It's Over......

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Well, it's official I guess.....the weekend is over! 😢

Today was boring ole things like house work and laundry, but I did make Butterfinger cookies for my son (I used the recipe straight off the package) and they turned out DELICIOUS:

Between loads of laundry I assembled my weekly Star Block the 4 Patch Star Block:

Any guesses as to what my favourite colours just might be????

Yesterday while my son and I were out we went to a couple of the local market gardens and among other things picked up 2 cabbages!!  This afternoon I made cabbage rolls and while they were slowly baking my son and I went for a walk in the River Valley.  Specifically back to the area where I fell off my bike three weeks ago because I did not get to explore there properly last time.

It was a beautiful day and I probably should have taken along all of my puffers because a lot of leaves have fallen.....😷🍁🍂🍁

Cabbage Rolls for dinner with poached salmon and a green salad was perfect:

The other casserole dish has already ventured to the freezer.

Now to figure out what to do with the other cabbage this week....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Starting Over......

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew"....here's the news......I am stating over......on my quilting project 🤣.

Originally I had picked out a pattern and fabric to make the Anne of Green Gables Christmas fabric quilt.  I made three blocks of this pattern, but just was not feeling it.

"Sew" today I have restarted this quilt.  I am going to use the same pattern as the first Anne Quilt I made last spring, and use the colours I have:

TAH DAH!!!!

This at least looks more like a quilt I would make.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Wait for Meeeeeeeeeeee

Good Evening Internet Friends!

This is week 38 of the Flock of Geese Block.  As of late this evening I have managed to complete 28/38 of these blocks.  That is almost 74% completion rate and that for me is kind of an accomplishment ✅.

Am hoping to get some sewing done this weekend but of course I get distracted easily "sew" we shall see.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Strawberries!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew"  I found some fabric this week that I just HAD to have ☺

I LOVE strawberries, "sew" I decided to make one of my Market Totes from the fabric:

TAH DAH!!!!

Now, if there were only some farmers' markets left to take this too.  Guess I will be styling next year and for now will use it at the grocery stores.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Seeing Stars...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It is Sunday today and that means it is time to make the Star Block of the week:

Took me a while to make this block as still having difficulty sewing and using my right hand.  Back to work tomorrow so let's hope it holds up...

This afternoon I also made some banana, coconut, blueberry, strawberry bread.  I started with a recipe that did not seem to have enough liquid to it and so added more buttermilk and more fruit to make the consistency that I wanted.  The bread turned out delicious although it is highly unlikely I will ever be able to replicate this:

"Sew" "Purr"fect...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Today I attended the Fort Saskatchewan Quilt Show.

There were "sew" many beautiful quilts to see.  I highly recommend this outing to everyone.

Of course there was a Vendor's Market and by end of day I decided that I really needed to add to my stash so here are a couple of items I picked up:

TAH DAH!

Cat Selfie fabric already sewn into a Zippered Pouch and a skin or Tuxedo cat wool ☺

Out to Lunch...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Still not doing much of anything crafty.  Hand still hurts when I do too much of anything,

Went for lunch with one of my friends and her 3 month old baby.  I had missed their baby shower due to being on vacation in Quebec.

Spent close to the last week trying to make a receiving blanket and literally just before leaving for lunch I finished it 😼:

Flannel both sides!!!

The other present that I also give a baby is a book, or in this case a set of books that I wrapped in the blanket:

Hope they love it 😼

And on the 9th Day......It Rained.....

Good Morning Internet Friends.

I am posting this morning because I have actually accomplished something BLOG worthy before lunch today.

I finished knitting my Hudson Memories colourway socks late yesterday.

This morning I got up early and grafted the toe closed because I wanted to wear them today.  The temperature outside is 8 degrees and raining.  Yuck!

TAH DAH!!!  They really do feel nice and warm and cozy today.

Now, the real reason I got up early was because I wanted to make Whole Wheat Flax Seed Pumpkin Pancakes for my son for breakfast today:

Served with cinnamon whipped cream and maple syrup they were extra delicious.  🥞

Hope this inspires your own creativity and keep warm today....

Day 8....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Took the splint and pressure bandage off for a little longer today.  Fingers and wrist still get sore quickly when I do more than I should.

I did sew a pillowcase today because that was just plain sewing and not tiny pieces.  I had this fabric and I knew that a not so little boy would think it was fun:

TAH DAH!!!  A camping/scouting pillowcase ⛺.

Day 7...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Took the splint and pressure bandage off again for a bit today and tried to make a fist.  Still not happening but at least I think the swelling is going down.

After dinner and walking the dog I decided to spend some time in my craft room.  Here is what I managed to get done with pre cut squares from my (stash fabric not cookie): 🍪

TAH DAH!!!  Another Flock of Geese Block.  I really love this block.

This is week 37 and as of tonight I have completed 27 😕.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 6....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Happy to tell you that I have a little more range of motion in my fingers and wrist today.  Of course once I found out I could get some movement all caution I have developed with regards to my hand over the past few days disappeared and I very quickly felt pain that lasted most of the day.....😢

My son and I took the dog for a walk this afternoon because the weather was beautiful.  Fall is in the air of course so I had to take my puffers along with me.  🐕🚸🍁🍂🍃🌞

Attempted to do a bit of knitting with a 3.5 mm knitting needle today (much bigger than the 2.25 I usually use).  Did not get very far:

It is a very fine but fun yarn to work with because of the gold "bling" pieces to it.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 5......

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Another uneventful and kind of long day as there are things I would like to do but my hand just will not cooperate with me.  It is getting better, the swelling is decreasing and I have some movement to my 4th and 5th digits.  I am also getting better at protecting the area and not reaching for and grabbing objects with my right hand.  😃

I found a Flock of Geese Block on my desk that I actually finished last week before my injury "sew" I took a picture of it and will post it today....better late than never I guess....

TAH DAH.

Might try knitting with larger and straight knitting needles tomorrow and see how that works.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 4.......

Good Evening Internet Friends 😸

Attended the Creativfestival today.  Got my hand bumped a lot so was not really feeling especially creative.  Got a meter of sheep cotton and a couple of buttons as nothing else sparked my interest.

Had a nap before dinner and that is the extent of my day.

After dinner again attempted to do a bit of quilting as today is time for the second scrap star block:

TAH DAH....

I had all of the pieces cut so assembly was not too hard but getting the perfect 1/4" seam started with only one hand and a pokey finger from the pressure bandage proved challenging and now my hand hurts.  "Sew" that will be all for today. 😕

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 3....

Good Looooong Evening Internet Friends!

Nothing exciting at all today.

Stopped by a quilt shop this morning after dropping my son off at school.  Then had a nap, lunch and read a book my colleague brought over for me and watched a wee bit of tele.

After dinner this evening I thought I would try and see if I could do some quilting with my paw.....

TAH DAH.

With a lot of Ouch and Ewwweee I managed to sew (not well mind you) six pre cut strips on to a fussy cut block.

I give up for today.  Maybe tomorrow my hand will be all healed....😿

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 2 Drags Onnnnnnnnnnn.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Day 2 of the hand looking like a giant paw is almost over.

After getting my son to school I needed more pain medication and that of course meant a nap.

When I woke up I felt good and wanted to take on the world but with a paw that is kind of hard to do.

So, I wood oiled my barn ladder and then put the quilts back on it 😼

After dinner, walking the dog and getting my son off to bed I attempted to do some crafting.  Other than some stamping nothing else worked.  "Sew" I made Thank You cards"

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Back 2 School

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It seems that summer is officially over as today was back to school for my son.  I cannot believe that my little teeny tiny preemie is going in to Grade 8 🏫🎒

Up early to get the new school routine in .  Pancakes, poached egg and strawberry/raspberry/blueberry smoothies.  My son thought he hit the jack pot 🥞.  Lunch was packed and contained Sugar Cookies that we made yesterday:

I found the ABC/123 sprinkles in the cupboard and decided they were a perfect addition to the cookies.

After dropping off my son at school I went to see my physician.  Three days post injury, ice, pain medications and my hand still really hurts.  Good news:  no fractures in my hand.  Still have sturdy bones.  🥛  Bad news:  I have a "VERY bad" sprain of my pinky finger and wrist.  As such I am now wearing a slab, fingers are buddy taped and all wrapped up in pressure bandage.  Worse yet news: I cannot go to work because my hand is all wrapped up and poses risk for hand hygiene/infection control.  This also means that I need to find things to do a home with minimal hand use.  😿

Being at home with absolutely nothing to do I have discovered is ridiculously boring!!!!   I decided that I could make a couple of birthday cards this afternoon so that is what I did:

Took a long time to do this and hand hurt afterwards.  Drat.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

??? Bedtime????

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Well things in my house are back to normal I guess.  I am writing my blog post in a completely quiet house.  My son is in bed and asleep, the dogs are both on pillows at the foot of the bed and fast asleep.  Not quite sure what to do with myself.  It's like the circus just left town with no wrap up....

Tomorrow morning should prove interesting as none of them wake before 1000 hours of late 🤣

Today we got school supplies, back packs and lunch bags and containers all ready to go.

For lunch I made Oven Baked Pickles (much easier than the clean up with the deep fryer).

In case you are wondering how I made these.....well....no recipe so here goes:

I used a jar of my homemade dill pickles and cut into 1/4" slices

Dipped the pickle slices in flour

Dipped the floured pickle slices in a beaten egg

Dipped the floured, and egged pickle slices in crumbs (I used about a handful of flaked rice cereal, croutons), a heaping tablespoon of ground flax seed for good measure, a heaping tablespoon of the dill I dried a few weeks ago.

Placed on SILPAT and placed in the oven at 425 for about 20 minutes.

I made some ranch dip while these were baking and it was a fabulous day before school lunch 🍲

My hand was feeling a little better today so very slowly I cast off the knitted insert for the Knitting Mugs with Biscotte Yarns:

All I can say is J'adore!  These really and truly are my favourite sock yarns and I super excited that River City Yarns has them in stock 😼

Nothing to See.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not much of any accomplishments today.  Managed to graft the 16 toe stitches of my #KindnessKAL sock that is part of my Knit Canadian with Canadian challenge:

Other than this everything else hurt so I did nothing.  Napped a bit this afternoon, and even did something I hardly ever do.....watch television.  Now I remember why I do not watch tele😼

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

HELP!!! I've Fallen....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

This post will be short as both of my wrists are extremely sore.

Today I decided to try out a different set of riding trails in the River Valley with my son.  The ride was beautiful and it was an area of the city that I had never experienced.  I will go again as we did not get very far into it.  On a corner with some rough terrain I lost control of my bike and took a spill 🚴.  Thankfully I was wearing my helmet and yes I will need a new one as part of my face and the helmet visor contacted the pavement.

I did make another Knitting Project bag before we went out.

TAH DAH!!!

This might be the extent of my crafting for a bit.  I am in too much pain in my wrists, ribs, shoulders and knee to even knit tonight.  I am dreading the pain tomorrow when I wake up. 😟

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Starring!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Made Strawberry French Toast for breakfast with Beef Bacon from Real Deal Meats.

After breakfast I decided to be independently creative and "Sew" I made my first of these blocks and it turned out FANTASTIC!!!

A bit of knitting and watched a movie with my son this evening.  Now it's time to head to bed as summer vacation is drawing to a close.  😢  Must make the most of the next couple days.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
