Day 4 Summer Vacation

It was raining when we woke up this morning so we decided we would road trip to Spokane, Washington since that state recognizes our sales tax free status.  We took a really scenic goat path highway to connect to the interstate.  The drive was really beautiful so I did not do a lot of knitting.
I did get some awesome shopping done though, none craft related if you can believe!

Day 3 Summer Vacation

Today was a rainy day here at the campground,  so we decided to head into Missoula and do some shopping.  A very good day of shopping I might say: )
On the drive I watched the scenery and did some knitting:
And on the drive back we saw these guys having dinner at their local road side diner : 0

Day 2 Summer Vacation

Today we finished our driving portion of the trip and arrived in Thompson Falls, Montana.  On the way I knitted my brother's Edmonton Oiler's inspired yarn socks:
I picked this yarn up recently at River City Yarns as the color way was specially made to represent the Edmonton Oiler's colors.  Growing up in central Saskatchewan in the Oiler's Glory Days we of course all became fans.  As such, when this yarn was first announced I knew that I had to make my brother a pair of socks from this yarn.  Now, just to make sure these fit his feet properly as I have had to adapt my sock pattern as it fits my feet properly, not three sizes larger!!!!
The camper trailer is all set up and now it is time to relax with a camp fire and maybe do some more knitting before dark ☺
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Day 1 Summer Vacation

Bright and early this morning, we'll not that early, we started out on our Summer Vacation camping trip to Montana.   Not a lot of crafting today as I had to take the car as far as Calgary.  It will get some maintenance done on it while we are away.  I did however get a picture of the reason I quilt apparently:
My son had cleaned up his room in preparation for leaving and apparently the cat approved of the quilt pile on the bed!
This will also sadly be the last trip that we take with the Mallard trailer.  My husband has decided that we need to upgrade to a larger trailer and so last weekend he upgraded to a 32/37.5' fifth wheel trailer.  He did not have time to get the fifth wheel hitch on to take it on this trip.  One last look at the Mallard : (
Now off to Montana.

On the Eve of Summer Vacation

Good Evening Internet Friends!!
I am still here, however, have worked two double shifts this week and am super tired right now, but it is the eve of Summer Vacation, so I am very excited!
Made my Thursday trip to Drayton Valley until for sure fall, not certain if the funding grant will continue for me to go there.  I certainly hope that it does, because I love the work I get to do there,  I love the drive as it is a great way to relax and reflect, and the people and community.
The drive was beautiful, apparently there were lots of bugs out for my window today ; )

On the crafting front I did manage to get Block 6 A of the second version of the Mi Vida Loca quilt done and that will be it for a while:
I am so far behind right now it will likely take me a while to get caught up.  Maybe summer vacation will help?  No, not likely.
Now, off to get ready for the start of my summer vacation adventures (sort of feel like Phineas and Ferb, speaking of which I should probably go watch some of that.....)
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Soap Time

Realized this morning that I was nearly out of soap.  Since I had the time today I decided that today was as good as any to make a batch before we head out on vacation.
Only problem, I only had enough soap base left to make one bar of soap!
So, here is my one lonely bar of what I am calling Creamsicle soap, because that is what it smells like, orange and vanilla:
The left overs in the pot smelled yummy as I washed out the pot, so I think I will enjoy my one bar of soap.  Will have to make more when I get back from vacation ; )

A Finished Quilt

So very proud of myself!  I actually had yesterday off of work!  Not only that, I got lot's (except for my blog post) done.  One of the things I completed was the binding on a quilt for my son:
This is a quilt kit/pattern I picked up last summer at Prairie Points Quilt Shop.  I did finish the quilt top a while back, and just used my walking foot to quickly quilt it, but as usual the binding took forever!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Cookie Time!

Yesterday evening since I was actually home (not working more overtime in the Emergency Department), my son and I made COOKIES!
The recipe is from my most favorite current cookbook; Butter.
The cookies are delicious of course:
Might have to go for a bike ride tomorrow to burn off the calories from these little delights (I won't share with you how many of them I actually ate) ; )
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Work In Progress Wednesday

Good Evening Internet Friends!
It has been a long time since I have been home on a Wednesday and able to participate in Work In Progress Wednesday over at The Needle and Thread Network.
This evening I was able to finish Step 6 C of the Mi Vida Loca Facebook Mystery Quilt I am currently working on. The plan is that this quilt will be finished in time for my friend Brandy's wedding.
Here is Step 6 C:
To give you an idea as to the size of this project, the center 4 patch blocks are 2 1/2" square!
Now, off to see what else I can get into when I actually have a free evening ☺

Part 6 B Brandy's Quilt

Somewhere this week Step 8 of the Mi Vida Loca Mystery Quilt was published.  I have fallen quite behind on this project partly because of my work schedule, but also because I have taken slight indignation that this project is not truly a "mystery" for all those participating.  Thankfully, I have to get this quilt done for Brandy's Wedding, so I must put my umbrage aside, and carry on.
I did get around to getting Step 6 B done this evening:
Have agreed to pick up more overtime shifts this week, so Step 6 C might have to wait for next weekend!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card!

Hello Internet Friends!!!
Another work week has passed along with more double and overtime shifts, hence no time to craft, but I did make a whole lot of people's lives better, so that's okay : )
This evening I sat down to take a quick craft break and since I still had not finished the last of this particular Paper Pumpkin kit, I decided I could finish it this evening, and then actually be proud I finished something!!!  WAHOO me!
Maybe I should give myself this card ; )
Now, off to make birthday favors for my son's Birthday Party for his school friend's tomorrow!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Part 6 A of Brandy's Quilt

Did not do much quilting or crafting this weekend.
We went out to the acreage yesterday to see how things were coming along.  I fully intended to knit on the way but after the week of work I had last week, I ended up sleeping most of the fifty five minute drive.  I did wake and take some pictures when we turned off Highway 21:

It was so beautiful!
Not quite as wide open as I like, but at least there is farm land and tractors!
On the way back we stopped in Camrose for ice cream and the view along the creek was so pretty I had to take another picture:
I did of course stop at the quilt store there and I will take a picture and show you the "finds" I got.
After dinner I sat down and managed to get Step 6 A of the Mi Vida Loca quilt I am making for my friend Brandy.
Maybe tomorrow, I can get Step 6 B and C done ; )
Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Friday Feature Card

Good Evening Internet Friends.  Thank goodness it is Friday!  I truly mean that.  In the past six days I have worked all of them, including twelve additional hours of overtime!!!  I am SOOOO+ tired.
My Friday Feature Card for Karina's Krafting Crew is:
It is another Kathy version of a Paper Pumpkin kit from a few months ago : )
Hope this inspires your own creativity...(now off to nap)!

Time To Play!!!

I actually had some time to craft tonight.  Worked an extra (overtime) shift on Sunday, and then worked a double shift yesterday.  Sure was tired by the end of today.
Did not do a lot this evening, but did manage to get the bottom and sides sewn onto my Professional Tote:
I love the fun colors of the zipper I chose for the front pocket!
Here is the side pocket with the beads I chose for the pull strap!
"Sew" fun I think!
Hope this inspires your own creativity...
