Getting Ready....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well, it's true.....the count down is on for Canada Day 150.  It has always been a dream of mine to attend Canada Day in Ottawa and on Parliament Hill and this year my son and I will be doing just that!  I am starting to get excited!  It has been almost a year in the planning ☺

Today I picked up and subsequently planted my Canadian Shield Rose:

This evening after all the household tasks were done I finished the first of the lattice socks that I made with the 7 stitch diamond shape on them.  Unfortunately, the pattern does not show up well under the photo flash, but trust me it is there!

This yarn colourway is named Alpine Meadow from Ancient Arts Yarn:

Now, I am going to try valiantly to complete the second one of these.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

A Quick Pause

Good Afternoon Internet Friends!

Have not been blogging or posting regularly with the Living In Fast Forward that I have been doing lately ☺

On Friday after two appointments for myself and my son's yearly pediatrician check up I took a bit of time before picking him up from school to stop by my local quilt shop.

As always the visit was wonderful and I found a few new things that I just "HAD" to have.

First off the Rotary Cutter with a Quick Change Blade.  Plus, I loved the fun colours this came in ☺

Next:

This pack of rulers.  You likely know I make a lot of half square triangles in my quilting adventures and these rulers are perfect for marking the sewing lines rather than the large grid rulers!

I was "sew" excited about these that I had to actually use them (and the cutter) when I got home:

The rulers worked awesome and I found out that they have a bit of flexibility in their make up so re-positioning is super easy ☺

With my fabulous new Kathy's favourites I made:

Another of my Flock of Geese Blocks!

Now it's time to get dinner prepped for the oven for the family and get myself off to work.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and

What's up Wednesday???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I have put in my two days of work now for part of this week.  Will be off Thursday and Friday as I am working the upcoming weekend.  Second last batch of these shifts that my rotation mandates.  After July I will only be working the weekend shifts if I choose too, which of course will be phenomenal to not have to coordinate child care ☺

Two and a bit weeks ago I decided to dig deep into my Yarn Stash and participate in the Joji Mystery Wrap Knit Along.  So far I have managed to complete part of the first half of Clue 1!!!  What I find amazing is that there are actually people out there who have both parts of Clues 1  & 2 all done!!!  Here is my progress:

The first of two almost completed ☺

Over the weekend I planted my Martha Washington Geranium's.  I was worried that something might happen to them during the wind storm today but arriving home I saw:

They made out just fine!  ☺☺☺

It's Over.......

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The long awaited Victoria Day Weekend is over.  I would like to say that I accomplished great things, but alas, that is not so nor "sew".

Saturday my son and I went to Telus World of Science.  My son a couple of years ago when caught not paying attention in Math class was asked by his then teacher how he expected to become an astro-space engineer.  He replied that if he it did not work out for him he could always fall back on being Prime Minister.  On Saturday the current Prime Minister was in attendance at Telus World of Science so my son wanted to meet him.  He was fortunate enough to shake hands twice and have a brief conversation.  That made my son's day. ☺

Saturday afternoon I cleaned up all the rogue branches and weeds and just anything I was displeased with in my front yard.

Sunday, I cleaned out my neighbours flower bed.  Seriously.....I did!

Today was just boring get ready to go back to work and school for the week.

After dinner I took out my current sock knitting in my newest Tula Pink Creation and did a bit of knitting......I have made it to the heel finally ☺

Wish Upon a Star Block???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well, today marks the end of the work week for me and the start of a 4 day weekend!

Not exactly sure what my big plans will entail, but I have 4 days now to do something...

This evening after walking the dog and getting my son off to bed I made another Star Block from the Star Block challenge I started last year.

I need to make 52 of these blocks and really I have no idea what number this block makes, but needless to say, I need a lot more.....

TAH DAH!!!

Hopefully, I can wish upon a star and get some more of these blocks done this weekend, and my knitting, and my flower beds planted....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Another Pouch....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Spent this evening making another Tabby Road Knitting Pouch just so that I could write the pattern for these little pouches.  I think that they are just plain fun to make and everyone seems to love them as well.  "Sew" as of very late this evening, the instructions for how to make these are complete!!!

One of these days I shall have to make one of these for myself.  ☺

Star block

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well, my version of the weekend is over and back to work tomorrow.

I would like to say that I accomplished a lot, but that would be fictitious.  I did a few errands and got a few things organized.  I knit a bit and spent a bit of time in my craft room, mostly organizing and sorting.

I can show you that as of this evening I have made yet another Star Block:

How many more of these blocks you ask???  Alas, I do not know as I did not feel like counting them out this evening ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy Mother's Day

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.

My day started out with my son and I making Cinnamon French Toast for breakfast:

Yummy.

After breakfast we baked some sugar cookies and packaged what we did not consume (trust me it was hard to stop) for some friends for Mother's Day.

In the afternoon we took the dog out for an almost 6 mile walk in the River Valley

After dinner I took a wee bit of time to myself and made another Flock of Geese Block:

Now to retire with my knitting and maybe get to bed on time tonight ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Anyone Awake???

Good Morning Internet Friends!

After working an evening shift this evening I have been quite productive!

Laundry, dishes, vacuuming, watering plants and refrigerator clean up......DONE!

A bit of knitting on two different projects after my son went to bed.  Trying to get caught up on them both as I have a very large project to start tomorrow ☺

Speaking of the "BIG" project I decided I needed a Knitting Pouch to keep my stuff in while otherwise occupied.  The Zipper Pouch bags I made were a hit at the show last weekend.

Another Blue Tula Pink Tabby Road knitting bag.  I really do like the colour of the fabric and the skein of Naughty Little Rabbit really wants to be cast on into something ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

And Tuesday is Knitting Day....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

That is correct.  Tuesday is Knitting Day because that is what I do while my son is at music lessons - okay sometimes I take a nap in the chair, but mostly I knit.

Today I continued on with the Alpine Meadow colourway of the Ancient Arts Yarn.  I love this colourway and after carefully debating what kind of pattern I should use I actually graphed out my own diamond over 8 stitches and what I now have is:

TAH DAH!!!

It's simple enough to not detract from the yarn colour, but also just enough to add some texture and some skill to this sock ☺

Quite pleased with myself this evening.

Here Kitty Kitty

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I am posting a little early this evening and my son and I will have to be leaving early tomorrow morning to get to the Claresholm Fibre Arts & Quilt Fair.

I made one last quick easy project to display the Tabby Road Fabric this evening:

Another Knitting Pouch.  This pouch will hold a skein of wool and the project you are working on currently.

Plus it has these awesome coloured cats on it so I think it is pretty "Top Drawer".

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

The Summer Chill is Here!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Earlier in the week I blocked the Cowl that I designed with some really cool yarn.

This evening I added the button to it and finished writing the pattern for it.  This cowl will be making it's debut at the Claresholm Fibre Arts & Quilt Fair this weekend.

My son has named it the Summer Chill Cowl because it is bright and summery in colour, but also has strands of roving interspersed throughout the skein:

This cowl is quick and easy to make along with just being fun to knit ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

HOLY Cats!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Today was another slow day.  I did get up and get my son to school, and myself to work but by 1030 hours I was EXHAUSTED!!!!  Who knew a Registered Nurse would spend her day walking????

Coming home I slept for 6 hours straight!!!!

Feel a little better this evening but the cough is still tight and lingering.

After my son got home from school and just before dinner I sewed the last row of 5 blocks on to my Tabby Road Quilt.  I think that this quilt will be going to the Claresholm Fibre Arts & Quilt Fair this weekend:

This quilt really is BRIGHT!  But as my son says "what's not to like about it"?

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Slow Moving

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Had a very extensive list of things that I wanted/needed to accomplish today.  As of right now, most of them are still on the list because it is still hard to accomplish things with my lungs right now 😷

I did stop at Bead World after dropping my son off at school as I wanted to make my Yarn/Thread Cutter.  I had NO idea that there were so many amazing beads in the entire world!!!

I spent over an hour in this place , albeit I walk slow right now, but you should see the selection!

I purchased some leather cord and finally settled on Zuni Semi Precious Polar Bears because I thought there were "fully" not just semi precious.

This afternoon I made my Yarn/Thread Cutter into a pendant:

I will likely be making a few more of these for the Quilt Show this weekend, as long as I have the strength, time and most of all energy☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Blocking Kathy

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Okay, there is actually a back story to my title tonight that is currently giving me a good laugh.  For the purpose of this blog entry though I am talking about blocking with regards to knitting. ☺

Today I managed to muster up enough energy to block my new cowl scarf of which I have written the pattern and will have at the Claresholm Fibre Arts & Quilt Fair this weekend.

People buy all kinds of things to block their knitted items......I tend to be Saskatchewan Ukrainian Cheap or as my new knitting friend from Vancouver Island calls is - Practical ☺

I find the biggest and oldest beach towels (the ones I used when training to be a life guard) as these are the ones that have no more possible colour run or ability to leak colour on to anything.

I spread these out on top of my really big deep freeze and lay the knit item out and stretch it to shape after a quick rinse with SOAK:
Here I measured the width of my scarf and folded the towel back on itself on a fold so that it would also help keep the size of the cowl consistent.

Then I used these Wonder Clips I picked up at a local quilt shop for this purpose☺

After pinning the remaining towel is folded over the cowl until the towel is equally around the cowl and I roll it  up very carefully making sure the towel loose end is on the bottom....the weight of the towel will keep the towel from unwinding.  In about 2 days it will be all dried and ready to wear ☺

Except for the button I need to sew on!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
