Knit One.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Have been spending a little more time of late catching up on some of my started but never completed projects.

One of these projects is the Starting Point Wrap that was a mystery Knit Along last spring.  As of this evening I can actually show that I have finished Step 3 on the second half:

Really hoping that I can get this done in the one year time frame.....everyone else did it in 5 weeks.....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Flying Along......

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" yes I am finally flying....figuratively not literally.

Today among other things I made a total of 4 sets of the paper pieced flying geese for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt:

I am SERIOUSLY loving these paper pieced blocks.  The points are perfect!!!!  I don't know if I can go back to making them the regular way after this....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Clean Up...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I have been on a huge clean up of my house intermittently for the past year or so.  I really have NO idea how so much junk has managed to find its way in here and I am not longer disputing the idea that maybe some of it reproduced.....there may be second or third generation junk in here. It is not that my house is mess, there is just MORE stuff than what I would like.

Dinner this evening was also in keeping with the theme of clean up.  You know the vegetables that look a little sad at the bottom of the fridge a week later (okay, I know.... no one else has these) well I chopped all of the peppers, broccoli and onions up with some chicken breast, tossed with some salt and black pepper and some of the Garlic Olive Oil I picked up yesterday and along with potatoes put it in the oven to bake:

Turned out great considering it was the sad looking vegetables:

After dinner I went down to my craft room with the intent of organizing and sorting some more but then decided that I should start on the next section of my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt.

After scratching my head for a bit and a few failed starts I think I finally got how the flying geese paper pieced borders are supposed to go together.....follow the instructions on the paper like the other blocks:

"Sew" there I am!!   Tomorrow I will try and get a few more done as I will need 22 of these sections in total to surround the quilt.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

GO Day

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

Today was finally a GO Day for us.  We were up early (okay 0900 hours) but it is Spring Break Week.  Household chores and lunch and then off to the mall to shop for a teenage boy who has out grown all his clothes.  Getting a teenager (even mine) to the store is a feat and finding clothes is another.

As of now I can report that a new pair of Nike sneakers was obtained along with 12 pairs of Nike socks (buy one pack get second pack 50% - could not leave that behind).  Then it was on the Hudson's Bay where thankfully Levi's jeans were on sale and there was a good selection of tops that my son would actually wear.

Next it was on to Evoolution to pick up some flavoured olive oils.  I am all out.  I also wanted to pick up a bottle for a friend as I ran short on Steam a Seam so she cut me a meter from her box!  I was very grateful and since she likes to cook (and makes wonderful soups) I thought this would be a nice treat and something she would not have:

I got a bottle of Garlic infused Olive Oil for her (everyone loves garlic) and also picked up the staple flavours for our house - dill, and butter along with truffle salt that tastes fabulous on popcorn and well just about anything.

This evening after dinner and with my meter of Steam a Seam I set about finishing my Seawell the Turtle:

Placed on his background ocean (or swamp as my son calls it - too much algae):

A close up of the eye:

I did a Google check on Turtle Eyes and was "creeped out" by what I saw so I gave up and decided to use my bubble batik fabric to make the eye.  He looks like a sleepy turtle and I am okay with that!

Tomorrow I will fuse Turtle together permanently and then start to work on the background!  I have BIG plans for this turtle.  🐒🏑

Ho Hum...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Somehow I am not really accomplishing anything on this Spring Break.  Today was another Ho Hum kind of day.

I did make homemade tomato soup for lunch and now I have 2 quarts in the freezer for lunches another day:

Served with grilled cheese sandwiches it was FABULOUS!  The snow was falling outside again.....so I had an afternoon nap.

After dinner I decided that I actually should be somewhat of an adult and so I made muffins as I might have a friend stopping by tomorrow about morning tea time.  I made banana, coconut, oatmeal, flax seed, ground flax, whole wheat and chocolate chip muffins (I sampled one - they are delicious):

Now to retire with my knitting for a bit and see if I can make some progress on my KAL I started last spring....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Just Keep Swimming....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was another sort of lazy day "sew" not a whole lot of anything accomplished other than I did have my afternoon nap 😸😺

After dinner I played with my collage again and here is what I managed to complete:

Will try to start on the head and finish the "grout" on the shells tomorrow...

"Sew" Much Fun!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It was Collage Class Day today at Purple Katz!!!  A road trip was involved "sew" that made me happy as well.

Here is my progress for today:

Seawell is doing swimmingly in his new ocean 😁.  I found this batik fabric when I picked up my kit at Purple Katz the other day and thought it made the perfect ocean background.

Using batik fabrics has been a huge leap for me because up until recently I had not used batiks.  The reason largely being that I had not used them and when I pointed out a more experienced quilter than I that her points were really off on her blocks she informed me that batik fabrics stretch and if I knew more about quilting I would know this......well...now that I have used batiks for the Wedding Ring Quilt and this collage quilt I am excited to use batiks!!! (and batik fabrics do not stretch......shhhhhh).

I am hoping to get some serious progress made on this quilt this week and then show you what I have planned for him.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Like a Herd of Turtles Across a Summer Fallow Field...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" my Seawell Turtle Collage Class at Purple Katz is tomorrow and here is my progress for today:

I traced a Turtle.....Kitty approves "sew" we are good!  Now to get ready for class tomorrow. πŸš—  I am literally moving on this project like a herd of turtles across a summer fallow field (an expression my family used when as children we were not moving quick enough).  ☺

Cut!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well, after a busy day of I am not sure exactly what other than "Oh, look, I should do that" and then getting distracted I decided to start on my Quilting Class for this weekend.

I have been wanting to make one of the many Collage Quilts by Laura Heine.  On my one of my cross border shopping trips I had the opportunity to stop at her shop and see some of these quilts and immediately wanted to make one.

Fast forward to this weekend when finally all things lined up so that I could attend the Collage Class at Purple Katz Quilting.

I have chosen to make Seawell The Turtle.  This evening I started to cut out the collage pieces but realized I have NO idea what I am doing, so I am going to stop here and wait for class.

TAH DAH!

I think this is going to be "sew" much fun and there is a brilliant idea for this quilt in my head and a plan as to where this quilt will go that I cannot wait (but will have to) share with you.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Big snow storm warning this morning so I decided to road trip to Purple Katz Quilting to pick up some fabrics for an art quilt that I am going to make.

The weather was foggy but that was all and I got ALL of the fabrics I needed and just possibly some more.....

TAH DAH!!!

I might start my project tomorrow seeing as how I am supposed to have some of it prepared for Sunday....

And On the 7th Day.....

Kathy took a break.  😴

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was Day 7 of a run of regular shifts, double shifts, and weekend over time shifts.  Working seven days straight is not as easy as it used to be 20 years ago.

Late last week my Cat Silhouette Quilt Kit arrived from Sew Sisters Quilt Shop.  When I placed my first order the shop was already sold out of it.  I was a bit worried that I would not be able to get this quilt kit so when I was notified it was back in stock I MADE sure my order was placed.

Being so exhausted I did not open the package until this evening.  Here is cat giving approval (I believe) to this future quilt:

Now, to spend a wee bit of time with my knitting and get some sleep.  Tomorrow is the official start of Kathy's Spring Break ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Clucking Along...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not a lot of quilting over the last few days as super busy with life; work, kiddo to school, homework, piano lessons, house work, laundry, garbage and recycling take out, walking the dog....you know....

Today was my one day a week off and it was PACKED.  I stopped at Cobs bakery after dropping my son off at school to pick up some cinnamon bread, scones, sour dough flax bread and of course Cranberry Orange Hot Cross Buns.

Then it was off to Duchesss Bakery to pick up a Banana Cream Pie for Pi Day:

If you are wondering.....Yes, it was DELICIOUS ☺

Then it was off to GO Group.  The Quilt Guild I belong to has a group of quilters all who own GO! Cutters.  They meet to share dies and ideas.

I purchased one of these for myself as a Christmas present and today I was finally able to attend GO Group.  I learned several new things from the ladies who have owned these for a while and am glad I went because this evening I did this:

TAH DAH!!!

I will be adding a border and it will become a table runner.

I am so excited that I finally used my GO! Cutter.  It was FUN.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

"Sew" Excited.....

Good Evening Internet Friends....

Okay,  should probably be asleep, but I REALLY wanted to finish this tonight:

The centre rings of the quilt top are all sewed together and I even top stitched 1/8" all the way around so that there is no stretching between now and when I get the flying geese and applique borders on.

Seriously....."Sew" Excited ☺♫

Half Way...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Class Day at Sew Divine for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt.  I am so happy with this quilt and pattern at this time.  Although it looks so complicated all of the pattern pieces are perfect and they fit together perfectly!  Even the bias border pieces are not stretched or haphazard!

Hopefully I can get this part of the quilt top completed tomorrow.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

"Sew" Close....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" it is less than 12 hours til I have to be in attendance at my Flowers for My Wedding Ring class at Sew Divine and I have managed to complete 48/49 of the blocks needed:

Not sure if I should push myself to get the last block made this evening or just get up early tomorrow morning.

Hmmm.....who I am kidding????  I better go do it now as getting up in the morning early to sew is not how I roll.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Mail Day ☺

Good Evening Internet Friends!

I LOVE getting the mail.  All of my bills arrive electronically so only FUN things arrive in the mail.  That was today.  First off this box made me happy; it is a FUN box and it contains FUN things:

The contents:

YARN!!!  As you likely know by now Biscotte Yarns is one of, if not my favourite yarn.  From left to right I have:

Yarn for a Pair of Socks that have cats in the pattern

The pink middle skein is from the Sock of the Month Club

The right pink skein is the Valentine's Day Yarn Pack along with a moisturizer and a needle keeper.

Next to arrive was my order for some fabric I decided that I must have:

"Sew" Excited to get started on all of these projects.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Yay 40!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

I have never been "sew"excited to reach 40 in anything I think ever.

After dinner, homework, and get ready for tomorrow I managed to spend an hour in my craft room and make:

These 8 beauties.  Now I only have 9 more to go and then to sew all the blocks together for Saturday.....might still be burning the midnight oil for another few evenings...

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Almost 40.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

No.....not my age, that was a few years ago.

I am happy to report that as of this evening I am almost to 40 of the 49 ring blocks that I need for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt:

Earlier today I got all of the arcs cut and the background pieces ready so that this evening between laundry and getting ready for the school/work week I could make a little progress.  If I keep this pace up tomorrow evening I just might have all 40 completed.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

New Rings...

Good Evening Internet Friends.

The culmination of a week of sewing a few seams and cutting a few papers every evening after my son was in bed as resulted in:

Another 8 rings.  As of this evening I can proudly announce that 32 of the 49 rings are completed for my class next weekend.  😻

Earlier in the day my son and I headed out to Sewing with Class to pick up a quilt that had been long armed for me.  I also picked up some backing for my Anne of Green Gables Quilt.  Unfortunately the kit did not account for the binding in the kit, so after a lot of searching I was able to locate some and it is being shipped to me.  Hopefully it will be here later this week and then I can get this off the long arm quilter and have it done!

It decided to snow here last night and tonight and that made for interesting drive....for once I actually drove the speed limit and yet there were cars passing me.  We did see a couple of those vehicles in the ditch a few minutes later.

The snow had slowed by the time we returned home so my son and I cleared the sidewalks on both sides of our street.

Squishy Mail.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Super excited this evening when I got home and found a purple envelope from Purple Katz Quilting in my mailbox!  Squishy Mail that was not yarn.  😸

"Sew" many awesome things about this Squishy Mail:
I placed the order Tuesday evening and got shipping notice that evening

Wednesday I got tracking information to let me know it would be delivered Thursday

It arrived in a beautiful purple envelope

It contained CAT fabric along with some other amazing stuff

The customer service though really impressed me and I am kind of difficult to please.

"Sew" here are my fabulous new treasures:

Along with the Cat Fabric I also ordered the Sea Turtle pattern because it just looked FUN!

I think I just might take a class on how to properly make these one day soon.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
