Off to Market

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today my son and I headed off to the St Albert Farmers' Market.  There was lots of wonderful products and after stopping by the library as well we picked up some vegetables and two bags of green onion cakes.  Yum.

We did not eat any of this bounty this evening as we went out for dinner with the neighbours for my son's 13th Birthday 🎂

After dinner we ventured over to Rundle Park to check out the goats they have grazing the river valley this year.

Not a goat person, but I have to admit they are kind of cute, but they can stay in the park.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Monday Madness

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I somehow survived a day at work with my allergies today.  I literally looked like I should be on an allergy commercial!

Arriving home from work since it had not rained today and I already looked like a wreck I decided to mow and trim the law and clean up the flower beds which kiddo and I did before dinner!

After dinner I took my son to the Trout Pond.  He did not catch anything tonight but had lots of fun and we got to see goslings:

They were so cute!!!

Lots on the pond as well:

The park looked so pretty with all the green foliage:

After kiddo was in bed I went to my craft room and made Block 5 of the Star Block Challenge:

Now, it's off to bed for me as well!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

A Slow Crafting Week

Good Evening Internet Friends!

This has been a rather slow crafting week for me as I have had so much to do.

Monday was a waste of a day getting back to real world hours.

Tuesday was more fun.  I went for lunch with a friend to the Soup Sisters Eatery close to her work.  On the way back I stopped at Local Meats for some ground beef.  I also stopped at Real Deal Meats to pick up Beef and Bison smokies for the weekend and bones for the dog!

Then it was on to Quilter's Dream.  I had not been there in a really long time, so I stopped to see what treasures they had:

Just could not leave these behind!!!

Arriving home my shipment from Sew Sisters Quilt Shop had arrived.  I do online shop from Sew Sisters because not only are they a Canadian small business, but the postage rates are reasonable (sometimes free shipping), and the prices are competitive (cheaper than some of the home based fabric businesses), and lastly since they are a a small business my order arrives sans cat hair and smelling like three day old dinner!

At lunch time today I decided to take some time to myself and go for a walk in Borden Park:
It's always so pretty here.

Part way through the park I came upon this vista:

I loved it for the symbolism; which path to take.

Right now I am trying to remember to take time for myself rather than just always doing and helping others.  So this evening after dinner and walking the dog the only thing I did was bake cookies because that seemed like a fun thing to do!

Yummy!  Chocolate Cream Cheese Cookies!

Tomorrow will be a long and hectic day so for tonight I eat the cookie and enjoy!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Saturday ☺

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Although it is Saturday of the Family Day Weekend my son and I were up early.

The first thing we had to do was attend the Home Depot Kids Workshop and build:

A Valentine's Mail box!

Then it was off to swimming.

A quick stop for some groceries and then a stop by the Terwillegar Dog Park as I have heard rave reviews about it.  Hmmmmmm, not really sure it is all that great.  I will definitely not be driving across the city to get to it again any time soon.

For dinner we had taco's on baked sweet potatoes:

After dinner we watched The Sponge Bob Movie.  Not sure about that movie at all.  Maybe I needed more "special" brownies to watch it......I don't know.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Super Monday Fun Day!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was officially the last day of summer!  Tomorrow my son starts his new school and I return to work on Wednesday and all the extra curricular activities that did not start last week, start this week.

Today I let him sleep late one last time and watch Phineas & Ferb since it seemed appropriate.  I even made him waffles for breakfast with canned raspberries:

Then we ran one last back to school errand to get a combination lock for his locker as the choose your own combination lock that I got him was a giant piece of JUNK!  Even the girl at Staples told me that these are really hard to open!!!!!  Then why sell them????

Eventually we found a non fun, non colored, plain old combination lock at the Home Depot of all places.

This afternoon we baked Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies:

After dinner we went to the park for a run and to play one last time for summer vacation:

After the final check was done of school supplies, shower, and he inventoried his closet that all his new clothes are clean for tomorrow he went to bed.  Tomorrow should prove to be interesting as up until now school clothes has been a "do I wear a cardigan, pullover or vest with my blue shirt and tie"?????  Since age three this is the first time that he has not been in uniforms at school so I think I might have to get him up a little earlier tomorrow morning as this wardrobe concept may be a little overwhelming. ☺

Earlier in the summer when we went school supply shopping my son did not like any of the pencil cases in the stores because they all "smelled".

In typical Kathy fashion I have had lots of time to sew a pencil case, however tonight at 2200 hours seemed the perfect time to do this.  "Sew" I did with the fun fabric he had picked out from my scraps.  There was not enough for the style he wanted, so he got this:

It is lined with blue whale fabric but I forgot to take a picture of that before putting all the pencils in!

Now I am off to bed to get ready for the BIG adventure tomorrow; first day of a new school and routine for both of us and first day of public school as well and that has been a learning curve for me this summer ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Block 18 ☺

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a "Do Nothing" kind of day around our house.  Not sure exactly why, but I really did not get much of anything accomplished.

Yesterday afternoon my son and I ventured out on a sort of Road Trip.  We went to Lori's Country Cottage because I decided that I needed to participate in the Alberta Row by Row Experience.  I picked up my kit there and then decided it was time to check out the Fort Saskatchewan Sheep:

As usual, they were so cute!!!  ☺

Then we headed on to the Woodland's Water Park because it was a super hot day:

My son had lots of fun running through the sprinklers then drying off playing in the park.  We stopped at the Local Quilt Shop in St. Albert as they are also participating in the Alberta Row by Row Experience.  As usual this place was disappointing again......

Last stop of the day was the library to register in the summer reading program and get a few books to read out at the farm and where ever our travels take us in the next few days.  The piano was out and so of course my son stopped to play for a bit:

As for today, I managed to sew Block 17 of my Churn Dash Challenge:

For dinner, I made a pizza with all the left over cheese, mushrooms and green peppers in the refrigerator:

I think I will do some knitting for the rest of this evening and think about what I can get into tomorrow☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

And Turn Yourself Around....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today is my "Turn Around Day" again.  I came off of night shift this morning and back on day shift tomorrow.  Of course these days are usually a "bust" as was today.

I took my son to school, then stopped at Superstore for a few things and somehow managed to wander the isles for close to an hour.  While there I found a Shuttlecork with a racket set for $9.  Seemed like a deal so I got it.

After school my son and I stopped at the park and played with it:

We had fun! ☺

Bike rides after dinner, water the flowers and tomatoes and get ready for bed.

As for crafting I did manage to complete 96 of these little pieces for my Prairie Quilt Militia Block of the Month.  This is part of Step 4, I think everyone else is at Step 6, but they get to find the mistakes in the pattern and I get to coast through ☺

Later this week I hope to get a little further with these as they are destined to become pinwheels!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Someday.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today of course was back to reality; work, breakfast, lunch and dinner preparations, garbage day and house work!!!

Thankfully I made banana muffins at midnight last night as I found out this morning that we had no bread in the house for sandwiches.  Lunch was banana muffins and cheese along with strawberries and grapes ☺

At lunch today I went for a walk in one of the local parks and the scenery was beautiful with the lilacs and the apple trees in bloom.

After dinner my son and I went for a bike ride over to one of the community gardens where a colleague of mine has planted her garden.

After my son went to bed and all the household chores were completed I made another Churn Dash Block for the Churn Dash Challenge that I am participating in with A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop.  Here is Block 12 (this is week 20):

Here are all 12 that I have completed "sew" far":

Great Big Fat Day of NOTHING!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope your day was as non exciting as mine.

The morning started off with my son annoying the cat:
Hello Kitty sat on the couch for quite a while before he decided to venture out in the house with his decorations.  Eventually he did lose them somewhere. ☺

For lunch I made Salmon Quiche and Caesar Salad:
There is no recipe to go along with this as it is made up as I went.  Somehow the cream froze in the back of the fridge.  Some mouse (you know who you are) ate the last of the Swiss Cheese, and all but one mushroom was gone!

After lunch my son and I walked over to Be A Bella for random amounts of candy.  We stopped at the park to play on the way since the day was beautiful.

When we returned home I sewed the binding on one of my quilts that I finished maybe last summer (maybe earlier) but had not yet put the binding on.  I sewed on the binding and then after dinner this evening hand stitched the binding to the backing.  I wanted to complete it today so that I can take it to the Fifth Wheel tomorrow when I go out to the acreage to plant the garden ☺:
TAH DAH!

Good Friday

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I hope that everyone had a Good Friday.  Today of course was a stay at home day since it is a holiday.

Yesterday my son and I went to Crock a Doodle and while en route there we went through a blowing snow across the highway kind of storm and then had hail on the way home!  I went to yoga yesterday evening and when I was leaving this was the parking lot:
More SNOW!!!!

My craft for today is actually a card that I made for my student RN.  Last Friday was her last day with me as she moves on to her final practicum.  It was a pleasure to have her and so along with a scarf I knit for her as well I made a quick card from one of the Paper Pumpkin kits that I have sitting in my craft room:

Part of my plan over Spring Break was to get caught up on some of these kits.  However, I found out yesterday that I am all out of glue runner!!!!

Not sure how that happened, but since I recently had to place my end of quarter Stampin' Up order which included lots of glue runner to keep my hobby demo status current, I will have to wait on completing these projects because I refuse to buy glue!

After lunch my son and I went to the local park to play.  We did not stay as long as planned as it was  still cold out there.

When we got back home we baked a batch of Cheddar biscuits to go along with dinner which of course is fish on Friday:

I poached the salmon and then topped it with my all new favorite product; Pineapple & Habanero Sauce.

I seriously LOVE this stuff and have been putting it on, and in everything this week.

Since it is Good Friday I will close this post with my all time favorite version of  the Old Rugged Cross.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Super Sunday!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a Super Great Day!

After flax seed whole wheat pancakes and poached eggs for breakfast my son and I headed off to Rundle Park to go ice skating.  However, the warm weather seems to have played havoc with the river/ponds over there and outdoor skating was closed.  So, we walked around the park.  The temperature was -13 Celsius (9 Fahrenheit) so not too cold for us.

The park was very pretty with the newly fallen snow and not too busy today so we took our time:
Breakfast

Where we would have skated.

Marching into the Ranger Station

Some bird brain was out making tracks in the snow...

Another bird brain making tracks!  I wore my Sorel Campus Tall Boots because we were going skating.  I take these boots with me when I know I am going to have to be out of my boots because if these get stolen I know that who ever stole them must need them more than I do, unlike my Brooks Tall UGG Boots.  Notice the polar bear in the tread shows up kinda cute in the snow. ☺
Checking out the park through the lens...
Trying to climb the rock structure, not too easy with winter boots and woolen mittens ☺

That was our outing to the park.  Came home and made bread,  and then pizza for dinner, since it is Super Bowl Sunday:

Hope you all had a Super Sunday and,

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
