Cake.....Walk.....

Good Evening Internet Friends๐Ÿ˜Ž

Today was my last day to get things done before we leave for Ottawa for Canada 150 as I work the next two days and then we leave.

This afternoon I chopped up the rhubarb that I got on the weekend.  I froze some and used the rest to make Rhubarb Cake:

This is probably one of my favourite treats of summer!

This evening when we took the dog (horse) out for a walk the River Valley looked very pretty:

Summer Storm...

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

One thing you may not know about me is that I LOVE a good summer storm.  As a child growing up on the Saskatchewan prairies my bedroom had a dormer window with a bench seat.  I loved sitting in that seat looking out through the windows watching the lightning and the rain hitting the windows.

This evening here in Edmonton a summer storm rolled through.  Storms here are no comparison to the majestic ones back home, but it was still a good light show.

I worked a bit on one of my Row by Row blocks from last year.  I am beginning to think I am doing this wrong.  I collect the blocks all summer long from the places that I visit on Summer Vacation.  Last year I collected 22 or 23 (I cannot remember now) blocks that I am making into a 2016 Summer Vacation Quilt.  Kind of like a fabric scrapbook.  Here in my local area though we already have people who have driven to 8 stores and collected their blocks and made a quilt!!!!  Seriously.

Last week my neighbour and I headed out to one of the quilt shops in our area that had a really cute row by row.  Within seconds of my getting into the shop I started to itch.  My body started to turn red and the further I went into the store the more I scratched and got red.  By the time I left my chest was tight and the cough had set in.  The block is still sitting in the package because to be honest I am scared to open it.  Word on the street is the place has had a flood!!!

"Sew" this evening I made from my last year's Row by Row:

This is part of the bottom portion of the row.

As I was leaving my craft room the ground shook.  I looked outside and:

The tree in my neighbours yard has lost MORE of itself!!! This tree seems to fall apart every time we have a wind storm this summer!!!  The entire road is filled with a portion of tree that is larger than the 4x4 pick up trucks that line both sides of the street.  ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•

The storm has settled now it seems so it's off to bed with my knitting for a bit as tomorrow is a complete errand day!

Almost.....

Good Afternoon Internet Friends!

Almost.....almost is kind of my life right now.

It is almost time to go to work for evening shift.  I have almost finished the things I need to do today including getting my son to all his extra curricular and social activities today.

I am almost ready to start packing for our trip to Ottawa for Canada's 150th Birthday.

As far as crafting....that is always an "almost" procedure.  Right now my Canada Day Rag Quilt is almost ready:

Just have to do the snipping part ☺ and it will be ready!

Have a great week everyone and

Cards...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

During the time that I was moving, cleaning and organizing my craft room I discovered that I have some REALLY amazing stuff hidden down there ☺

I found several boxes of the Paper Pumpkin paper crafting kits I used to get until I decided that they just really were not worth the value.

I still do not think that they are worth the price, however while cleaning I decided that I could turn all the card kits into Thank You cards.

After dinner, laundry, homework checks and getting my son to bed I took a few minutes in my newly almost clean craft room and made:

Nine Thank You Cards!

I will be giving these to my friend and neighbor to use with her customer fabric orders.

"Sew" if you receive one you will now know where it came from ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Quilt Time....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" my quilting skills have progressed a lot over the years but there is something very wonderful and cozy about a good ole rag quilt.

When I saw this Canada flannel I decided that I MUST make a rag quilt for Canada Day 150:

My first pile of squares completed.  On to the red next. ☺

Dog Days...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not a whole lot of anything exciting today.

My son and I took the dog out for a walk in the River Valley today.

Prior to going out though I baked Dog Biscuits and delivered some to our doggie friends and neighbours.  They seemed to really enjoy the treats:

Hope everyone had a wonderful day.

I Don't Follow Directions....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

For those of you that know me and those of you that are just finding out......I Don't follow Directions.

I wish I could say that is not true.....but it is.

This afternoon I decided that I would finally make one of the Knitting Pouch bags that I wrote the pattern for.  Guess what?????  I can't even follow my own directions.  I decided to change the pattern up a bit:

I decided that I wanted a colour coordinated base to the bag!

A few minor changes and I have a really cool Knitting Pouch ☺

Then it was time to take Kiddo and "Horse Dog" for a walk:

Horse Dog has settled in for a very deep sleep at present. ☺

These are a couple of new yarn combos I plan to try out:

Now meet Amethyst and green.  I LOVE this colourway as well because it reminds me of Grapes ☺

Canada 150 Socks!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Earlier this week I picked up some Canada 150 yarn.  By special request I had asked for mini red skeins to coordinate with this custom dye:

I was "SO" excited to get started on a pair of socks with red toes heel and cuff but my JRA has been bothering me for a couple of weeks now (the moving and cleaning may not have been good for it).

I am not a fan of toe up socks but because of the style I wanted I chose to use this method.  At first I cast on with my wooden circular needle but since it is small (for socks) my hands got even more sore quite quickly trying to hold the needles.  I switched to my Sock Rocket needles knowing that the metal would bother my hands but hoping that with lots of extra cable I would be able to knit without too much pain.  Not so....it has taken me most of the week to get through the toe portion.  As of tonight however I was able to switch out to my 6" Double Point Needles and although my hands still hurt the needles are long enough and the radius of the sock wide enough to allow my hands to be able to knit๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Now I am really making progress!  Hopefully I can have these socks finished for Canada Day although I might be knitting these on the flight.....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Finds.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Now that I have cleaned and organized my craft room I have assigned areas/space for each of my different crafting pursuits.  I have a quilting, a knitting, a cross stitch and a scrapbooking area.

This evening I used some of the prepared card bases I found to make some Thank You cards for my neighbor to include with her customer orders to help her out:

"Sew" if you place an order and receive one of these you will know where it came from ☺

Space......

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I am starting to enjoy the effort that I have put into moving and organizing my craft room over the last week.

There are some amazing things in that room.....I may never (actually I don't) ever need to shop for craft supplies again!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

The greatest thing about my reclaimed room is that I have more space to do the things I like in a little more tidy and organized manner.

This evening a quick stop in the scrap bucket and I was able to produce:

Another Flock of Geese Block from the challenge I am participating in from A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop.

Right now I have no idea how many blocks I have made "sew" far nor how many I am supposed to have.  I am just happy to be able to walk into my craft room and have everything easily accessible ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sunday Funday.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

My Sunday Funday was yet another day of cleaning.  I am now starting to believe that people really should change houses every couple of years.  When I was in University and even when I first started working I moved every year or so.  Every time I moved I got rid of stuff I did not need going to the next location.  When I bought a home I was all excited about not having to move frequently yet now there is 17 years of stuff that is stuffed into cupboards, closets boxes etc.

I took a break from my Kathy vs The House Conquest this evening and made another quick project.  This is another Kitchen Towel Kit that I picked up

TAH DAH!!!

These colours are so nice and bright and cheery (not cherry) that they brighten up my kitchen I think ☺

Sleep Begins with.....

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

I would like to tell you that I spent a restful day in my craft room enjoying all the fun things I found in there, but that would not be the truth.

In fact, I continued with my cleaning!!!!  As of this evening we have me mounting a full out cleaning assault on my house and so far it looks like the house is winning! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I did find and complete another quick project so that I could validate having started this cleaning frenzy:

TAH DAH!!!!

A really FUN dinosaur pillow case.  Sadly, my son is a little old for this now, but I do know a couple of little boys who will both LOVE this ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

I'm Back.......

Good Evening Internet Friends!

As you can see I have been a little delinquent on the blog posts of late.  That is because very late a week ago Thursday I decided to move my craft room back into the room it had been in previously.  I had been moved out of the room to accommodate for the Mother In Law coming to visit several years ago.  Since she will no longer becoming to visit I decided it was time to take back my original craft room ☺

I had NO idea how much "stuff" aka junk had accumulated in that room over time.  Several blue bags, a couple of garbage bags and 4 garbage bags for donations I am almost completely moved and set up.

This evening I decided that I would do a quick easy project that I could complete and feel like I had done something in my newly acquired space ☺

I made a Dish Towel with a purchased 100% Twill Fabric Dish Towel. I made this one specifically for the barbecue due to the colour.  Since it is destined for the barbecue I chose a "Dad" appropriate fabric:

I am saying that this Dish Towel is for the Super Cool(Crew) Dad! ☺
