Step 2 Brandy's Quilt!

So if you have been following my blog or for that matter plan to, you will know that my friend Brandy is getting married soon (well, still no date).  Of course, I LOVE to quilt and the upcoming wedding seemed like the perfect reason to make a quilt!
I had picked out fabrics for this quilt prior to knowing about the wedding, but these colors are PERFECT (I think) for Brandy, so since I had picked these colors anyways, I am making my latest mystery quilt for her!
Here is my Step 2 of the Mi Vida Loca Facebook Mystery Quilt that I am working on:
Now, off to do the version I am making for myself from my musical fabric stash ; )

Food On A Stick!

Yesterday at work we held a potluck farewell for Elisabeth.
Whenever someone leaves, or has a birthday or other special occasion we let that person choose the theme for the potluck.
Elisabeth chose what I have dubbed "Food On A Stick" because it just sounded better than kabob lunch!
I made Food On a Stick Sandwiches:
 They were delicious!

Friday Feature Card

Today was my nursing student's last day with me.  I will miss her.  As you already know I made the gift bag yesterday using my Paper Pumpkin kit.
For her card, I used the current (yes, current) month of Paper Pumpkin to make this quick card:
Here is my gift set already for the scarf to go inside the baggie!
She LOVED it, all of it.

Quick Craft

For the past couple of months I have had the privilege of being a preceptor to an experienced LPN who decided to go back to school and get her RN BN!
It has been a wonderful experience, I will admit that I learned some things as well.  I never actually really understood what LPN's do as my entire RN BN career has been exactly that and I have always worked in specialty areas PICU/Peds Home Care/Diabetes Education where there has never been LPN colleagues.
Tomorrow is her last day, and so to remember her time with me and just say good-bye and good luck, I made her a small parting gift (the scarf I knit while on route to Whitefish, Montana).
Now, I just needed a way to wrap it.  Well, thank goodness for my Paper Pumpkin kit from a few months ago:
TAH DAH!!!  Gift bag extraordinaire!

Work In Progress Wednesday

Good Evening Internet Friends.
I have been a little on the delinquent side with my crafting/blogging for the past few days as my life has been occupied with working over time, and having had an epi-pen day (sad face).
Since it snowed (again) today and there appears to be NO chance of spring arriving any time soon, I decided this evening that I felt well enough to sit up and knit on my November Knit Along (correct, not a typo).  It seemed like a completely reasonable thing to do because I will likely be able to finish this project and get some wear out of it before spring arrives!
I love how the detail shows up in the picture and makes the effort all the more worthwhile!
I am going to link up again with Work In Progress Wednesday over at The Needle and Thread Network!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Today my son and I made Strawberry Vanilla Pancakes:
Needless to say, these were DELICIOUS!!!!

Let There Be Bread

Since today is Saturday, it is about time to make bread for lunches this coming week.
This loaf is made of an assortment of whole grain flour left over small amounts that I had in the cupboard!
Now, I have a cleaner cupboard, and lunch bread for this week:

Banana Bread

Good Evening Internet Friends!
It is rather late, but then again, I am the Red Eye Crafter.
As I stood this evening staring at 4 old banana's on my cupboard before bed I decided I would make banana bread!
Now, this is not just ordinary banana bread, it has Poppy Seeds in it!!!
Very tasty if I do say so myself!
Here is the recipe:

Poppy Seed Banana Bread:
1/3 cup canola oil
1/4 cup honey
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
4 mashed bananas
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon soda
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

Mix ingredients together and bake for one hour at 350 F.  Enjoy!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy Spring!!!

Happy First Day of Spring Everyone.  It sure did feel great to have spring arrive today! Oh, wait, what is this?????
It's the Yellowhead west of Edmonton this morning!  I was en route to Drayton Valley for my twice a month work adventure out there and the highway looked like this the whole way!!!
Here is what my Go Go Go Toyota looked like when I got home:
It's been said that I fly low when I drive, now I know why!  The Toyota has feathers, therefore wings!!!
Then of course there was the question as to what was for dinner when I got home.
The answer; Pizza!!
I used the above link recipe for the crust.  My son's favorite pizza is cheese, but I threw in peppers (yellow and green), mushrooms, and pineapple just so our intake of fruit and veggies was present!
And, lastly to my ramblings, further proof that my son's cat really is trying to "get" me:

Work In Progress Wednesday

Good Evening Internet Friends.  I am participating again this week in Work In Progress Wednesday over at The Needle and Thread Network.
This weekend we road tripped down to Whitefish, Montana.  I love the area, it's just so pretty, and there are several awesome quilt shops within "sneezing" distance.  Yes, of course I stopped in ; )
On the way down though, I knitted, and here is what I completed in a few hours:
The rest of the trip was spent playing car games with my son and enjoying the scenery:
Somewhere in the Middle of Montana?  Yes it was snowing/raining at the time of this picture : )
Here are the locals who were also staying at the same resort:
My son enjoyed taking pictures of these locals everyday, they would come right up to the cabin to check in on us I think.
Lastly, the road used to access the cabin we were staying in!!  This is actually the good portion!  The rest of the road was too bumpy to get a good picture, and we were not sure that if we stopped the car we would be able to get going again, as the tracks ahead were soft, squishy MUD!!!!

p.s.  Will post some of my finds over the next few days as I unpack : )

Done and Done!

Late yesterday evening I finished knitting my Turkey socks.
Was very excited to have them done so wore them today to go shopping!
Now imagine my surprise while driving on a rural Montana road when I came around a corner and there were two turkys the same color as my socks standing in the road!
I did not get a picture of them, but I will post some pictures of our Montana adventure soon!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy Quilting Day

Last night I decided that I should really start doing some of the quilt kits and patterns that I have been squirreling away in my craft room as I am likely to return home with a few more before the weekend is over.
I found this kit for these place mats and decided I could start on them:
I know spring is arriving, but once I get the art of these down to a science then I can start on some spring or summer ones!!!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card

Good Evening Internet Friends.
I am doing some late night crafting tonight not just because that's how I roll, but because I am still up doing laundry at this hour for our road trip tomorrow!!
While I wait for loads to dry and finish up, I have been keeping busy in the craft room.
I decided I should play along with the Krafting Crew group and  Mojo Monday 336 again.  Here is what I made:
I love this animal stamp set.  It is just so much fun!

Turkey Sock

I have decided it is time to participate in Work In Progress Wednesday over at The Needle and Thread Network simply because this forces me to get things done!  It is only Wednesday, but it feels like the week should be over!!!  Alas, two more days til the weekend.
This evening I did sit down for a bit and knit, but it is now well past my bedtime, so I will quit.
I am still trying to finish sock # 2 of my November Sock Yarn Club.  This yarn is something to do with the "turkey", (the color way I think), hence why I am calling these my Turkey Socks!
Here is the second one, almost completed:
Now, off to bed!

Block One Done!!!

Yesterday I showed you all the center of the Prairie Rose Block of the Month that I am participating in from Prairie Points Quilt Shop.
I am proud to say that after a busy afternoon of figuring out what went where, and how, I have proudly completed:
Block One!!!
I need to press it a little better but right now all the points line up and I am so excited about that!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Block of the Month!!!

Way back last summer on one of my trips to Prairie Points Quilt Shop I stumbled across a block of the month that was being made for a shop sample.
I LOVED it.  The colors were not my default colors, but the pattern was so neat that I just decided I HAD to participate.
This Block of the Month started in January, but I did not pick up the blocks until February, so here is Block 1 of 9!
Well, actually a part of Block 1.  I am currently working on the rest of the larger block that this belongs in, but there are lots of little pieces that one could go very wrong with and it's late, and my blood sugar is low, so I quit on it for tonight.  Will try again tomorrow.
I think it's PRETTY.
The Block is called Prairie Rose Block of the Month and the link will take you to a link where the entire quilt can be seen and appreciated.
Now, off to bed and remember to turn my clock ahead.  I HATE Daylight Savings Time.  Should have stayed in Saskatchewan...
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card

Since it's Friday I decided I better get back into the habit of posting something on the Krafting Krew site.
I ventured down to my craft room which happens to have three quilts on the go right now, and I stared at all my paper crafting supplies with a big question mark over my head (seriously).  What to make?  No idea!
So, I decided it was time to reference my go to place when I cannot think independently and participate in Mojo Monday 335.
Here is what I came up with:
I love the bicycle paper as well as the recent bicycle stamp from Paper Pumpkin so all in all I think it's fun, and I plan to send it off to my friend tomorrow of whom I always seem to be behind on sending post to.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Quilt # 2

Good Evening Internet Friends!
After working an additional shift at work today/yesterday, when I got home I was too tired to sleep, so I went to my craft room and did some quilting : )
As I posted the other day, I am making two versions of the Mi Vida Loca quilt.
Here is "my " version of this quilt:
I got a bunch of this fabric a while back just because it has music notes on it (I'm always a sucker for musical stuff) and have decided to use it in this project (my last mystery quilt had music notes in it too!!!).
Going to go to sleep now.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Addicted!

Good Evening Internet Friends.  I have decided that I am addicted to fabric and yarn.  There, I said it!
Does this mean I will go to some re-hab venue or something?  No, not likely; I will make a trip to Ponoka, for fabric, not mental health : )
Last evening I started on yet another mystery quilt project: Mi Vida Loca.
Here is Step 1:
This quilt is actually being made for a friend of mine.  When I was picking out the fabrics she kept coming to mind (she likes brownish earthy colors).  Well, she is now engaged to be married, so I figured this would be the perfect wedding present for her!  A quilt from ME!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Around the Block

This weekend I have not got much accomplished in my crafting world.
I did knit some on my sock while my son was at art, but then after working another overtime shift this week, yesterday was pajama day!!!
I did lay out and start quilting this project though:
It is from a quilt kit called Around the Block that I picked up some time ago at Prairie Points Quilt Shop in Ponoka.  It is such a fun quilt shop!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...
