Center Block 4!!!

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

I have officially made it to the half way point of the Kathy work week.  All down hill from here ☺

This evening has been a chaotic whirl wind.  First off through a series of what some might find comedic errors my son missed his school bus.  Great.  Thankfully I work close to his school and my managers are really understanding.  I drove to the school as fast as I could loaded him up in the car and went back to work.  One of my physician colleagues agreed to see one of the patient's in my absence.  I don't think my son was too impressed with having to sit in the waiting room as there was someone there vomiting.  Might re-enforce the importance of catching the bus???

Getting home there was homework to do as he could not spread out in the waiting room to do this, walk the dog, feed and water the dog, eat dinner, and depart for skating.

Made it in time for skating! While I was waiting for him at skating I sorted through lentils from the farm removing seeds, and such in order to cook them when I got home.  The Dietitian at work decided last week that we should have a Pulse Potluck to celebrate Dietitians Day tomorrow!  (Seriously).

After getting the lentils and the brownie into the oven I went to my craft room and worked on Center Block 4 of my Churn Dash Challenge Quilt:
TAH DAH!

Now off to check on the baked lentils and the brownie and maybe even get to bed before midnight!!!!  ROFL.  Who am I kidding???

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Has Anyone Seen Monday???

Good Late Evening Internet Friends.

In case anyone see's Monday please let me know where it is.  I know where Sunday went, but as of this evening not sure where I lost Monday...

I know for sure there was no crafting there.  This evening after dinner my son had skating.  We hurried dinner and getting the skates etc in the car and got to Millennium Place, skates on and on the ice only to realize that there was only 2 other children from his group there.  After asking a million staff we found out that the class had been cancelled as the instructor could not make it this evening!

So, he free skated for a bit.  We came home and got garbage ready for pick up tomorrow and then kiddo was off to bed.

Since I had a few minutes to myself I went down to the craft room and made:
Block 33 of my Churn Dash Challenge.  I have some vacation in February coming up for which I will be at home and might get caught up on these.....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Knitting Along...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

It has been a very long day and I think I will head off to bed soon.

Earlier this week my Grammy was fortunate enough to be placed in the long term care facility in her own home town, with residents she knows, and staff that are colleagues.  I am SO happy for her.

That means of course that she needs some clothing as she only came back home with the clothes that she was admitted to hospital with at the time of her stroke.  This morning my son and I were up and out the door bright and early to hit up the sales at Sears, 50% off clothing today.  All the old lady best brands were on sale so I stocked up for her on pants, sweaters, cardigans, layer shirts, nighties and blouses.  She will be the best dressed resident I think!

Then we headed off to The Bay  (my favorite store) but a lack of the old lady brand name clothes.  Part of the reason for being at the mall early was that I needed to go to the Clinique counter for moisturizer and the Clinique Gift Pack.  I LOVE this pack.  It is becoming a holiday tradition for me to pick one of these up, and to make the deal even better today I got 10% off my purchases!!!

A quick stop for a cookie at Cookies By George and we were off to skating!

My son is doing well with his skating and today it was hard to get a picture that was not blurry as he was really motoring along:

After dinner it was time to take puppy for a long walk in the river valley.

As for my crafting I rationalized that I did not have quite enough projects on the go tonight so I cast on another Fisherman's Wife Cowl.  I am using Poinsettia Thick & Quick that I picked up in Kalispell last spring.  I love this particular yarn because of the metallic threads that run through it, however, photographs of the project are hard to get because of the reflection from the metallic threads:

In just under two hours I am well over half way done.  I plan to gift this to my Secret Santa recipient at work! ☺

Now off to bed as tomorrow is another action packed day.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Super Sunday!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a Super Great Day!

After flax seed whole wheat pancakes and poached eggs for breakfast my son and I headed off to Rundle Park to go ice skating.  However, the warm weather seems to have played havoc with the river/ponds over there and outdoor skating was closed.  So, we walked around the park.  The temperature was -13 Celsius (9 Fahrenheit) so not too cold for us.

The park was very pretty with the newly fallen snow and not too busy today so we took our time:
Breakfast

Where we would have skated.

Marching into the Ranger Station

Some bird brain was out making tracks in the snow...

Another bird brain making tracks!  I wore my Sorel Campus Tall Boots because we were going skating.  I take these boots with me when I know I am going to have to be out of my boots because if these get stolen I know that who ever stole them must need them more than I do, unlike my Brooks Tall UGG Boots.  Notice the polar bear in the tread shows up kinda cute in the snow. ☺
Checking out the park through the lens...
Trying to climb the rock structure, not too easy with winter boots and woolen mittens ☺

That was our outing to the park.  Came home and made bread,  and then pizza for dinner, since it is Super Bowl Sunday:

Hope you all had a Super Sunday and,

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Christmas Vacation Day 12!

Happy New Year`s Eve Internet Friends!

Today we somehow managed to do a lot of physical activity while supposedly trying to just relax!  We went skating on the Canmore Skating Pond, then climbed the old ski hill trail behind the resort:

View of the Trans Canada Highway in the background.

Almost at the top...managed to get to tree line and back without the assistance of a puffer!  One for the asthma team!  ☺

Looking at these views from way up there I really realized how fortunate I am.  These views that people from all over the world come to appreciate are in my own backyard!

When we got back from our hike I managed to finish Step 8 of the Prairie Quilt Militia mystery quilt that I am working on.

We went for dinner in Banff then back to the Canmore Skating Pond for the fireworks at 2030 for the children.

Now to watch the midnight fireworks and then off to bed as last day skiing tomorrow..

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Today I finished Step 6 of my Prairie Quilt Militia mystery quilt:
All 24 blocks!  "Sew" pretty!  Now to try and get caught up on the other steps....

This afternoon my son and I went skating on the Canmore Skating Pond.  Now to watch a movie and eat popcorn!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Merry Christmas Vacation Day 6!

Merry Christmas Internet Friends.  I hope that everyone had a wonderful day.

My son had us up by 0730 this morning to open stockings and presents.  I think he was a little worried that Santa would not find us since we were away from home.

The view outside was beautiful this morning:
Looking back somehow a lot of time today was spent either cooking or baking.  We had pancakes for breakfast:
With Maple Syrup and canned sliced peaches these were FABULOUS!

After lunch I made two pumpkin pies using pumpkin I had frozen in the fall:
After the pies were out of the oven my son and I went ice skating while my husband stayed to cook the turkey.  When we got back I made cranberry sauce to go along with the turkey and all the fixings.  The cranberry sauce was delicious as usual but I forgot to take a picture of it before it became leftovers.

Here is how I make my cranberry sauce:
1 bag of fresh cranberries rinsed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup water

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and cook until boiling and the cranberries burst and the sauce is the thickness that you desire it to be,

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and hope your day was full of wonderful memories and food.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
