More Pumpkin....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Last night I baked the pumpkin so that I could have pumpkin for making pies today.  I ended up with 12+ cups of pumpkin mash so I decided to start using it up.

First off was breakfast where we had pumpkin oatmeal pancakes topped off with fresh raspberries and maple syrup.  Yum:

After breakfast it was time to prepare pie crusts for the pumpkin pie that I am taking to Thanksgiving Dinner this evening.

I discovered that I had no butter in the freezer.  No vegetable shortening either.....so.....I decided to use canola oil that of course I do have to make pie crust:

Filled with the pumpkin pie filling and off to bake:

Surprisingly enough these crusts turned out amazing!  I will definitely be making this substitution again 😼

Dinner was being hosted by my neighbour and since I did not have a hostess gift other than the pie.....I made a Thank You card:

Dinner was fabulous and I think turkey brain has homesteaded as I am super tired and it is not even late. 😴🛌

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving Weekend.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 2 Drags Onnnnnnnnnnn.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Day 2 of the hand looking like a giant paw is almost over.

After getting my son to school I needed more pain medication and that of course meant a nap.

When I woke up I felt good and wanted to take on the world but with a paw that is kind of hard to do.

So, I wood oiled my barn ladder and then put the quilts back on it 😼

After dinner, walking the dog and getting my son off to bed I attempted to do some crafting.  Other than some stamping nothing else worked.  "Sew" I made Thank You cards"

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Cards...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

During the time that I was moving, cleaning and organizing my craft room I discovered that I have some REALLY amazing stuff hidden down there ☺

I found several boxes of the Paper Pumpkin paper crafting kits I used to get until I decided that they just really were not worth the value.

I still do not think that they are worth the price, however while cleaning I decided that I could turn all the card kits into Thank You cards.

After dinner, laundry, homework checks and getting my son to bed I took a few minutes in my newly almost clean craft room and made:

Nine Thank You Cards!

I will be giving these to my friend and neighbor to use with her customer fabric orders.

"Sew" if you receive one you will now know where it came from ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Finds.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Now that I have cleaned and organized my craft room I have assigned areas/space for each of my different crafting pursuits.  I have a quilting, a knitting, a cross stitch and a scrapbooking area.

This evening I used some of the prepared card bases I found to make some Thank You cards for my neighbor to include with her customer orders to help her out:

"Sew" if you place an order and receive one of these you will know where it came from ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

We have headed out on the annual family vacation.  Destination; somewhere in Montana via Saskatchewan to visit my Grammy.

My dear friend is house sitting Hello Kitty (the cat) and she also deserves a Thank You card for celebrating my son's birthday with us so very early this morning I was making Thank You cards!

TAH DAH!

School's Out!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my son's final day of the 2015-16 school year!

Of course in typical Kathy fashion I started his teacher gift a little late.  Thankfully though due to days off from working the weekend (it was a long one, over time every shift) I finished the gift at just after 0200 hours this morning and had a thank you card made by 0300!

Gift:

Side pockets with apple buttons for the teacher:

Thank you card:

TAH DAH!

Now, it's off to bed as I have to work in the morning!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

A Couple of Snow Angels

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I woke this morning to snow falling.  It fell until mid day when kiddo got from school.

I feel privileged to live in a newer home in an old neighborhood because I have the best of both worlds.  A house that does not need a lot of maintenance (yet) and I have a huge yard, of course I also live on a corner lot which makes it bigger than the other yards.  When it snows I get to clean both the front and side sidewalks of my yard.  It is a lot of snow!!!  While kiddo has been small I have been very fortunate that one of my older neighbors realizes that I am home alone with kiddo frequently and he will take out his quadrunner with plow and clear the entire sidewalk for the neighborhood.  ☺

This evening my son and I decided that we could be the Snow Angels  for our block and as such we cleaned both sides of the street for our neighbors.  Unfortunately, several of them came out to thank us and make small talk which involved; hearing about their opinions about another neighbor [who coincidentally had opinion about them as well]; their latest trip to the ER; their new medication; and did I think that "this" should be assessed by a doctor?????  Apparently they all know my occupation.   Note to self, shovel the walk after senior's lights out (1930 hours???).

My craft for today is a card that I made for my friend Sharon who quilted the cats on the quilt for my Grammy.  She did not want payment so instead I got her a Groupon to my Hairstylist and enclosed it in a card for her:

Hope she likes it.

Now to get ready for bed as tomorrow should be a Quilting Road Trip with Sharon through Central Alberta because we just "need" more fabric.  ROFL.......☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Official Start of Summer Vacation

Good Morning Internet Friends!

My son got up early today, even though it is the first official day of Summer Vacation and started the day out with a bit of Phineas and Ferb.  Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day!  Well, most days I have it stuck in my head...

Since yesterday was the last day of school we gave his teacher her farewell gift.  Of course that included a Thank You card:

Of course this card was made with all retired Stampin' Up product, but it looks pretty I think.

Here is a pic of the gift ensemble that we gave her.  I think it looks awesome and is a perfect teacher gift! ☺

Cards in a Bag...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well, the veeeeerrrrrry long week is finally over.  Was still not feeling particularly creative this evening, but figured I should do something.

I decided that I would clean up some in my craft room.  Maybe two minutes into this project I found the Stampin' Up Simply Sent Good As Gold Card Kit.

Cleaning can wait til later ☺

So, this is what I made:
As I mentioned earlier, I was not creative tonight so I just mindlessly made these eight cards, took me almost an hour, but....TAH DAH!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Friday!

Good Evening Internet Friends!  I cannot believe it is finally Friday.

I have not had a lot of crafting time this week, however, I did make these:
I was the Charge RN last weekend of a very busy department. The snow had just started to melt outside so every second patient coming in had some sort of broken bone!

I was so proud of how the staff cooperated and worked together.  With two more nights to go I made these on Saturday morning when I got home and wrote a personal message to each inside thanking them for the great job they do.

The effect was a very happy group of people that kept up the momentum for another two long grueling nights.

Now, since it is Friday it is the official start of the Tree Bird Blog Hop hosted by Lana over at Sew We Quilt
 Tree Bird Blog Hop
Check out the participants projects for today at:
Friday, March 13
I am currently still working on mine (no surprise there....), but will have it ready (fingers crossed for March 18th - my day).  ☺

On a fun note; this evening after dinner we all piled into the Go Go Go Toyota and headed off to the Lindt Midnight Madness sale.  The Easter Bunny did some shopping while we were there and of course I HAD to bring home this:
No, sadly it is not a Lindt truffle as big as a placemat, but it is filled with 44 of them! ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Poinsettia Thank You Cards

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Every year my son's school does a fundraiser selling poinsettia's.  These poinsettia's are just beautiful, and everyone loves them.  Of course it is mostly my colleagues that purchase these poinsettia's and as such I feel that they deserve a thank you card for purchasing these plants in support of the school.

Here are the cards that I was up until 0200 hours making earlier this week:
I love how these look and turned out, but they were super time consuming, so not likely to make it onto my Christmas distribution this year ☺

I have had a few questions about how these were made so here goes:

Joyful Christmas poinsettia and leaf stamp

Stamp with Versa Mark

Emboss with Gold Embossing Powder and heat set

Color with Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities Markers

Cut out with scissors and adhere.

Glue Dot in Center and add beads!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Monday...

Good Evening Internet Friends!
I have finally had the strength to make it to my craft room after another flare up of my asthma.  The experts are all saying it's a "hard spring" here in Alberta, well no kidding!!!  My use of puffers is border line ridiculous!
Anyways, I ventured to the my craft room to quilt, but by the time I made the 14 steps in total there I was tired out (looks like another night sleeping in the recliner).  Since quilting seemed like too much of a task (my craft room is not set up to be user friendly on purpose to force me to walk from the sewing machine to the ironing board) I decided to color with my Copic Markers.
Here is what I made:
The card design is based on Mojo Monday 344.
Am contemplating making another of these later in the week with a different paper theme I came across in the craft room for my Friday project this week!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Thank You Cards

Today my family and I walked in our annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
The weather was awful, it drizzled on us most of the time, but here is our progress:

Somewhere after 4 kilometers we started to slow down and literally smell the roses ; )

Yay, we made it for another year!  Maybe next year there will be a cure and we won't have to walk!!!!

The weather looked even worse on our drive home:
Now, of course there must be a craft associated with today.
To say Thank You to all of my friends who not only support me financially every year on this journey, but also everyday support me with the "fun" of living for decades with Juvenile Diabetes I made Thank You cards.
These cards are made with the For The Birds stamp set from Stampin' Up that I won as the door prize at Karina's on Friday!  They came in perfect this afternoon!
Thank you to all of you who support me with your encouragement, and friendship, you make living with Juvenile Diabetes a lot easier : ), you will never know how much this means to me!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Poinsettia Thank You Cards

Every year my son's school does an annual fund raiser selling poinsettia plants from a green house in Chilliwack, British Columbia.  These poinsettia plants leave the greenhouse very early in the morning arriving very late afternoon/evening in Edmonton, Alberta.  These plants are always beautiful and no one is ever disappointed with them.  Each year the number of them that I have to distribute grows (what a pun).
Of course, to say thank you to my friends and co-workers who go along with this annual tradition I make Thank You cards to show our appreciation for their contribution to the school.
This year I actually used all Stampin Up product on these cards.
The base is gum ball green card stock, with a layer of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper.  A layer of Primrose Petals, and Very Vanilla run through the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.
The "Poinsettias" are made cut from Raspberry Ripple card stock using the Fun Flowers Bigz Die.
The button centers are leftovers (OMG - yes I used old product again....), and of course the Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon.
I think that they are beautiful!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

A Quick Thanks.....

I needed a quick Thank You the other day, and so this is what I came up with.
Scraps of Real Red, Summer Smooch Designer Series Paper, and Whisper White card stock.
The Betsy's Blossoms stamp set was still sitting on my desk so I used it along with the So Happy For You stamp set from Sale-a-bration.  A left over Real Red button for the card center, and TA DAH ...done!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

The Hoof Beat goes on

A very good friend of my family (since I was a child - yes dinosaurs still freely roamed the earth) sent a birthday present to my son.  Now, this friend is a true horse lover, she owns and rides Arabian horses and loves anything knick knacky and what not that has horses on it.  So, to say thank you for her gift I used the 2 left over fabric panels (not truly left over - I got them to make this for her) to sew a pillow for her.  The finished size fitted an 18" square pre-made pillow from one of the craft stores.
The thank you card was made using Early Espresso card stock with Old Olive, and Wax Paper Resist technique again sponged with Pear Pizzaz and Marina Mist.
For those of you who might want to point out there is not enough Stampin Up product here, don't worry, I will put all of this in a Stampin Up box to ship it in!!!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Cupcake Thank You

After the cupcake party I needed to make Thank You cards for my friends that came and celebrated with me.  Of course, still obsessed with cupcakes I made these cards at 2300 hours last night (red eye crafting).  The cardstock is Stampin Up: chocolate chip, certainly celery and pretty in pink colors.  The certainly celery eyelet border was made using the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge cut at 1/2".  The ribbon I am not sure when or where I got it, but it was in my stash (craft - not cookie), and the greeting is from the Swirls and Curls Verses set (hostess set from the 2011 Summer Mini Stampin Up catalogue).
I think these are happy cards, and I hope my friends appreciate them as much as I did their celebrating with me.  Hope this inspires your own creativity...
