Fakin' It...

Good Afternoon Internet Friends!

Posting a little earlier than usual as tonight is Quilt Guild Meeting.  Not sure yet if I am going or not as stupid tired for lack of a better word.

Just in case I do go I decided I should do SOMETHING today as so far I have done a whole lot of NOTHING!

I decided to get started on my Twist Star Quilt.  I had signed up for this class but the instructor moved the class to a date I probably will not be able to attend.  All I have for instructions is the picture and the 2 pages of cutting instructions.  If I want the pattern I will have to buy it despite having paid for the class.

I started with the 12 easy blocks.  Here are 4:

Hopefully this does not become another UFO....

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST DAY EVER Tuesday for tomorrow🎉

Family Day

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I trust that everyone had a wonderful and relaxing family day.

At our house we sure did.  Slept late after watching movies until early this morning.  After breakfast I started on making bread:

While the bread was rising I worked on my Prairie Rose Block of the Month from Prairie Points Quilt Shop.  I was inspired to get back at this twice yesterday; first time was when Lynn posted about putting hers on the quilt frame, second was when a random lady posted hers as being complete!!!  Today I did the center portion of Block 7:

"Sew" far I have completed Blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4.  Really if I just did it I could get it finished.....

After baking the bread my son, the puppy and I headed out for a walk:

I love the classic homes in our neighbourhood.  I really do love these old neighbourhoods.

Just before our walk my son asked if we could have pizza for dinner.  Sure!!!  Whole wheat pizza crust was set to rise while we were out on our walk:

My son did the toppings and as such there is a plethora of mushrooms and most of the block of fresh mozzarella is on there!  Yummy.......

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Knit, wait, what???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I hope each of you had a wonderful Family Day and were able to spend some time with your family.

As for our house it was pajama day for most of the day.

We had left over waffles for breakfast, watched some television and then each did some reading.  After lunch my son and I played two board games and then I had a nap while he played Minecraft.

After my nap I decided to tackle once again my September 2015 subscription of Yarn Crush.  This pattern has been a challenge for me.  First of all it is a toe up pattern, I dislike these patterns, not sure exactly why but they just "seem" wrong.  Then there has been several errors in the pattern along with a sizing issue for me; I have narrow and small feet so even the smallest size if worked to pattern would have a sock 2" too long for my little feet.
TAH DAH!!

I am not sure how many times I have started and re-started this sock, but as of this evening the heel is done and I am on my way up the leg.  Homeward bound.  I think that at this point I am going to modify the pattern and just have a plain back with the pattern on the front because the pattern is quite intricate and I am afraid (as I have learned from other patterns) that with the amount of intricate detail in there the sock may be wider in the leg than I need.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Family Day Weekend

Happy Family Day Weekend!
This Family Day Weekend we have chosen to stay at home (here in Alberta - not the usual Florida vacation) and enjoy the mountains.  We are currently skiing in Banff.  Love it!!
This project seemed perfect to showcase for this weekend.
The frame was purchased from Michaels (40% off coupon).  The frame is made from some kind of really cheap ?pine wood and laser cut.  I rubbed my Early Espresso ink pad across the grain of the wood to color/stain it.  Probably not recommended by your local Stampin Up demonstrator as by the end my ink pad was rather furry looking. Hmmmm.
I cut a piece of left over poster board in the oval shape and then adhered the Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper to it.  No, the paper is not a perfect fit for this project, but if you line up 2 pieces of the DSP carefully, it will work out alright (to quote my Aunt Ivy - a galloping horse would not stop to notice).
The "family" word in the center was also purchased at the same time as the frame and made of the cheap wood on which I also rubbed the Early Espresso Ink pad.
The photo frame at the top used Early Espresso Paper run through Karina's big shot with her scallop oval die,  and the remaining letters were cut from the Plantin Cricut die size 1" shadow image.
Now, for those of you that know your geographical landmarks, yes, the photo is taken at Maligne Lake with the infamous Spirit Island behind us.  One of the many great things about living in Alberta is that so many of the world's geographical treasures are within 3 hours of home!!!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...
