 to the neighbours and these will be breakfast (?) tomorrow...

We stopped at another place that is all about local made products and crafts and some yarn.....not much there.  I did buy a skein of yarn that was kind of pretty mostly because I felt sorry for the place.  No plans to go back there.

Then it was on to Zwick's Pretzels somehow I did not manage to get a plain picture without either my son or my face being stuffed with one of these, but they were DELICIOUS and I WILL go back there.

A quick stop at River City Yarns for their in house brand of worsted weight wool for a project I have decided I MUST do.

Then we headed home as my kidney stone was starting to bother me.

I had great intentions of finishing the Anne of Green Gables quilt kit that I got.    Alas, because of the kidney pain I only accomplished 6 blocks today:

That will be all for this evening as I am medicating in advance as I really do not want to spend the night in the emergency. ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Saturday Adventures

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today I went and did some Christmas shopping (for me) and some Christmas visiting with friends and neighbours.

I made some Christmas cards and I stamped some shopping bags:

I thought and so did everyone else that these cards and bags with the dog theme were really neat ☺

This evening after dinner my son and I watched the marathon of Home Alone movies and I knit on my Reyna Shawl:

I am using one of my Sock of the Month yarns from Sweet Georgia Yarns.  I am not sure which month this came from because I put the tag in the recycling bag before taking note of the information ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's FRIDAY!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was another whirlwind Kathy day.

After dropping kiddo off at school I headed over to Kingsway Mall to get a few Black Friday sale items.  Then it was off to run a few errands and before I knew it the time had come to pick up kid from school. ☺

A quick and early dinner was prepared before I headed off to work for a few hours. There was a staffing shortage so I just needed to cover dinner breaks.  ☺

Arriving home I headed down to my craft room and made Block 11 of my Scandi 3 quilt:

My November subscription of Yarn Crush arrived in the mail today.

My intent was to wrap it and put it under the Christmas Tree and open in on Christmas Day as a surprise gift to myself.  It will be just kid and I home for Christmas this year due to work schedules.

By the time I left work I had convinced myself that I really needed to open it because maybe it is something that needs to be made right away.

Here is the yarn and the knitting needles included for a quick easy knit cowl this month:

Yes, I will be casting this on before I go to sleep tonight!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sew Tired....

Good Late Evening Friends...

Today was my turn around day after my weekend of night shift.  Three in a row is getting a little long for this gal ☺

Today I did a whole lot of nothing.  Got kiddo ready for school and the bus stop only to find out that the bus was going to be 45 minutes late.

Took a quick nap after getting back home.  Rummaged through the fridge for some lunch and eventually showered by 1600 hours.  WOW.  Nothing really accomplished.

Late this afternoon my May subscription of Yarn Crush arrived.  I was super excited.  Then I opened it:
The yarns are pretty, but are mini skeins to use to make a choker necklace.  WHAT!!!!  Seriously.  I am not sure what to think of this......I'm actually speechless...

Most of today has been cloudy and rainy so I made tomato soup and cheese biscuits for dinner:

After dinner I sat down and finished knitting my March Yarn Crush project.  I used the Tink Yarn supplied to make socks using the Cherry Lane Socks pattern:

Pretty!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

I have the BEST job in the world!

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I think I may have mentioned this in the past but I love being a Registered Nurse; I truly have the best job in the world.

Upon arrival at work on Wednesday morning I was told I had 20 minutes to pack bags with everything I thought I might need to run a nursing station at the Northlands Evacuation Center.  At 0902 hours I was on site with all the Diabetes stuff including insulin and needles I could stuff in bags, gauze, bandages, hand sanitizer, gloves and a thermometer and blood pressure cuff.  The rest would arrive as I called in what I needed.

I have spent the the last 3 days there providing Registered Nursing Care.  I have been there so long that people I treated on Wednesday returned with their friends to register today and recognized me!  Although I feel physically exhausted from the long hours of standing I realize I cannot complain, my patient's have it way harder than I do and no matter how long a 16 hour day may seem to me I am not working anywhere as hard as the forest fire fighters.  I will be back there next week.

My Yarn Crush order finally arrived today!!!  Two weeks in transit from Ontario to Alberta.  Seriously....I could have driven there and back in less time.  I think it went on a tour again....had been arriving on time for a few months now so I guess it was time for one to go on vacation again.

Not exactly sure what I will do with this box.....yellow yarn????

As a side joke I have been able to tell my family that I am drinking Labatt's while at the Evacuation Center.  This is funny because I do not drink and secondly doing that at work????  This is why:

The evacuees and those of us on the front lines have been given this as a water source!  It's actually quite funny to open a can of water!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
