The Weekend!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The weekend now seems less exciting as it does when one has a work week and extracurricular schedule.  Hmmmm.

Today I walked the dog slowly around the neighborhood with full mask as asthma is still bothering me.

After lunch I made some greeting cards.  I have three friends who have a birthday in the month of April.  There are also a few friends that I know are hunkered down for their health as well as all of ours.  For them I thought a card in the mail would be a nice surprise:

After dinner I sewed a few more rows on to my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

Off to walk doggie one last time this evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay Safe๐Ÿ™

And Then....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Another day has passed and cannot really proclaim that I did any thing too exciting.  Did walk the dog a bit this morning.  Wearing a respirator mask that makes me look all to well like a character from a well known movie line up.  Sound a lot like the character when I talk right now as well.

Started the day with Strawberry/Banana Cinnamon French Toast:

Whipped cream and Quebec Maple Syrup topped these off delightfully.

Did some house work this afternoon.

This evening after dinner and before doggie walk I added on Row 3 of my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Friday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there๐Ÿ™

Earth Day!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Happy Earth Day!

Today we had a low key kind of day.  Doggie walked, did lots of house cleaning and laundry.  Still moving slower than usual as my asthma has been acting up.  Stupid spring.....๐ŸŒณ.

To minimize our outings and maintain social distancing I am really trying to use what I have in my pantry, freezer and fridge.  Also a nod to Earth Day too as no waste ๐Ÿ˜ผ:

For lunch today we had poutine:

Dinner was left over Lentil Moussaka from yesterday.

After dinner I spent a bit of time in my craft room before taking doggie out for his walk.  I have now started to assemble the rows on my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

"Sew" far "sew" good!  I am not particularly good with mystery quilts.  If I cannot see what the end product looks like I really struggle with color selection.  The other thing that may hinder my production on Mystery Quilts is that I choose to use scrap fabric for these!  Seriously!!!!  Not gonna waste good fabric in case I don't like the quilt.  I have now seen the quilt layout for this one (bonus for not finishing on time) so will now await to see how this all comes together.

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Stay safe out there and WASH your hands. ๐Ÿ™

Stay Home on Tuesday??

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Tuesday and were able to find a little bit of fun, good, or even both today.

Fresh milk, fruit and veggies arrived today.  There were 2 eggplant and 2 zucchini in the box so I decided that kiddo and I would make Lentil Moussaka for dinner.  It was DELICIOUS:

After dinner I went up to my craft room.  Breathing still tight with my asthma so I make minimal trips to the second floor of the house.  Assembled the last 4 blocks of the Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt:

This will eventually be centre block for the quilt☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Stay safe out there and please WASH your Hands!!๐Ÿ™  Wishing you all a BEST Day EVER Wednesday.

It's Getting Warmer...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It's Getting Warmer out there and I feel like a kid playing the seek and find game saying this.  But it really is getting warmer.  I was beginning to think that since Mother Earth is taking a Time Out that maybe she cancelled spring!!

Quiet day at home today.  My breathing is still difficult....getting better but marginally.  Of course it does not help that my triggers are outside and are trying to spring forth!!

For lunch today we had spaghetti with sauteed broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, yellow pepper, onion, and garlic.  Topped with feta and pesto that I made last summer and kept in the freezer until recently:

For dinner I must have had spaghetti on my brain as well because I made spaghetti squash Parmesan and garlic bread from the freezer:

For dessert we had Strawberry/Blueberry/Cherry Crisp with fruit from the freezer:

After dinner and before doggie walk I put together three sets of blocks for my Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt.  I had all the pieces cut so able to sew together quickly:

"Sew"  that's all from around here.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there๐Ÿ™

Day 11...

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Hope y'all are keeping well.

Up and out with kiddo and doggie twice today for a total of 7.12 miles.

Still eating from the pantry stash.  Dinner tonight was Lentil balls with Couscous, spinach, mushrooms, and fried onions on top:

One of our favourites so I made enough to have left overs for tomorrow๐Ÿฒ.

Did a bit of knitting today but nothing to really show.

After dinner I did Step 7 of the Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt Along:

"Sew" far I am managing to keep up with the daily steps.  Let's see how long I can keep this up๐Ÿ˜ผ

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Friday tomorrow.  Keep safe, get outside for some fresh air and exercise if you can and WASH your hands๐Ÿ™.

Day 10...

Good Evening Internet Friends!!

"Sew" as you know I have decided to participate in the Laundry Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt Along.  Here are blocks 1-7 completed!!

The quilt is made from yardage but of course I do not have the yardage and I certainly was not about to go out and purchase fabric as I am trying to decrease my crafting purchases.  I am using fabric from my stash and hopefully this works out.

Out with kiddo and doggie twice today so walked just over 7 miles.  Here's hoping that we are not several pounds heavier when this is all over.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Thursday tomorrow.  Stay safe, try to get outside for some fresh air and exercise and most importantly; WASH your hands.  ๐Ÿ™

Smell the Roses.....Achooo....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Busy day as usual, but another awesome day.

My mantra for this year is to take care of myself.  Yes, I will still cook dinner, and do laundry but I will do everything in a way that makes me happy and gives me satisfaction.

Took a quick walk this morning and one of the things I saw was:

I was perfectly beautiful.  Yes, I smelled it and sneezed and then rubbed my eyes all the way home. It was just so pretty!

This evening I finished the binding on my Plenty of Fish quilt.  This was a mystery quilt top I completed a few years ago.  I made two of these quilt tops entirely from my scrap stash.

Last year a friend of mine got engaged to a man she met on an online dating website.  I decided that this quilt would be perfect for their wedding.  The entire quilt top is made with scraps from other quilts I have made - "sew" just like their lives they each come with stories.  The only previously not cut into fabric for this quilt is the backing and the binding.  This is to symbolize their fresh start together with all of their stories:

Slow Day? Sew Day?

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I awoke in the middle of the night to an ill child.  So, today was a stay at home kind of day.

After sleeping late a breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and gingerale was served.  Followed by lots of television watching.  I learned all sorts of things about measurements today.

While he slept and watched television I sewed the binding on my Mi Vida Loca Quilt which at any given time served as a quilt over him.

My new friend Brenda did the long arm quilting on this one:
It's an all over flower pattern and looks very soft on here.

This afternoon when the mail arrived I got a package that I had hoped would arrive for National Nursing Week:

Now, to decide exactly what to do with this half yard cuts ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

At Two O'Clock in the Morning.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I was singing these words at 0200 hours this morning when I finally got all the pieces and borders assembled and sewn onto this quilt.

As you can see in this not very good picture (remember 0200 hours - neither camera or I were awake) one of my quilting buddies decided that it was time to take a rest, and since I was "sew" tired I even let him pause there for a bit:

Here the quilt is by morning light on its way to get quilted:

After picking up extra wide flannel backing at Woodland Quilting and also picking up my version of this quilt that I had sent out to be long armed we headed over to Sparrow Studioz for me to do the quilting.  The staff there were super helpful ☺  I had taken a learn to long arm class there last summer but never had the time to go back sooner, so essentially had forgotten everything I had been taught!

Getting quilted:
My son took a turn doing a row of stitching.  It's his contribution to this quilt since it is a Wedding Present for my friend ☺

All Done!

I am "sew" super chuffed with myself right now for having done this.  I have never long armed before and I did the entire quilt which makes me "sew" happy that every stitch in this quilt has been done by me (or my son)!  ♫

Tick Tock, Tick Tock.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

For those of you that have been following my blog for a while now you will know that my dear friend Brandy is getting married this summer.  Over a year ago I started a quilt for the occaision.  In typical Kathy fashion though I sewed all the blocks, but seemed to have no motivation to sew the blocks together until tonight.

Here is the center part of the quilt.  This quilt is one of the two that I did for the Mi Vida Loca mystery quilt.  The side borders and pieced units are still to be put on, but at least the center is complete:
I have to admit that although I get "SEW" frustrated with the instructions for these quilts, I do always enjoy the end product.  Now, here's hoping that I can get it quilted before mid July ♫

If A Quilt Falls on the Floor.....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

It's the middle of the week so not much time for quilting today.

I did manage however to sew on row six of my previous Prairie Quilt Militia mystery quilt.  This is that one that has been frustrating me for months and is still doing "sew".

Here are all six rows with only one more to add on:

And now for the question: If a quilt falls on the floor will a cat sit on it?
YES!  ALWAYS!  ♫

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Saturday Randomness

Good Evening Internet Friends!

This is my weekend to work, however I took a Professional Development Day today to attend a Diabetes Nurse Educator Education Event.  It started WAY TOOOOOOO early this morning: 0745 hours.

The presentations were good and we finished mid afternoon which allowed me time to hop over to Pam's Woolly Shop for the Grand Re-Opening.

Of course I left there with some items that I just could not possible leave behind:

On top of that I won the 3:00 p.m. Door Prize:
I love the sheepy napkins, the jury is still out on the other thing, some kind of weaving sticks, but...  I WON a prize!

After dinner I managed to sew row 4 of my Prairie Quilt Militia mystery quilt on.  There are still three more rows to go.  Here is what I have so far on this quilt and am trying to force myself to get it done and get quilted:
TAH DAH!

Now off to complete laundry and get ready to work tomorrow night ♫

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Spring is Sprung????

Good Evening Internet Friends!

So apparently today marks the official start of spring I am told.  Hmmmm, I think the Alberta forecast was not informed of this.  This is my street this morning:

Honest, there was hardly any snow out there yesterday morning.  Thankfully my neighbor came by with the quad runner while I was at work and plowed it out for me so I did not have to! ☺

No birds out there today!

Today is Day 6 of the Tree Bird Blog Hop hosted by Lana at It Seams to be Sew.
The participants for today are:

Check out their awesome projects!

This evening I sewed together the first row of my latest Mystery Quilt that used up a lot of my "stash" bird fabrics:

 The entire row.
 Left side of the row.
Right side of the row.
Hello Kitty attacking the entire row!  Silly cat ☺

Finally Friday!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I cannot believe it is finally FRIDAY!  After having the migraine earlier in the week I just have not got my energy level back up yet.  This week has dragged on and what with extra curricular activities I have not been able to go to bed earlier either.

This evening after dinner, loading the dishwasher, vacuuming and mopping the floor I spent some time with my Prairie Quilt Militia mystery quilt.

These are the 24 blocks that I made, not sure exactly how they are to look because of "pattern difficulties" that have been present with the pattern:
I love the fussy cut inspirational messages in the block centers.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

And We're Off....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The temperature outside is -11 C (12 Fahrenheit) and lightly snowing.  This time tomorrow I will be in much nicer temperatures in San Diego!  Measles here we come! No, not seriously, we are all vaccinated.

While I waited for the last load of laundry to dry I worked on my Prairie Quilt Militia mystery quilt.  This quilt has reached a point where I think everyone is just about doing their own thing.  As I mentioned before the instructions were missing several pieces that culminated in Step 9!  After a lengthy time out, I think I just might be able to get myself through this, and looking at some of the adaptations some fellow quilters have made I am pressing forward:
I put the inspirational bird at the top of the pile in an effort to keep me "Inspired".  ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Lost....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Yesterday since I was feeling quite ill I spent most of the day on my Galaxy Tablet looking at all the great blogs that were featured on Grow Your Blog.  I saw so many fantastic projects, and I am even going to try to crochet again....someday.

Back to work of course today, still not feeling great so this evening all I managed to do was sew the top border onto my flying geese units for the next step of my mystery quilt:
Now for the lost part.  The instructions have changed yet again for how to assemble these and so I will likely have to make one more star block and assemble they flying geese alternately.

On another note; I chose the title "Lost"  for today's post as well to pay tribute to how my community of Edmonton/St. Albert is dealing with the loss of an RCMP officer.  Makes my quilting problems insignificant...

Now for some cough and cold medication, a hot cup of lemon tea with honey and I will cozy up with a quilt in the recliner with my knitting and hopefully fall asleep. (zzzzzzzzzzz)

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sick Day and Quilting Breakthrough

Good Afternoon Internet Friends!

My son has been battling a sinus infection now for close to a week, and of course when your mom is a Registered Nurse and PICU RN for the first ten years of her career, you can probably imagine how often you see the pediatrician and or how often you get medicated.

Well, finally I broke down today and took him to see his pediatrician.  He is now on antibiotics (drat) and has been asleep most of the afternoon after a nice lemon tea with honey.

While he was is sleeping in the spare bed with cat and extra quilts I worked on my mystery quilt.
Here are 25 completed blocks for Step 9 (sounds like I am recovering from some kind of addiction, but sadly the addiction only grows......):
Now to try and wrap my head around Step 10 and the several corrections to make there as the pattern has changed a few times since we started this mystery....\ : {

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Carry On....

Hello Internet Friends.

Today I decided that in between loads of laundry, baking and dinner preparations I would work on my mystery quilt.  I am taking it one step at a time at present as there were so many errors in the project that to get it completed I will have to just fix one step at a time to get it done.  I have come too far to just abort this project!  ☺

Here is what I completed today:
Now to finish dinner, and maybe start the next part later this evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Return from the time out???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

After a day off, and some time to contemplate life or things, I have decided to persevere on with my poorly written, miscounted mystery quilt!  I really did need a time out from it ☺

Here is what I managed to do this evening:
All 63(?) 47 (?) or 741(?) whatever the number is set of the centers for these blocks completed.  Now to finish the top and bottom row that surrounds these!  Patience.....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
