Fresh Start...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope that everyone had an AMAZING New Year's Eve and Day and that this is going to be the BEST Year EVER!!

Last night kiddo and I attended the Broadmoor Lake Park Fireworks as we have now for a few years.  It is always an amazing show.  It was super cold out but thankfully I had my newest knitted toque on:

On Sunday evening I found an old copy of the Northward Toque I had knitted several years ago.  In my stash (yarn) I also just happened to have this skein of Superwash Six - a bulky 100% Merino.  I thought this was a perfect knitting combo because both the yarn designer and pattern designer are from Vancouver.

This toque is an easy and quick knit and I think I might need to put it into use a little more frequently.

Last night there was a bit of snow fall and wind so when I took doggie out for his walk this morning the world was our blank slate:

It was also an added bonus that the temperature was only about - 2 C (28 Fahrenheit).

It was very peaceful out and as such we were able to be about 10' from this dude and watch him closely:

The doggie even sat very still watching.

This afternoon I sorted through my scrap fabrics in preparation for the 52 Week Block Challenge.  As you know I have done this challenge for the past five years.  I am a bit behind on the others right now but hopefully with a bit of planning I can fix that up.  I have now sorted through the scrap fabric on my desk that has accumulated since moving and cut it to the various sizes that I will need for these blocks.  All scraps are now in plastic zip seal bags ready to be sewn into blocks.

A friend gave me a tote for Christmas that I have decided will be the perfect size to store the bags of scraps and the sets finished blocks:

Left Block is Flock of Geese 2017 - these blocks were a casualty of moving.

Middle Block is 2018 Red and White Snowball - just behind on this series.

Right Block is 2019 Jewel Box.  "Sew" far I am not behind yet🤣.

Will relax for the evening now with a pair of socks that I am knitting that have a special mission and I should get those completed ASAP.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Done!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Yesterday our family cat named Hello Kitty passed away.  Not sure why or from what.  He had been acting strange the previous day but not suspicious enough for me to take him to the vet.  Yesterday was a hard day for all of us.  For now I am DONE with having a cat.  That may change in a while but it will again have to be a special kind of cat.

This afternoon I finished up knitting my August Sock Crush socks.  These socks are an Afterthought Heel sock and have taunted me for 4 months now.  Here they are completed and I am victorious over this process.  I do not think I will under take this style of sock again any time soon:

TAH DAH!!!!  I am DONE!!!!

For some reason over my hiatus from the real world I discovered a knitting phenomenon known as the Temperature Blanket.  It's basically a blanket that you knits according to the weather outside and a chosen set of colors.  I live in Alberta where temperatures will range in either the Celsius or Fahrenheit scales from below zero to ridiculously high in the summer months.  These are the colors I have chosen for my project:

Normally I do not knit with Acrylic yarns but since this is going to be a rather large project I did not want to spend a lot on a most likely goofy looking knitted blanket!  These are all skeins of yarn that I picked up in Spruce Grove the other day as part of my road trip and my latest soap box mission of not shopping in Edmonton or as little as possible (bus tickets for my son).  DONE!

This evening we are headed out for dinner and the fireworks in Sherwood Park to bring in the New Year.!!!!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and overall wonderful 2017 and hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy Fourth of July Summer Vacation Day 8

Today we left Thompson Falls starting our journey back home.  We traveled as far as the Helena National Forest  and decided that was a good place to camp for a couple of days.   Right at the top of the continental divide!  You can literally see everything from here☺
After dinner we went to East Helena for the fireworks:

The Paper Pumpkin kit for the month of June is my craft for today.  As you likely know I  have a love hate relationship with this product.  Some months the kits are great and others I really don't know what they were thinking when the kits were created.  This month's kit again is one that I am confused about.  Although the kit is fun, there was only one choice of paper that seems to have an Independence Day feel to it.  Now, don't get me wrong, my grandfather was from there, but I was not given an option of a Canadian kit, only this one. Since I was present in the United States today I did use this kit for making a treat bag for my son, however, what would I have done with it had I not been here?????

I found some appropriate colored licorice and put in one of the kit bags for my son and he thought it was "Top Drawer".
Hope this inspires your own creativity. ..
