Happy Easter

I made this little quilted calendar as part of the Monthly Minis Block of the Month that was offered by Sew Divine last year.
I did actually finish it last year, but not until after Easter!!!

Happy Easter Card

I made this happy little Easter card today, and it just makes me happy because it is so fun (I think).
I am also very proud of myself because I managed to only use only Stampin' Up product on the entire card!
I used Pacific Point, Very Vanilla card stock.  The Designer Series Paper is called Sunshine and Sprinkles, and is really pretty!
The stamped images are from the Everybunny stamp set.
To color the images I used my blender pen, and simply took the ink off of the thick end of my markers, that way I was able to blend the colors and not get such bold/harsh colors on the graphics.  The grass was simply sponged on after and the oval cut out was made with the new Oval Framelits.

Easter Basket Bowl

A few weeks ago my son and I went to Crock a Doodle in Spruce Grove.
This is what I made.  A quick trip to Bulk Barn for Easter Jelly Beans, and we have an awesome bowl full of candy!

February Socks!!!

In typical "red eye" tradition I finished my February edition of the Biscotte & Cie sock of the month club very late last night!
The good news here is that I have a new, clean pair of socks ready to go for tomorrow morning!!!
Now, maybe I should start on March......., or sleep......

Easter Egg Cookies

Last night my son and I made these cookies.  The recipe was found on the Kraft Canada website.
On the weekend, I was at Bulk Barn, and found the mini eggs (I had to get them), and so this recipe was the perfect validation/rationalization as to the purchase of the mini eggs!

What's For Dinner

Arriving home last night the first thing asked when we got through the door was "What's For Dinner"?
How should I know, I just got here too!
Well, I was fortunate enough to still have a package of chicken (not bagged, and in the freezer) in the fridge, so I baked it and then topped it with a jar of Carmalized Onion sauce that I picked up at Chartreuse Decor.  Served with mashed potatoes and a green salad, it was quick and delicious.  Dinner on the table in 45 minutes!

The stamped image is from the Year-Round Cheer stamp set.

November Calendar

Now, I know that Thanksgiving is in October here in Canada, but I like this image and the idea of giving thanks, so I am going to rationalize that it is okay to use this image for November.
The card stock is Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze, and Whisper White from Stampin' Up.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Bountiful Harvest collection from Stampin' Up in the fall 2012 mini catalogue.
The image is of course from the Year-Round Cheer stamp set, and the buttons were some left overs, but I thought that they were pretty : )

October Calendar

For the Halloween block I have used Sahara Sand, Basic Black, and Whisper White card stock from Stampin' Up, and the black cat Designer Series Paper is from the Halloween line a couple of years ago (you know I won't throw it out if it's still useable).
The image is from the Year-Round Cheer stamp set.

The Early Espresso Quilted Ribbon is from the Christmas 2011 Holiday Mini Catalogue from Stampin' Up!
The stamped image is again from the Year-Round Cheer stamp set.

The July version of my calendar is again made with Sahara Sand and Pacific Point card stock (Stampin Up), and Dotty for You Designer Series Paper (Close to My Heart).
The flower buttons are from a Stampin Up button collection, and I just thought that they were FUN!
The stamp set used for this image is the Year-Round Cheer set from Close to My Heart.

June Calendar

This is the June view of the calendar.
The base of the card is Sahara Sand topped with Pacific Point card stock (Stampin Up), and a small layer of Dotty for You Designer Series Paper (Close to My Heart).
The brads in the corner are left overs from something.  The stamp set is from the Year-Round Cheer stamp set.
I used my gold marker in an attempt to make the trophy look more sparkly!  Not sure it worked, but I tried.

May Calendar

I got so caught up in other crafting that I forgot to put the rest of my calendar photos up.
This is May.
Used Sahara Sand for the base, topped it with Pacific Point card stock (both Stampin Up.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Dotty for You collection (Close to My Heart).
The flowers are from a big box I got on sale a long time ago at that awful big box store with an "M", and the brad is from ??????? (but it was pretty).
The greeting of course is from the Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month called Year-Round Cheer.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are the cookies that my son and I made for his lunch tomorrow.  Again, the recipe comes from the complete Magnolia Bakery cookbook!  I used butter for the entire recipe, and the cocoa is from Bernard Callebaut.
These cookies are so AWESOME, not sure there will be any left for lunch!

Plenty of Fish Bonus Project...

Last night I finished my bonus project from the Plenty of Fish Mystery Facebook Quilt.  The project is called Lavendar Fields, mine looks more like a Saskatchewan wheat field in late August : ).
I used four fat quarters that I purchased recently at Woodland Quilting.
Now, the great thing about completing other projects while I am working on this mystery project is that I have just generated MORE scraps!!!
Hopefully, I will be able to complete this entire mystery quilt with only scraps (and get a bunch of other projects completed) : )
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Stamp of the Month Club

I went to use this stamp set last night and realized that I had not yet showed it for Stamp of the Month Club!
This is the March Stamp of the Month Club offered by my friend Karina.
Each month we choose a stamp set and then get three cards made with it for ideas of how to use the stamp set.  It's pretty FUN!

Thinking of You Card

I made this card for a colleague of mine who's little granddaughter has had medical complications since birth, and the family is now facing another challenge....
In addition to regular hugs for grandma, I decided to make a card for her that was bright and cheery and let her know I am thinking of her and her family.
I used the Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper from Stampin Up (and the amazing thing here is that I managed to use only SU product, except for the thread and okay some retired product....).
The card base is Melon Mambo, and coordinated with Whisper White.
The greeting is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set and stamped in Gumball Green.
I hope this makes her day a little brighter for a few moments.

Before I left for work this morning I decided this card needed one more item to make it "top drawer"!  So here is the revised version:

Time Change Breakfast

I REALLY HATE time change.
Growing up in Saskatchewan, I had no idea how privileged we were to not have to change time!  Now, as a resident of Alberta I complain about this twice a year.
Since the day is all confused, I made brunch today to account for breakfast and lunch, and still fit dinner in.
We had pancakes and poached eggs!
The pancake recipe is below:

Pancakes:
1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 cup flour

Mix together and fry in your favorite skillet.  I topped these with strawberries, whipped cream and maple syrup.

Mystery Quilt Bonus Project

As some of you know I am participating in the Facebook Plenty of Fish Mystery Quilt.  This is part of the bonus project one can complete when finished their blocks for the first part of the project.
The fabric for these blocks are 4 fat quarters I picked up at Woodland Quilting in Spruce Grove.
I LOVE this shop.  It is full of wonderful reproduction and country type fabrics, all of which I love.  I will actually be participating in a block of the month club offered this spring.

Ceramic Dog

This is a little ceramic dog that my son painted at Color Me Mine in Sherwood Park.
He had fun painting it, and now it has a new home next to the gerbil cage in his room!

Jello Fish Bowls

I found these little fish candies at Bulk Barn yesterday, and I figured I would make my son's lunch a little more exciting today.
We made blue Jello, and then just before it was fully set added the fish candies!
My son thought these were awesome for his lunch box!

Raspberry Cream Cheese Breakfast Buns

I made these delicious little treats last night for lunches.
The recipe is from  the complete Magnolia Bakery Cookbook.  The same as the rest of the recipes in this book - DELICIOUS!
I used my own canned raspberry jam on them!

Hybrid Greeting Card

I made this card for a friend of mine, I know her kitty's name was Tigger, so I assumed he must have been some form of yellow color.
The reason that I call this card a "Hybrid" is because it is a little of all my favorite things (you're humming the tune now, right?).
The card base is Cajun Craze paper from Stampin Up, as are the three colored brads, the Designer Series Paper is from Close To My Heart, called Dotty for You, and the stamp is also a Close To My Heart stamp.  The coloring was all done with my favorite markers:  Copics!

Oh S"crap"! It's Monday...

When I decided to participate in the Facebook Plenty of Fish Mystery Quilt, I really had no idea how many scraps of fabric I had!  Well, since I finished the first step and realized how many bright colored scraps of quilt left overs I had, I decided to make a second one as well!
Might as well use up those scraps!  My intention for both of these quilts is to assemble completely from scraps!
These are my "FUN" colored blocks!

Bowl of Yarn

No, that's not for dinner, but isn't it FUN!
My son and I recently went to Color Me Mine in Sherwood Park, and I painted the bowl.  I could not resist it had a cupcake on it.  SO Fun!
Now, it has been sitting on the table for me to admire for the past couple of days, while my yarn ball rolled past it, and after the 100th time of picking yarn up off the floor I decided to put it in the bowl.
Seems to work, pretty bowl....

Plenty of Fish Mystery Quilt

Since I have so much spare time in my life (just wait, I have to stop laughing), I decided since I had nothing better to do, to participate in the Prairie Quilt Mercantile'sFacebook Mystery Quilt!
I am going to do this quilt entirely with my basket of scraps!
Here is what I have so far....
As I was sewing these together, I got to reflect on where all these different fabrics came from and what I used them for (some are even from my last Prarie Quilt Mercantile Mystery Quilt Event : ))!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sock of the Month - March

If you know me, you know how hard it is for me to keep something in it's wrapper without me knowing what it is.  But, you can be proud of me I did wait til just after midnight to open my Sock of the Month yarn from Biscotte & Cie!
It looks fun, but now, where is my pattern......oh the anticipation!!!
