Friday Feature Card

Good Evening Internet Friends.
It has somehow been a long week, and alas I quite behind on my blogging.
My creativity is at an all time low, and so to participate in Karina's Krafting Crew I broke into one of my Paper Pumpkin sets.  I think this might have been the August shipment, but I honestly don't know.
So, since I did not feel like following directions for the first card today, here is what I made:
I think my crafting ambitions are done for tonight.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Quilting Along...

I am a little behind on my blog posts of late I am afraid.  I worked Urgent Care this weekend, and there were still quite a few people out there with the flu so it was a busy weekend.  I did not get much quilting in.  I did manage over the course of Saturday and Sunday very early in the mornings when I got home to get the last of these blocks for my PQM Cracked Pots Mystery Quilt done:
Here they are placed on top of the border fabric I picked out (a little secret - - I picked out the border fabric first) : )
Now off to see if I can get the inner borders with my blender fabric on before the next clue is released (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA), oh I am funny.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card

I have been enjoying myself lately on Friday evenings playing with some of the fun stamp sets I have collected over the years.
I am participating in Karina's Krafting Crew again this week and here is what I came up with:
The layout of course is courtesy of Mojo Monday 329.  Ironically I do my Monday projects on Friday.  Seems appropriate for me!!!

Happy Birthday to Pop and Hip Puffle!

Hello Internet Friends!!
My son loves to play Club Penguin.  He has even set me up with my own account don't you know!
Well, Pop the Puffle has a birthday today and Hip the Puffle has a Birthday on Saturday and my son wanted to have Birthday Parties for these creatures.
We came up with a compromise; I would make cupcakes for his class tomorrow (all the kids play this game), and he could celebrate his Puffle's Birthday's tomorrow.
Here is what we made:
 Happy Birthday Puffle's!!!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Work In Progress Wednesday

Good Evening Internet Friends!
I decided to participate again this week in The Needle and Thread Networks Work In Progress Wednesday.
Way back several weeks ago (more like months), I decided to participate in the Downton Abbey Mystery Quilt Along because, well, who does not like that show??
It has turned out to be a little bigger task than I had thought it would be and what with all the other on the go projects I currently have on the go, this is as far as I have made it:
TAH DAH!!!  Block four.  Well, so what?  Okay, secret here, this block is more than 24" wide, and no I did not make a mistake. I have also rotary cut all of the pieces for these blocks of which learning to use the die equivalent system for rotary cutting has really challenged my quilting skills.
The good news is after doing this quilt I am no longer upset that the die cut system I ordered at the start of this project from the "Amazing" online company was lost by the "UPStanding" courier service.  I now know how to use the system with my rotary cutter and can use the saved money for something useful like more fabric!!!
The further I get into these blocks the more I like them, and I really want to get the quilt done to see it in it's glory, but alas, I have to work, and do laundry and mundane things like that....
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

What's For Dinner???

I needed a fairly quick vegetable to go with dinner tonight.  Upon inspection of the contents of the refrigerator I stumbled across a whole head of cauliflower. So I decided to make a Cauiflower Casserole:
Turned out well, and everyone enjoyed it, plus there are leftovers for tomorrow!!!

I'm so Far Behind....

Several months ago (like September I think) I started on my own version of the PQM's Cracked Pots Mystery Quilt.  This quilt has been a challenge and it still is!!!  The amount of teeny tiny pieces that have gone into have at times made me believe I was "nuts" to take this on, and worse yet if I were to admit myself to a local "mental" program there probably would have been an arts and crafts component of rehabilitation of which I feared would be completing this quilt!!!!
Okay, while I am very faaaaaaaar behind everyone else, here is what I have managed to make so far:
The blender fabric behind the blocks is not showing up too well, but it has mini gold and black stars on it and I thought it was fun!
Now off to make 28 more of the alternative block to go with this...
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy Snow Day!!!

Seriously, today is/was World Snow Day.  Very appropriate for today and Edmonton although the temperature here today was + 4 Celsius!
We went skiing today:
Big Fun!!
I finished grafting the toe closed on my last sock of this pair yesterday, so I wore them today to skiing, and they were super cozy warm:
I LOVE wool socks, and now that yarns come in so many beautiful colors and are so fun to knit.....
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card

Good Evening Internet Friends!
It's finally Friday!!
Somehow with being off for two days will my son being ill and my not feeling well on top of that, it has seemed like a VERY LOOOOOOONG week : {
Today for Friday Feature card for Karina's Krafting Crew I actually made a card all my own without any inspiration.  I was kind of liberating to just pick a stamp set and make something!!!
Here is what I made:
I would in an ideal world have used bigger gold stars, but I have not found a bigger "Star" punch or die cut from Stampin' Up, so I used the one I had from a Christmas set of a couple years ago!!!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Work in Progress Wednesday

Hello Internet Friends.
I must confess I have not been feeling well this week and my son was quite ill this week as well.  I have not accomplished much in the way of crafting at all this week, in fact tonight was the first time I had picked up my knitting since Sunday, and my quilting has not been worked on since Saturday when I snapped this picture:
This is what I have so far manage to accomplish of my NYD 2014 Path to my Cabin Mystery Quilt!
Remember, I started this on New Year's Day ; )
I have decided again this week to participate in The Needle and Thread Network's Work in Progress Wednesday partly just to motivate me to get moving.  Here's hoping I feel better tomorrow.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Apple Muffins

On the way home from taking my son skiing we detoured around Edmonton on the Henday and stopped in St. Albert at the library.  I LOVE the library there.  I had reserved a few books, but on my way in I found what appears to be the brand new Best of Bridge Cookbooks Volume 3!  I grabbed that and headed for the checkout.
When I got home between loads of laundry I started to peruse through this treasure and discovered a recipe for Apple Cheddar Muffins.
So, I made these for our lunches tomorrow:
I did stop for some groceries on the way home, and when I went to check that all the bags were unpacked I came across an item that must have been a last minute sales item:
Well, I guess it's his bag now, not going to use that for groceries....
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Well, here is what I have so far:
Now, off to see what else I can get into!

Friday Feature Card

Hello Internet Friends!
It's that time of week again where I participate in Karina's Krafting Crew by making my Friday Feature Card.
This week I chose to use the Mojo Monday Sketch 327 for the inspiration for my submission.
Here is what I made:
Now, off to do some late night quilting for the weekend!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

The Journey Continues.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!
I cut the pieces last night for Block 3 of my Downton Abbey Mystery Quilt Along and this evening I was able to finish one of the two blocks I need to make for step 3 of this adventure.
Here it is:
I do love how all my points line up on this, I am quite proud of it!
This weekend hopefully I can catch up on my quilt and also on my episodes of drama this is all based on!!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Work In Progress Wednesday

Hello Internet Friends!!
I decided this week to link up with The Needle and Thread Network and participate in WIP Wednesday.
My project for this event, is almost a little something to be ashamed of; I started these socks on our trip home  from Christmas in the Rockies back in early December.
While we were in Canmore I purchased a book on sock knitting and it had some lovely patterns as well as new techniques for heels in your hand knit socks (if wondering - of course I came home with yarn too).  I tried one of these techniques on the first sock I was knitting.  As I got to the toe, I assessed this sock and decided that I DID NOT LIKE the heel I had just made some 50 rows back.  So, alas, I unwound my sock back the 50 rows knitted, then the heel up to the leg, and did the heel properly (well, maybe just the way I like).
Somewhere in the re-making of the heel I started to lose hope on these socks....
Sadly, this is as far as I have got so far:
Hopefully by this time next week I can be finished with these socks!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Mystery Quilt Along

Good Evening Internet Friends!
I am a little late in posting this evening because I took some time this evening to watch the first couple of episodes of Season One of Downton Abbey.
Watching it and seeing all the rich colors that are a part of my current Downton Abbey Quilt Along motivated me to go and finish my 2 B blocks.
Here they are:
Four little beauties!
Okay off to finish the rest of the series.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Oh S"crap"! It's Monday...

Hello Internet Friends.
Today was that dreaded return to work day.  However, I actually was looking forward to returning to work.  I kind of missed my colleagues and the patient's that I see and did wonder how they were doing over Christmas so it was nice to get back and catch up with everyone today : )
Now, of course the age old question starts!  What's for dinner?
Well there was some left over turkey that I had tossed in a freezer bag in the freezer the other day and two assorted bags of broccoli in the refrigerator, so I made my usual last of the turkey casserole:
- fill bottom of casserole with left over chopped turkey
- top with vegetables, I used broccoli, carrots, onions, and celery
- add 1 1/2 cups rice
- mix together one can of cream soup (mushroom, chicken, I've even used cheddar) with 1 soup can of milk, 1 chicken bouillon cube, 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup mayonaisse
- add salt, pepper, garlic powder, some bbq powder as well and what ever else you have that you want to
- Bake for one hour at 350F covered, then bake for 15 minutes more with cover removed.
We had this along with a green salad.
While this was baking lunch bags were unpacked, homework was completed along with piano practice and now off to play some Wii before bed!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Bread Day

Hello Internet Friends!!
Today is Sunday, and the day before my son and myself return to school and work for a very LOOOOONG rest of the winter.  Seriously, it is - 24C and with the windchill -30, (-11 F but feels like -22F).  The F-350 Super Duty of course got plugged in last night, and is currently outside running like a diesel on a cold morning.  My Toyota of course was NOT plugged in and it remote started just fine this morning (seriously, I LOVE that car).
So, since it is Sunday I baked bread for sandwiches this week.
Since everyone loves my homemade multi-grain bread so much, over the holidays I baked several loaves of it.  I had found prior to Christmas at Superstore these really cute baking pans and so was able to gift away bread that looked like:
THIS!!!  I have picked up some more of these pans (they were in the after Christmas mark down) for next years gift giving!
Now off to finish some quilting, maybe some knitting, laundry, grocery shopping, and baking for lunches for the week!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day Three

But it's the fourth today, you will not doubt tell me.  Well, yes, it is, but this is my third step in the NYD 2014 Path to My Cabin Mystery Quilt.
Why is this taking me so long?  Well a few reasons, still very sore from immunizations in both arms yesterday, and also a battle of the wits with myself.  I am really trying to use up fabric I already own, rather than buying new and additional fabric.  So, when I got to this part of the project, I had run out of white (predominantly) fat quarters.  Really just wanted to go buy another fat quarter.  Didn't though.  Raided the left overs and manged to get another two squares, still needed six more.  Finally decided to "bite the bullet" and open up the fabric hoarding cupboard and take out the 4 meters (4.4 yards) of white print fabric I had in there and make the last six squares!!!  The fabric has been waiting for a project for almost 2 years as I bought it at the Longest Day of the Year Quilt Sale at Lori's Country Cottage in June 2012 at 2300 hours so I could get my purchases for 50% off!!
Here is what I have so far:
Now to try and finish them this weekend maybe, however, arms very sore right now and Tylenol only lasts for four hours of which two is needed for sleeping.
Off to nap again!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card

Okay, it's that time of week again, however, I had to have a little nap before I could do this project this evening.
As you may have heard there is this nasty little thing called H1N1 floating around out there.  I had not yet for some reason managed to get myself into my local health unit this year to get my flu shot and was feeling pretty good about the fact that I had not got sick when all of a sudden there are all these ill people out there.  I still hesitated about getting it a little longer, then realized my son is going back to school next week and one of the things that frustrates me about parents today is that there are a lot of children out there who are not vaccinated for anything!  The consensus seems to be: why should they expose their children to the "risks" of vaccines when these diseases are almost gone!!!
Anyways, we went to one of our local public health units today and got immunized!  OUCH!!!!
After all this "fun" my son and I went to the Terwillegar Rec Center for swimming.  It was FUN!
Now for my Friday Feature Card for Krafting Crew, I decided to make a Birthday Card for my Grandmother's 87 Birthday next week.  I used Mojo Monday Sketch 326 for this card and once again have managed to use only Stampin' Up product:
I think that my Grandmother will LOVE this card.  It is bright colored, has flowers and more flowers on it!
Happy Early Birthday Grandma (don't worry - she will not see it, she does not know what a blog or facebook even are)  ; )
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day Two

Alright, so I sort of got distracted yesterday with my NYD 2014 Path to My Cabin Mystery Quilt, so I ventured on a little more today.  Not feeling well though, so had to have a nap this afternoon.
Here is what I did manage to get done:
Now off to eat some soup and go to bed early tonight, and hopefully I feel better tomorrow.
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone has had a Good New Year so far ; )
I don't have any real big plans for this year, so I did not spend time today making any resolutions or plans.
I did however decide to spend part of today doing one of my favorite things; QUILTING!!
One of my facebook friends planned on participating in the NYD 2014 Path to My Cabin Mystery Quilt, and I figured this would be an excellent way to start the new year.
My blog friend Jane had picked her word for 2014 as being "less" so in keeping with that theme (a really good one), I decided to raid my fabric cupboard this morning to see what I could use to participate in this mystery quilt.
Here is what I have so far:
The intent is to have this quilt done by end of day today, but since I did not start until 1200 MST today, I doubt that will happen...
Hope this inspires your own creativity...
