It's Saturday!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Today I had BIG plans to do nothing.  It was going to be a relaxing sleep in kind of Saturday.

Unfortunately the workers who are putting in the new gas lines were in my back yard at 0632 hours this morning.  Now I guess they did not start the jack hammers etc til 0805 but the trucks were outside running, they were planning their day, and unloading equipment and in general making a lot of noise at a very early hour.  I tried to go to sleep in another part of the house but that was no help.

After breakfast my son and I did some house work, then cut the grass, weeded the side gardens and tidied up the flower beds.

After lunch I took him for a hair cut.  Beat the back to school rush.

Then it was dinner time and after dinner we went out for a bike ride (sans puppy):

The city looked really pretty this evening:

Arriving home I decided that I would take some time to myself this evening and do some quilting.  Currently I am working on the 2016 Row by Row blocks that I have:

This row is from Piece by Peace Quilts (okay I still LOVE this name) in Fort St. John.
'
Off to do a little knitting before bed and hopefully the pipeline guys take Sunday off!!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Building Log Cabin.....Quilt Blocks

Good Evening Internet Friends!

My work week is finally finished!  I am super excited to be done for this week as I have come home with a headache every night this week due to the stress on my eye.

This evening after dinner and walking the dog I took some time and went down to my craft room to work on my  Row By Row  blocks from Piece By Peace in Fort St. John.  I love the name of this shop because it is "sew" clever it combines quilting and geography in its very name!

"Sew" far I this evening I have made almost four of the six blocks I need to make to form this row:

TAH DAH.

Now I shall go rest my eyes, most people would go to sleep, but not me! ☺

I'm back......?

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I have not posted for a while now and that is because I have had my creativity diminished physically over the past few days.

I was doing great last week getting all sorts of kitchen and quilty things done and then Friday happened.

Thanks to my allergies earlier in the week I managed to scratch my cornea while scratching my eyes...seriously.

Friday started with a trip to the family doctor regarding the eye pain, then to the optometrist and then to the ER where my eye was fixed, patched and I was heavily medicated.

Yesterday was the first time I left the house.....sunglasses and a very large hat of course.  Although I spent the weekend at home and could not go anywhere, I also could not do any crafting!!!!

This evening after getting some things tidied up around the house and organized after no house work in five days I went to my craft room and made:

Alas, my eye is hurting and the headache has returned so that is all for today!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Salsa Time...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It's Salsa Time!  No, seriously, really it is!

I have got all kinds of tomato things going on in my world right now.  There are the ones that get a little soft that I throw in the freezer, the ones that looked like they should go to the freezer and a couple that freshly grew on the plants outside.

So, I gathered them all up this evening and made SALSA:

From the left overs that I scraped out of the pot when all 6 jars were filled; it's very tasty!

YUMMY!

Hospital Fun Bag Treats

Good Evening Internet Friends.

My friend is still in hospital with pregnancy complications and we are not sure she will be getting out any time soon.

This has been quite trying on her three year old son.  To help with the dilemma of his mommy being in hospital I assembled for him a visit mommy at the hospital back pack.  The back pack stays with mommy and he gets to play with it when he comes.

The bag is filled with little toys for a three year old boy, cars, trucks, horse figures, crayons, coloring books and a couple of short read books.  Every day when I visit I also bring a snack to leave in the pack so that he has an afternoon treat.

This evening I quickly made Peanut Butter Marshmallow treats with fish sprinkles for him:

Yes, I sampled some just to make sure they were tasty!  They were ☺

Itch....Sneeze....Scratch....Snuffle......Wheeze....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I awoke in the wee hours of this morning with all of these wonderful allergy symptoms.  I really could be a cast member for an allergy medication most days of the week but this morning was especially bad.  I did go in to work for a couple of hours but looked so awful that I got sent home.

After some Benadryl and a prescription antihistamine eye drop I woke up this afternoon feeling a little better.  Not perfect but better.  So while my home canned chicken soup cooked for dinner I put the borders on my Strawberry Table Runner:

I think it's just "sew" pretty and summery!

Monday......

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Somehow the August Long Weekend has slipped through my grasp.  I am not any more rested but at least I can check off a few things completed!

One of the things that I completed today was to make Beet Leaf Buns.  These are something from my childhood that are a ritual/passage of summer.

I got up early this morning and made bun dough:

I even let it rise twice to make sure it was super soft! ☺

Washed the beet leaves from my garden:

Dough just slightly bigger than a golf ball:

Dough stretched out:

First layer in the old time roaster drizzled with whipping cream, chopped green onion and dill:

Second layer place on top and then let rise again.

Bake covered at 350 F for about an hour:

DELICIOUS!!!!
