And Then....

 Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

Super busy of late and forget to post here.  On vacation at the moment.  First week almost finished...  Have not accomplished much as the temperature has been in the 35 Celsius + (95 Fahrenheit) range all week!!! Too hot to do anything.

I did almost finish my Finish Line Socks today.  These are from the January Biscotte Yarns Mystery Sock Box.  Will Kitchener Stitch these closed tomorrow.

Just after I received this box Kitty destroyed the contrast colour!!!  I contacted Biscotte Yarns and not only were they super helpful but their first concern was for Kitty!!!  Love supporting small businesses for their amazing customer service.

During our move and the build of our new home doggie was without a fenced yard.  For those 2 years he had to be walked at least twice a day and I have continued that with him.  Great exercise, and I have zero dog mess in my yard.

Every day we walk through a wooded area next to a new construction site.  There are always lots of fresh excavated rocks out and about.  I love rocks!  Always have.  I have started to collect these rocks rather than just look at them and bring them home to my backyard flower bed.  So far I have:

Early this spring I decided that I would start my own seedlings at home rather than participate in the panic rush at the greenhouse.  Last year everything was sold out in record time.  I purchased the Vita garden beds from Costco and set forth on my garden adventure. Zucchini is in bloom and has little zucchini.  Seeds from

Raspberries also from Costco greenhouse:

Seed potatoes from Salisbury Greenhouse in Sherwood Park:

Tomatoes are also from Seeds of Change seeds:

While out on our walk this evening we ran in to a Dumb Bunny.  S/he stopped about a meter in front of dog and just stared at us.  Did sit right down before eventually casually hopping off!

So.....cue the music...that's all folks.  Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you a BEST Day EVER Saturday tomorrow.

Happy Saskatchewan Day!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope that those of you celebrating Saskatchewan Day or Civic Holiday as it is called in other parts of Canada had a BEST Day EVER!!!

No I have not fallen off the earth (it's not really flat!), just be super busy of late.

Today I had a Kathy kind of day.

Took doggie for a walk and then went out with my bike for a few miles.

Watered my plants as it did not rain last night.  Super happy with my lily plants.  Bought these easy grow lily pots last year at Costco.  They were beautiful last year but I wondered if they would survive winter in the garage at just around the freezing temperature.  They DID:

Picked the cherry tomatoes off my deck planter.  One for the bowl, two for me kind of picking:

Baked a batch of Zucchini Brownies with a zucchini I had dropped off by a neighbour:

SOOOO Yummy.

Keeping with the baking I baked a double batch of Coconut Banana Bread and will drop one of these off for my next door neighbours:

Used up some of the veggies from the refrigerator and made nachos for lunch with a sour cream dip I made earlier in the week:

Bit of a different kind of lunch but will have left overs for lunch tomorrow.

Laundry and some house work this afternoon.

Ran the park and hills with a friend this afternoon while pizza dough was rising.  Used up more refrigerator veggies including the last of the zucchini with fresh mozzarella:

Pizza sauce was homemade and in the freezer from an earlier batch.

Heavy rain hit at dinner time so lawn should be good for a few days now.

Will do a bit of knitting now before heading out with doggie.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Tuesday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.😷

Saturday Things...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Up early for some reason.  Must have thought it was a work day.  Walked doggie.  Made breakfast and was headed out to do things by 0900.  Stopped for some fresh fruit and veggies.  Went to Johnson's Sewing to see what was new and pick up some more turtle fabric for use in some of my projects:

Found a few other things that I decided that I "needed" as well.

After lunch I touched up the paint on the patio umbrella stand.  Planted the flowers for the verandah and deck.  Untangled the garden hose and put out the patio furniture.  Potted the peppers and tomatoes in pots. Strawberries are in bloom.  Basil smells fabulous.  Deck looks like summer!!

Took kiddo out for a bike ride around the park and community before dinner.

Since it seemed like spring I decided to barbecue chicken legs, roast potatoes and served with coleslaw:

It WAS Delicious!!  I even ate a few bites of chicken before remembering it was a chicken.  The barbecue was delicious though with the potatoes☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity.  Wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Sunday tomorrow.  Stay Safe.

Easter Sunday...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I hope that y'all had a blessed Easter Sunday at home on Self Isolation.

Today was a quiet day around our house.  We had toasted Babka with homemade Strawberry Jam from the pantry, poached eggs, milk and fresh fruit for breakfast.

Took doggie out for a walk and while out I slipped hard on the ice.  Whacked my elbow that I had fallen on ice 2 weeks ago with again!!!  The swelling and bruising was just starting to go down.  When I fell today I got ice rash (?) and bled from my elbow all the way home!  Bandaged up the area and took a pain medication so then needed a nap.  Had planned to roast a chicken for dinner but arm hurt too much so we had left overs.

I did check on my lily planters this afternoon in the garage:

They're sprouting!!!  Spring might be on the way!!!🌷

Sewed on the very last row of my 2018 Red and White 52 Week Block Challenge after dinner.  This is now ready to go for long arming:

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspired your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Monday tomorrow.  Stay safe out there....

Easter Saturday...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Busy and productive day despite being on Self Isolation.  We have not left the house other than to walk doggie since I got home from work on Thursday evening.

Made buttermilk pancakes for breakfast this morning.  We are still eating from the pantry.  I do get fresh fruit, veggies and milk once a week as those are staples in my world.  Whipped cream and Quebec Maple Syrup are staples from the refrigerator:

Took doggie for a walk around the park and lake while a batch of Easter Babka rose:

After lunch I baked it:

Had to sample some fresh out of the oven and it was delicious and really soft.

On occasion I do cook a bit of meat and although it was Friday this was something kiddo wanted.  So, I made slow cooker short ribs with a mushroom cream sauce, shelled peas and carrots that were part of my fresh fruit and veggies this week, roasted garlic mashed potatoes with green onion topper:

After dinner I checked on my chive planter that has spent the entire winter on the patio against the house and........

SOOOOO excited!!!  This means that spring might actually be on the way!! 🌷

Spent a bit of time in my craft room this evening and put the second last border on my Lush Quilt.  There is another 8 1/2" border to be put on.....but I think I am going to leave it like this:

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the BEST Day EVER Easter tomorrow.  Stay safe out there.

Rest In Peace...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I always get to tell people that I have the BEST job EVER.  I get to be there for people in their time of need whether that be acute or chronic.  I get to learn about what makes each of them who they are.  One of my patient's over the years I have learned and heard about his love of gardening and been the recipient of many boxes of tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, cucumbers, dill and apples from his garden.  Every year he starts a ridiculous number of seedlings from the seeds that he harvests in the fall.  A few weeks back he brought in for me tomato and pepper seedlings.  Today I found out that he passed away suddenly the day after he dropped these off for me:😿

Guess I will be harvesting the seeds from these tomatoes and peppers this fall🍅🌶.

Took a bit of time to myself after doggie walk this evening in the craft room and made another of the 52 Week Block Challenge Red and White blocks:

TAH DAH!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Wednesday 🥳.

It's Saturday!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Today I had BIG plans to do nothing.  It was going to be a relaxing sleep in kind of Saturday.

Unfortunately the workers who are putting in the new gas lines were in my back yard at 0632 hours this morning.  Now I guess they did not start the jack hammers etc til 0805 but the trucks were outside running, they were planning their day, and unloading equipment and in general making a lot of noise at a very early hour.  I tried to go to sleep in another part of the house but that was no help.

After breakfast my son and I did some house work, then cut the grass, weeded the side gardens and tidied up the flower beds.

After lunch I took him for a hair cut.  Beat the back to school rush.

Then it was dinner time and after dinner we went out for a bike ride (sans puppy):

The city looked really pretty this evening:

Arriving home I decided that I would take some time to myself this evening and do some quilting.  Currently I am working on the 2016 Row by Row blocks that I have:

This row is from Piece by Peace Quilts (okay I still LOVE this name) in Fort St. John.
'
Off to do a little knitting before bed and hopefully the pipeline guys take Sunday off!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Salsa Time...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It's Salsa Time!  No, seriously, really it is!

I have got all kinds of tomato things going on in my world right now.  There are the ones that get a little soft that I throw in the freezer, the ones that looked like they should go to the freezer and a couple that freshly grew on the plants outside.

So, I gathered them all up this evening and made SALSA:

From the left overs that I scraped out of the pot when all 6 jars were filled; it's very tasty!

YUMMY!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Best Kind of Day

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my day off before starting evening and night shifts this weekend.  I had big plans for the day, but instead ended up having not a very productive day by any means but a really good day.

After getting kiddo on the bus for school I took the puppy (yes I still call him that he is only 9 months old) for a walk in the River Valley:

Then I headed out to Greenland Garden Center where I picked up a few fun things, one of which was a lavender plant for my front yard.  I have one out at the farm but never seem to catch it at the right time to be able to cut and dry it for my soap:

It already smells beautiful!

Met hubby for lunch at The Pint for deep fried pickles and Halibut and chips!

This evening kiddo had a school presentation that we attended.  It was so really well done by all the students and it was amazing to see how many of them actually used critical thinking and did not just go with main stream media concepts, but actually thought about what these ideas meant.

Since it was late by the time we left the school we stopped at Tony`s Pizza Palace.  This is one of the pizza places that for sure makes Edmonton the 8th Best Place in the World to get pizza (the only Canadian city on the list of 14).

Watered the plants and the new sod I put down today next to the flower beds when we got home and then I assembled another row of my Raise the Roof quilt:

Now to do a bit of knitting before bed as tomorrow will be a long and busy day!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

End of the Week?

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my equivalent of Friday because it is that time of my work rotation to work the weekend (sad face).  Although it was only a 2 day work week because of Victoria Day I still packed in a lot of work and am tired!  Tomorrow is my day off as Friday I agreed to an over time shift (what was I thinking?????).

Yesterday evening and a bit of this evening were spent doing some urban gardening.  I do not have pictures right now.

After it got too dark to play in the yard this evening I decided to start/finish a quilt that has been sitting in my craft room for over a year now!
TAH DAH!!!

Two rows completed!

Now I should probably head off to bed as there are lots of errands to do tomorrow!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
