Making Do!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope y'all had a fabulous Victoria Day Weekend.

Today was a stay at home kind of day.  I did walk the dog early this morning of course and took my bike out for a bit this afternoon but that is all.

My copy of the Butter Baked Goods cookbook was still out so I made a batch of Sugar Cookies.  I LOVE these sugar cookies; the recipe uses butter and oil and makes a perfectly crisp on the outside soft in the middle cookie.  Perfect for Tea Time:

Between Batches I knit on my XO socks that are from my January 2020 Biscotte Yarns Mystery Box.  Not sure what keeps holding me up on these socks.  Could be the circular needle that does not allow me to knit the left handed way that I want to!  Or....could be that the colour work requires attention:

I have now passed the gusset and so was able to try them on.  OMG are they comfortable!!!  Might spur me on to get this one finished so I can start on the other one☺

For dinner I used freezer food.  Since the 10th of March we have been eating what we have in the pantry and the freezer.  I have had milk and fresh fruits and veggies brought in.  Two trips to Costco since that time and both have been in the last two weeks.  I would like to say that we have made a dent in the freezer....but alas it is still full somehow.  Today I used some Bison sausages, perogies, and green peas from the freezer.   Sauteed onions and mushrooms from the fridge along with sour cream (will need to start a shopping list for this one):

I am not a fan or meat but on occasion for some red meat I will eat a wee bit of bison.  This is kiddos plate; I had a half sausage and might eat the other tomorrow with the leftovers we have.

Heading out to walk doggie now as tomorrow is work and I still have one more load of laundry to put through so that everything is clean!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Tuesday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there!

Day Three...

Good Evening Internet Friends!!

Day 3 of Official Self Isolation.  I of course do not get to self isolate ๐Ÿ˜ท

Came straight home after work.  Made dinner, washed 2 loads of scrubs for my commute to and from work.  After necessary things were done and doggie walked I cast on my second sock:

Hope this inspires your own creativity๐Ÿงต and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Thursday.  Stay safe, get out for a walk in the fresh air if you can and WASH your hands ๐Ÿ™.

Snow Much Fun...

Good Evening Internet friends.

Busy day at work which was great, but also a wee bit tiring.  Traffic on the way home was sloooooooooooow, but I made it home safely.

For dinner this evening I made a Kathy version of Chicken Parmesan Spaghetti Squash.  Yet another 100% Costco meal ☺

Spaghetti Squash (3 pack from Costco)
Frozen Chicken Parmesan (Costco)
Spaghetti Sauce (Costco)
Fresh Mozzarella (Costco)

Served with:
Garlic Bread (Costco)
Garden Salad (all veggies from Costco)

Turned out delicious and of course there are left overs for tomorrow evening!!!  BONUS.

After loading the dishwasher and tidying up the kitchen I took a few minutes to knit on my latest pair of socks.  These are being knit for a very dear friend of mine who has help me IMMENSELY with our move and getting everything in order.  She has a really awesome desk job but for a couple of weeks of the winter she will have to be outside, so I decided that she deserved and needed a pair of my hand knit wool socks ☺.

The colour way is Be Awesome from Sea Turtle Fibre Arts.  I picked this skein up at the Prairie Fibre Festival the day after my house sold.  My friend was a very integral part of helping get the house ready for sale and sold quickly.

After a bit of knitting I decided to brave the cold.  The temperature right now with a bit of snow fall is - 16 C (3.2 Fahrenheit).  I was dreading going out, but once I got out with dog it was enjoyable.  A 128 lb Labrador/German Shepherd toddler is a lot of fun in the snow.  Plus, the scenery was amazing.  I was able to get this pic that I love as the falling snow is caught in it and the sparkle of the snow under foot.  ❄

 Keep Warm everyone and,

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Fall Back...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well,.....it's that time of year.....Fall Back an hour in time because someone once thought this was a good idea.  Still not a fan of this day.

Yesterday in preparation for this day I made sure that I did all my errands so that today could be a stay at home kind of day.

Of course no one informed the dog that the time had changed so he still had me up bright and early to go for his walk.

It snowed over night so looked really pretty outside.

The plan was to work on some of my craft and quilting projects today and I was successful with that.

I finished all 22 flying geese blocks for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt:

Seriously loving making this quilt.

I also decided it was time to graft the toes closed on a pair of socks that I started over a year ago but kind of lost my crafting mojo on:

TAH DAH.  "Sew" I decided to wear them all afternoon around the house.

I am hoping that now that life is a little less chaotic and I am only crafting for myself that I will be able to get back into being creative regularly.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Best Thursday EVER!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I know I say this every day, but in all seriousness today was the BEST Thursday EVER!!!

Late last night early this morning I finished the socks that I will gift to my Grandma:

Just as I was wondering what I should start/finish for a knitting project the mail arrived.  It was Happy Mail Day!!!!

My August box from Sock Crush!

This yarn is one of my local faves☺ and 4 sample packs of my favourite wool wash Soak were included in the box!

Kiddo and I headed out and had lunch at Blaze Pizza.  Then it was off to The Bay for some back to school shopping for both kiddo and I ๐Ÿ‘š๐Ÿ‘Ÿ.

After dinner I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room and made another 2 flying geese blocks for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt:

Only 4 more of these beauties to go!!!!

SOCKS!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

After dinner I spent almost 2 hours outside doing yard work.  Yard looks amazing now.

Unfortunately it looks like something ominous is going on out there cause the sun seems to be not as bright by 2100 hours.  So......I decided that although it was too dusky to knit on the patio I would knit anyways......just inside.

Almost finished these socks for Grandma.  Tomorrow the toes will be completed and I can get them to her when I go to visit.  I love gifting socks to my family because they all appreciate the gesture and realize that this is a very personal gift of my time and not mass production:

Socks for Grandma...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Finally all better and back to living in fast forward again.  Even pulled another over time shift this weekend ๐Ÿ˜ผ

I am really trying to make a conscious effort to do something creative for at least a few minutes every evening.  Something that makes me happy.

I love knitting socks.  From a young age I have loved wool and creating with it.  My family all love and are deserving of my hand knit socks and the most current pair will be headed soon to a well deserving family member:

My Grandma.

I know that she will love the delicate lace flower pattern to these as well as the gentle pastel colours that appear throughout the knit.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Time Out....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

For the first time in almost a month I decided that tonight rather than be responsible on a Friday evening after working another double shift at the start of the May long weekend; I would take a few minutes to myself.

This is a sock blank that I received in my monthly subscription to Sock Crush a few months ago.

As you can see my progress has been limited while I work on being responsible.  Ughhhh.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Mail Day ☺

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I LOVE getting the mail.  All of my bills arrive electronically so only FUN things arrive in the mail.  That was today.  First off this box made me happy; it is a FUN box and it contains FUN things:

The contents:

YARN!!!  As you likely know by now Biscotte Yarns is one of, if not my favourite yarn.  From left to right I have:

Yarn for a Pair of Socks that have cats in the pattern

The pink middle skein is from the Sock of the Month Club

The right pink skein is the Valentine's Day Yarn Pack along with a moisturizer and a needle keeper.

Next to arrive was my order for some fabric I decided that I must have:

"Sew" Excited to get started on all of these projects.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's ALL About......Me????

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Day off today in the middle of the week just before Christmas!  BONUS.

I was at the mall shortly after 0900 hours.  Parking lot virtually empty as was the mall.  YAY.  No line ups, no fragrances being effused, it was AWESOME!!!

Now, I went for a few things for stocking stuffers but apparently I am a tab self-centered.....I got some amazing things.....FOR ME!

One of those was actually craft related.  I picked up my copy of Vogue Knitting Holiday 2017 and then picked up my Scandinavian Sock Kit:

Now, although I really want to get started on these I am also super excited to get Christmas presents wrapped, a little more Christmas baking done and I really need to find my Santa Hat for tomorrow.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Socks in a Bag....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Still arguing with my sinuses and either an allergy or a virus.  Lots of sleep and fluid today, and I just might be able to talk normally tomorrow.

This afternoon I finished off the toe on my latest pair of socks.  This is the subscription yarn box from Ancient Arts:

Sick Day...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

My son and I have been battling sore throats, achy muscles, sore ears, headaches, plugged and or runny noses and the wimpiest irritating cough for almost a week now.  Last night after another long night of no sleeping, and for him coughing til he vomits, I decided that we would take a sick day.

Both of us did a lot of sleeping and chilling.

I did start on my newest pair of socks.  These are from my Super Amazing Awesome Yarn Club. The subscription is now in hibernation mode with intent to start again in early 2018.

Along with my new freshly sewn knitting pouch here is the progress I made today:

Now to go get some more sleep and hopefully I feel COMPLETELY better tomorrow.  If not, at least it is my regularly scheduled day off.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Grape Jelly Please....

Good Evening Internet Friends!!

At LONGGGG last I have finally completed my #Kindness Knit Along Socks.  I likely would have completed these long ago had it not been for the "unfortunate" mountain bike incident of September 2017.

Knitting speed and overall productivity still hampered by the wrist at times but tonight I finished the toe and grafted closed:

These socks are made with a full skein of Amethyst and a mini skein of Light Through the Leaves both of which I picked up from Ancient Arts.

I call these socks my Grape Jelly socks because as soon as I saw the Amethyst that is what I thought of ๐Ÿ‡.  Plus, toast and jelly just might be one of my favourite foods ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿž.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

And on the 9th Day......It Rained.....

Good Morning Internet Friends.

I am posting this morning because I have actually accomplished something BLOG worthy before lunch today.

I finished knitting my Hudson Memories colourway socks late yesterday.

This morning I got up early and grafted the toe closed because I wanted to wear them today.  The temperature outside is 8 degrees and raining.  Yuck!

TAH DAH!!!  They really do feel nice and warm and cozy today.

Now, the real reason I got up early was because I wanted to make Whole Wheat Flax Seed Pumpkin Pancakes for my son for breakfast today:

Served with cinnamon whipped cream and maple syrup they were extra delicious.  ๐Ÿฅž

Hope this inspires your own creativity and keep warm today....

Going Banana's...

Good Very Late Evening Internet Friends.  Not sure if I will get this post done before morning...๐Ÿ˜ช

It's that time of year.....the week before school starts.

Today was a whole lot of errands and not a lot of crafting.  It was however a great day.  On top of that my friend and I started talking about Banana Bread and I realized that it has been a very long time since there has been any of that in my house.

Only one way to fix that.  Start baking banana bread at 2230 hours when I work tomorrow morning.  I should confess though that I also had a load of laundry that had to be done so that I had clean capris for tomorrow....

Fresh from the oven and yes I am eating some right now as I write this post ๐ŸŒ

While the banana bread was baking and the washing machine was going I took a wee bit of time to do some more knitting on my Hudson's Memories socks.  I just love this colour way:

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sock To It!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Earlier today I would not have been kidding if I had told you that I had four socks of different yarns, and styles on the go at once.

Fast forward to right now and I can tell you that is now three, but do not worry, I will cast on the second sock of the just finished sock tomorrow morning๐Ÿ˜ธ

Without further ado, here is my latest creation in probably my all time favourite colour way:

This is my Hudson's Memories sock with my favourite sock knitting wool Biscotte Yarns.

I knit a plain basic sock to show off the self striping of this yarn and did an increase/decrease heel to keep with the striping effect.  I did not use a heel flap as I did not want to disturb the flow of the stripes and since I DETEST wrap and turn socks this was the best option for the heel.

I really do like how these turned out.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Rockin' Socks!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not a lot of crafting done as I was a little occupied with all my Birthday FUN!

Calls and messages from the family early this morning.

My iBFF stopped by with balloons (I LOVE balloons - they make me happy and the large one sings):

This afternoon my son and I went out to try a new pottery painting place.  We did not like the items they had so came home.

I was about to make dinner when my iBFF invited me out for dinner as the family and of course I took that up ☺

Made some of my new tea that came in my monthly knitting box.  It is amazingly yummy and now I am all sleepy feeling.

I did knit a few more rows on my socks:

I am loving how these are turning out.  I am not a fan of wrap and turn heels but the Knit Along I will be starting soon uses this increase and decrease heel type and it is so easy to work and gives me the results that I want!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Socks!!! Glorious Socks!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Late yesterday evening I finished a pair of socks so it seemed most appropriate for me to........start another pair this morning.

I picked up this skein of Hudson's Memories while I was in Montreal.  The staff at Biscotte Yarns knew that I would not have time to get to their store but they made arrangements for me to pick up at another store that I would be close to.

In between blanching carrots and laundry here is my progress today:

My favourite colours and my favourite yarn.  Good thing winter is coming so that I can wear these.  ❆

Made In Canada!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a super busy day again for my son and I.

We got up fairly early for a Saturday morning and headed off to the St Albert Farmers' Market and to pick up a neat item that I will show you another day.

Got lots of yummy goodies and will be doing some baking etc over the next few days ☺

This evening after dinner I spent some time on my sofa........knitting ☺

My Sassenach Socks using my June shipment of the Super Amazing Awesome Fingering Yarn Club that I get are finished:

They are really cozy on my feet right now ☺

I am calling these my Made In Canada socks because I started knitting them while on vacation in Quebec and continued to knit across Canada as I returned home to Alberta.  On top of that the yarn is Canadian as is the sock pattern designer ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sock It Up!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Back to work today at least for a few days....I will be back on vacation again shortly....๐Ÿ˜

Very late yesterday evening, or early this morning dependent on how you look at it I finished my first sock from the Super Amazing Awesome Fingering Yarn Club from Ancient Arts Fibre:

The sock turned out quite lovely but I cannot seem to get a decent photo of it to show off the cables and the lattice work in the pattern.  Trust me though.....the socks fit amazingly well.  ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
