Going Banana's....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today I finally went bananas!  Seriously.  There were 6 bananas on the counter looking sadder by the day.  As of 1500 hours this afternoon three were safely sequestered to the freezer and the other were brought forward:
TAH DAH!!!

Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, Flax Seed Banana Muffins.

They were delicious and my son was super excited to have fresh muffins as we have been out for a few days now (shhhhhhh).

After dinner, kiddo, dog and myself headed out to the River Valley again; 6.3 miles this evening.  Looks like Spring might actually be here ☺

Of course I need to up the doses and frequency of my puffers but it is SO worth it.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sooooooo Hot....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today the temperature reached 28 C (82 F)!  This is kinda hot considering a week ago we had snow falling.

Kiddo and I did lots of yard work, and I started a project on the car that I shouldn't have.....

After turning on the air conditioner this afternoon I did not want to use the oven so for dinner we had Turkey Sausage, spinach, onions, garlic, mushroom and sun-dried tomato pasta skillet:

It was really tasty and there is enough for left overs tomorrow.

After dinner Kiddo and I took the dog for a walk as it had cooled down to 26 C (79 F).

It was a beautiful evening for a walk in the River Valley.

Together At Last...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

This evening I finally was able to join the two sections of my Starting Point Wrap:

This was a Mystery Knit Along over 5 weeks last spring!  Between working, being mom, taking care of a house hold, and pets and yard work in addition to all of the sewing I did to help out my neighbours business venture I got seriously behind.

My goal for myself this year was to take care of me first and of course my family obligations but not to spend time helping others more than they do.  As such, I am starting to get caught up on some of my own things and am crafting for fun when I want to and not on someone else's agenda.  I craft for FUN and only when I want to!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Quilt for Humboldt Broncos

Good Evening Internet Friends!

If you follow my blog with any regularity you will know that I live in Alberta, but when people ask me where my home is I will always say Saskatchewan.  I will clarify that I live in Alberta, but that is not home.

As you also likely know there was a very horrific bus crash very near my home recently.  Of course the quilting world came together to make quilts to provide comfort to those affected by this tragedy.

Here is my contribution to the effort:

I hope to post this quilt top along with the binding tomorrow after I remove the cat fur from it!  Seriously, he was asleep and while I went to get the phone he prowled across the house just to sit on the quilt top!!! 🐈🙀

The fabrics for the quilt top were all from my stash.  I did run out of black and extra green for the outer border.  I was super impressed though with some of the quilt shops in the area who helped out with these quilts.  Sew Divine was sold out of black and green by the time I got in, but they told me that Quiltessential Co still had.  I was pleasantly surprised to walk in the door and right in front of me was an entire display with all of the colours for making these Quilts For Broncos.

"Sew" not only do they have the amazing Gammill long arm machines but this display of support for my home area will make me support such a local business again.

Best Day Ever......(Again)...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was the Best Day Ever (Again)!

My day started off my friend dropping off a whole bunch of home baking that she did this week.  My son thought this was as good as Grandma coming to visit because I only ever make one type of cookie at a time, and today he got:

Chocolate Muffins
Peanut Butter Cookies
m & m Cookies
Chocolate, toffee, hazelnut Cookies
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Lemon Blueberry loaf (in the freezer)

Along with jello and juice guess what his diet consisted mostly of today???

After lunch I picked up my special promotion boxes of yarn for Local Yarn Shop Day which was today at River City Yarns.  I LOVE that place.  They seriously have the BEST stuff.  Each box contains 5 mini skeins and a cat stitch marker and came with a store bag:

I really want to get started on one of these but alas I am supposed to be studying for my National Re-certification exam in less than a month.

Yesterday my friend Tara (cookie lady) and I were supposed to attend the Drayton Valley Quilt Show but I was unable to attend as my son was ill and needed attending.  Very fortunately another friend was going and she agreed to pick up my pre order from Purple Katz Quilting.  I was able to get this order this evening and now I think I shall head off to my craft room to see what all I can cut with my fancy new Tula Pink Rotary Cutter.  Thanks Liz.

I had pre ordered the Tula Pink All Stars Fat Quarter Bundle to replace the Tabby Road Quilt I had made for my Grammy (long story there), Tim Holtz Wide Backing for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt, and the rotary cutter as I like having 2 and I like heavy rotary cutters.

Sick Day...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Well, it was bound to happen I guess.  My son came home with a cough, sore throat and woke this morning with a fever.  Poor little tyke looked and sounded terrible.  So, it was a sick day today.

After lunch he decided that maybe home made cookies would be something he would like so we made some.  Okay, I made them he looked on sickly.

He ate one and then went and had a nap!  Someone is NOT feeling well.

I asked him what he would like for dinner as food intake was limited most of the day and he wanted Spaghetti Casserole just like him uncle (my brother) makes when he comes to visit.  So, I made Spaghetti casserole and Caesar Salad (although I ate all of the salad):

After dinner we watched a movie and despite it being Friday evening I did not even have to argue about going to bed!

Toyota Knitting...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my weekly day off so it was errand day of course.  One of those errands was to get the oil changed in my Toyota Highlander and that of course meant a trip to Sherwood Park Toyota because the difference in price between the cheapy oil places and there is $4.00.  Seriously.

While the oil was changed and the car was given it's yearly servicing check up I knit!  I was able to finish the second part of my Starting Point Wrap:

Now to join the sides together and maybe I will have this done by the date this five week Knit A Long started last year.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sunday Funday...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The weekend is over and not really sure where it went.

Today of course was laundry and house cleaning, hair cut for kiddo and then I decided we needed to clean to car on top of that; washed, vacuumed, and all surfaces wiped and the leather seats cleaned as well.

For lunch I made macaroni and cheese.  My son loves homemade (although my neighbour reminds me that it is not homemade because the pasta came from the box) Macaroni and Cheese in his lunch:

We also tried a new drop sugar cookie recipe and used a new bottle of Sprinkles that I found at Bulk Barn:

Delicious!!!

Around all of this and walking the dog I did a bit of knitting.  Last weekend while I was fixated on the news from back home I took back my knitting 8800 stitches to fix a mistake that I noticed.  Now the mistake has been fixed and I am moving on....

TAH DAH!!!

Hoping everyone had a wonderful weekend and Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Shopping for a Cause

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" (pun intended) I headed out this morning with the intent of getting some solid black and maybe some extra green for my #quiltsforbroncos quilt.  The first store I stopped at was sold out, but they suggested that I try Quiltessential Co so I headed out there.

I was "sew" amazed that as I walked in the front door they literally had a display set up with all the fabrics to make the #quiltsforbroncos.  I was super impressed with their display for this cause.  I always try to shop local and shop businesses that have a social conscience and of course during this time I have noted the businesses that took the time to support this cause that is near and dear to me.  I will remember that with my future purchases.

I did get solid black and some green, but I also found a few other fabrics that needed to come home with me:

On top of that it was Open House Days for the brand new Gammill Long Arm machines that they have in house and will be my local rep for ☺  I tried one of these out and it was AMAZING!!!  "Sew" excited to try this myself and see what I can do about finishing my own quilt tops ☺

Will try to finish my #quiltsforbroncos quilt tomorrow.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Resume

Good Evening Internet Friends!

This is my first post in a very long time.  A week ago there was a very bad accident back in my home part of Saskatchewan.  Not only was this in my home province, it was also in the area I grew up.  I can honestly admit that I have been in shock and watched everything on the television, and read everything since last Friday about this tragedy.  There has been so many calls to and from my Saskatchewan friends and even my Manitoba friends have been calling and sending me info.

Community is a very big part of where I come from and as such I headed to my craft room this evening to help with that sense of helping a neighbour in need.  The Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild has started #quiltsforbroncos and I knew this was another way in which I could help from 800 km away.  This evening for the first time in over a week I went to my craft room.  Here is what I made:

Surprisingly enough I had all of the necessary colours in my fabric stash!  I love the colours of this quilt because it reminds me of the Saskatchewan Flag.  Tomorrow I will venture out to get some more black and green to add borders and then the quilt top will be posted to Haus of Stitches for local quilters to add the Bronco's logo to the quilt before gifting to victims/families/first responders.

I felt good about making this quilt.  I was raised with the values of helping your neighbours, and by doing this I am using those community values to return to the same community.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
