It's Snowing!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

After dinner and piano lessons this evening my son and I stopped by the library.  By the time we came out it was SNOWING!

Yes, I am probably the only person excited about snow right now, but seriously, this is Western Canada and almost December and there is no snow on the ground and the temperature has not been below - 6 C (21 Fahrenheit).

After getting all the household chores done and preparation for lunches and clothing for tomorrow I took five (okay maybe seven) minutes to myself in my craft room!

Since there appears to be snow outside I decided to make snowball blocks for a quilt panel that I should have finished a while ago.....

Fourteen more of each of these and I can sort of start the assembly....still not sure how exactly I am going to do the panel.....but inspiration will hopefully come sometime before Friday evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Block 12!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Back to work today and it seemed even more busy than a Monday should have!  Monday is usually my busiest day due to being off most Friday's, but today was non stop!!

Home for dinner and then off to Boy Scouts.  Returning home it was time for home work, piano practice, laundry etc. etc. etc......

Once I got my son settled into bed I decided that the rest of the chores could wait until tomorrow and I would spend some time in my craft room. ☺

Meet Block 12 of the Scandi 3 quilt that I am making:

Now to retire for the evening with my knitting and see if I can get some sleep ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Grateful

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It is officially the start of the Christmas Season in Kathy's world.  I LOVE Christmas.  It is my absolute favorite holiday.

Yesterday while kiddo and I were out we discovered what I think are the MOST beautiful poinsettia plants.  You may remember that my son used to sell poinsettia's as a school fundraiser.  Each year our close friends would always receive one of these as their Christmas present from our family.  My son no longer attends that school, but every year I still keep the tradition of the poinsettia gift going.

This year I decided that I would not only gift these to the usual poinsettia gift friends, but also my friends who have been there for me over a very difficult time in my life.  Not only did these friends all receive a poinsettia, they all received a poinsettia in a Kathy color and with GLITTER!!!!!

This is my poinsettia on the dining table!  I LOVE the color!

Now for gifting it to the friends I wanted them to know that not only was this a gift like previous years.  It was also a Thank You for how truly grateful I am to all of them for the support they have been over the last year.  That meant I needed to make a card.  Don't get me wrong....I have made a few cards over the last year just because I had to, but today was different.  I wanted to make these cards.

Here is the card I made:

I had so much fun making this card and even remembered why I used to like making cards ☺ Plus I got to use glitter .....

The last card and poinsettia was delivered this afternoon to a friend and colleague of mine who has been encouraging me to join a women's group that she belongs to.  For that I am truly grateful.  I met a fabulous group of women, who truly care for, love and support each other.  Today was their last get together of the year due to Christmas activities and as such their Christmas Party.  Guess what we participated in at the Christmas party.........Card Making!!!!

I did have to fix a couple of these when I got home as some ink ran, but otherwise I LOVE these cards.  They made me happy not only making them but also being with other people who are so super supportive of each other.

For my family, my friends, and for all the support I have received this past year and the ability to really and truly look forward to Christmas this year (not just going through the motion like last year) I am so very truly Grateful.

I hope this inspires your own creativity.......I know mine has been sparked again ☺

It's FRIDAY!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was another whirlwind Kathy day.

After dropping kiddo off at school I headed over to Kingsway Mall to get a few Black Friday sale items.  Then it was off to run a few errands and before I knew it the time had come to pick up kid from school. ☺

A quick and early dinner was prepared before I headed off to work for a few hours. There was a staffing shortage so I just needed to cover dinner breaks.  ☺

Arriving home I headed down to my craft room and made Block 11 of my Scandi 3 quilt:

My November subscription of Yarn Crush arrived in the mail today.

My intent was to wrap it and put it under the Christmas Tree and open in on Christmas Day as a surprise gift to myself.  It will be just kid and I home for Christmas this year due to work schedules.

By the time I left work I had convinced myself that I really needed to open it because maybe it is something that needs to be made right away.

Here is the yarn and the knitting needles included for a quick easy knit cowl this month:

Yes, I will be casting this on before I go to sleep tonight!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Pillowcase

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Last night although I did do some knitting it was nothing worthy of showcasing.  This evening was not much more productive on the crafting front.  I keep promising myself to remember to take a few minutes for me to do something I enjoy, but sometimes that just feels like too much work. ☺

Made this pillow case from some fabric I found in my stash:

If you follow my blog you will know that I love pillow cases.  First off these are "sew" easy to make.  Secondly, they make excellent gift bags!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

I'm Sew Far Behind.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was of course back to work and back to after school curricular mom duties!

After getting kiddo to bed I went down to my neglected craft room.  I decided that with the time available tonight I would make another Star Challenge Block from my scrap pile:

TAH DAH!!

This is my Block 11 of the Star Block Challenge that I am participating in from A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop.

This week everyone should be working on Block 46 👀...........oooops, I am a wee bit behind......maybe I can catch up (once I catch my breath from laughing at that statement).

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Jammie Day

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a jammie day.  We slept late.  Made poppy seed waffles with strawberry sauce for breakfast:

Read, watched some tele, and took a nap mid morning.

After my nap I finished one of the socks from my August 2016 Sock Crush subscription.  These socks have been taunting me since then.  I think I have finally got this sorted out though.  It took an email to find out there was a pattern revision that I was unaware of.  I love my Yarn Crush and Sock Crush subscriptions because they challenge me to do things that in 35+ years of knitting I have not done.  The other reason I love these subscriptions is that the lady who runs these has the BEST customer service.  When you email her you get a quick response, and she will take the time to explain a pattern to you if you do not understand ☺.

Here is sock one finished:

Sock two has been cast on and I am ready to do a few rows on it before going to sleep,

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

I'm Back........

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

I'm back....well at least for a bit.  I have big quilting things to do this weekend but will share those with you then.

Tomorrow is back to day shift work after coming off my monthly stint of evenings/nights.  I get two days in which to try and turn myself around......but just like the hokey pokey I am usually just dizzy when it's over ☺

Over the past week I have done a bit of crafting but nothing really productive, and on several projects so no real progress to show.

Very early this morning I completed my Sowen Quilt Shop block for my 2016 Row by Row quilt:

This may actually be my favorite row because the theme this year was HOME and nothing says home to me like my home province of Saskatchewan shown here in all four seasons ☺

With this row I have now completed 6 of the 22 rows that I collected this summer:

The rows I have completed in order of this picture are:
Havre MT
Moose Jaw SK
Swift Current SK
Fort St John BC
Lethbridge AB
Edmonton AB (vertical row)

Can't wait to see how this year's Summer 2016 Fabric Scrapbook Quilt turns out ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Row.....Row.....Row...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I am back.....well for a bit.

I did return to work on Wednesday last week but it was a very long and tiring day as was Thursday.  To top it off hubby got home late Wednesday and we had planned a cross border shopping trip for the weekend.  So, right after work I got into the F 350 and off we headed.

There was not a lot of things that we had planned to pick up so it turned out to be a relaxing weekend and I slept a lot.  I would like to say my lungs feel better, they do, but still not back to normal.

This evening while hubby and kiddo went to do some archery I got all the house chores caught up and even had a little time to work on another portion of the Row by Row I am currently working on:

This is the Saskatchewan Summer portion of the row from Sowen Quilt Shop.

Now to do a bit of knitting before bed.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Row By Row Along....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Fought against chest congestion all weekend only to be crippled by it yesterday.  Attempted to go to work but only made it to 1045 and had to go home and then to the doctor.  Asthma flared up on top of the congestion.

Back on steroids and feeling slightly better today.  Still get tired very quickly though.  Will plan to go back to work tomorrow but have already informed work I will be slow moving tomorrow.

Did some knitting today and did put on the last row of my first block in my Row By Row from Sowen Quilt Shop:

I LOVE this block.  This years theme of course was "HOME" and to me nothing says "HOME" like my home province of Saskatchewan.  I love this block because not only does it have the colors of the prairie and the occasional gentle rolling hills, but it is also in the shape of the province!!!  It's BEAUTIFUL!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
