"Sew" At Home

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today I decided I would have Sew At Home Day.  I would get more accomplished not only sewing wise, and the food and atmosphere is much more lively I think.

For breakfast I made french toast topped with strawberries and cantaloupe and turkey rashers:

YUM!

Then I loaded in some laundry and headed off to my craft room where I made:

One more star and I will have a row!!!

For lunch we had a vegetarian pizza that kiddo and I assembled:

YUM.

After lunch I baked some Chocolate Chunk Cookies and when my dear friend came over this afternoon with some dinner she had cooked for kiddo and I (another reason home was a better Sew Day experience) we had milk and cookies along with the BEST Visit EVER!!

Back to work tomorrow and hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST DAY EVER Monday🎉

Let it Be "Sew"

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well I packed up and went to "Sew" Day.

Hmmmmm.....not sure what to say about it....

I packed up my sewing machine and a couple of projects and headed out full of excitement.  Not sure what I was expecting as I have never been to one of these days.  Well I got there.  My friend was there so at least I knew one person.  There was a bit of chatter between a couple of people and not much else.  I am not sure what I expected for the food but turns out people just brought random things.  One lady did bring a chili, but mostly it was just random stuff in a box.  I was disappointed and yet not sure what I was expecting except this was definitely NOT what I was expecting.

I did make the patch blocks for the class I had signed up for through the guild.  I had been really excited about this class as it looked like a quilt I would make and it was on a day I could attend.  The class however was postponed and moved to a date I likely cannot attend.  I was told that if I did not attend the new date class I would have to wait to purchase the pattern.  BUT I have all the pieces cut out!!!

Not wanting this to become another expensive UFO I decided to put the quilt together using the picture!  Not gonna lie.....it took a while to get the star blocks figured out as to where to begin the sewing, but now that I figured that out......"SEW" Easy:

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing everyone
BEST Day EVER Sunday🎉

Let There Be Cake!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Busy day off today.  Took the car in to Sherwood Park Toyota for the detailing special that they have on til the end of the month!!  Car is SOOOOOOOO clean now and all the random smells seem to have disappeared😼🚙

Went to my dental appointment and lived to tell about it.  Always a good thing because I am TERRIFIED of the dentist.

For dinner this evening I made Spaghetti Squash Chicken Parmesan:
LOVE this meal.

I am going to be attending a Sew Day/Retreat tomorrow.  Have not been to one of these before "sew" hoping it is a great day.  They do ask for potluck contributions "Sew" I decided to make something that would be a KATHY contribution:
A Star Block Chocolate Zucchini Cake!  It was DELICIOUS!

I also made a veggie salad as was not sure what the menu service for lunch would be like:

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Saturday 🎉

Fakin' It...

Good Afternoon Internet Friends!

Posting a little earlier than usual as tonight is Quilt Guild Meeting.  Not sure yet if I am going or not as stupid tired for lack of a better word.

Just in case I do go I decided I should do SOMETHING today as so far I have done a whole lot of NOTHING!

I decided to get started on my Twist Star Quilt.  I had signed up for this class but the instructor moved the class to a date I probably will not be able to attend.  All I have for instructions is the picture and the 2 pages of cutting instructions.  If I want the pattern I will have to buy it despite having paid for the class.

I started with the 12 easy blocks.  Here are 4:

Hopefully this does not become another UFO....

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST DAY EVER Tuesday for tomorrow🎉

"Sew" Tired...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Helped out today at the Barnebirkie today for Birkie Sunday.  Was really COLD this morning, but the weather did warm up and it was a FABULOUS day.

This evening after dinner I made Block 30 of my Red and White 2018 52 Week Block Challenge hosted by a A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt shop:

TAH DAH!

Then I attached this block to the current row I am working on and attached this row to the rest:

Getting closer to the finish......

And Then...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

We spent the day at home but that does not mean that I took it easy.  House cleaning, some sorting, laundry is all done and I spent a fair bit of time in my kitchen:

I made granola bars for the lunch boxes this upcoming week.

I also made 2 dozen poppy seed buns.  These are one of my favourite foods.

For dinner we had crispy chicken, maple syrup sweet potato mash and steamed broccoli.  Delicious and there are left overs for tomorrow ☺

After doggie walk I spent a bit of time in my craft room and made Block 29 of the Red and White 2018 52 Week Block Challenge hosted by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop.

Still using up scraps for these blocks, and since I finished the nursing tote bag yesterday there are MORE red and white scraps ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Sunday.

THE Weekend!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

For some reason I am super excited about this weekend.  It is a long weekend and I am really hoping to get caught up on some rest as I am super tired right now.😴

Arriving home my son and I decided to bake cookies.  Not gonna lie....these were eaten before, and after dinner:
SOOOOOO Yum.

After loading the dishwasher, tidying up the kitchen and walking the dog I took a bit of time to myself in my craft room.  I am currently on a self appointed mission to try and finish things up rather than starting something new.  This tote bag has been sitting in various stages of completion on my craft desk for a bit now.  "Sew" this evening I decided that I would finish it tonight:
TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing everyone
BEST Day EVER Saturday.  🎉

Over? Already???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

WOW!!!  I cannot believe that weekend is OVER already!  I had "SEW" many BIG plans for this weekend.  Alas.....minimal accomplishments on that front.

This morning in addition to laundry, dog walk, and house cleaning I did meal prep - dinner and lunches for the week.  As part of this preparation I made Poppy Seed Cake with cream cheese frosting; one of my favourite comfort foods:

Not gonna fib.....but between kiddo and I this is almost GONE!

After lunch we headed out to The Bay as kiddo needed some new jeans.  All looked like supreme flood pants.  I also picked up a new pair of every day boots for myself as my current work shoes need to retire.

Arriving home I finished up dinner.  Roast beef with fresh mushrooms, onions, mustard and sour cream spent the day in the slow cooker.  I have found that the No Frills not too far away from here has an amazing selection of fresh veggies.  I still do most of my grocery shopping at Costco but this place has a unique medley or things I cannot get at Costco or simply do not need the size of.  In the refrigerator I had red onions, garlic, broccoli, green beans, carrots, parsley and zucchini that I chopped up and roasted along with a small bag of baby potatoes.  Dinner was DELICIOUS!!  Plus......we have left overs now:

Served with a head lettuce salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, radish, green pepper, green onion, and celery dinner was complete.

After more laundry, kitchen tidy and dog walk I did spend a bit of time in my craft room.

With the exception of the 4 corner blocks my 52 Week Star Block Challenge from 2016 hosted by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop is complete:

TAH DAH!!!!

Will stop at Sew Divine tomorrow on my way home and hopefully get some border and binding fabric for this "sew" I can get if off to be long armed.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Monday.

In the Kitchen...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

A very long and busy but very productive day at work.  Arriving home I was tired but needed to get dinner ready and not just dinner for this evening but something that will last a for left overs for tomorrow's dinner.

Last week I purchased the MOST amazing eggplant.  This evening I decided that I would make a Ratatouille for dinner using vegetables from the fridge and my home made tomato sauce:

SO YUM!!!!

I paired this side dish along with a ground beef, onions, garlic, red pepper, green pepper, celery, mushroom, and sweet potatoe skillet simmered with the remaining home made tomato sauce:

So good that kiddo ate extra helpings.

Now that I had left overs taken care of for tomorrow evening I set about getting organized for lunches for two more days of school and work.  Banana bread was my solution to round out the lunch boxes:

There just might be extra chocolate chips in it too!

While the banana bread was making I made Block 6 of the Jewel Box Block Challenge that A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop is hosting.  "Sew" far this year I am still on track.  Meet Block 6:

And here are all 6 together:

Now to see what else I can get in to before heading to bed.

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Day EVER Thursday tomorrow.

Where???

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Let me tell you first off that I had BIG plans for this weekend.  I was going to get ALL kinds of stuff done.  As of right now I am not really sure where my weekend went and other than bake a batch of sugar cookies that (may) have all been eaten and take a well deserved nap on Saturday afternoon I DID nothing.  Okay, I did manage to stay warm and with the current temperatures that we have that still seem to think they can go lower that is an accomplishment.

This evening while I baked a cake for a colleagues birthday tomorrow I did manage to make Block 26 of the 2018 Block a Week Challenge Hosted by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop:

Block 26!

Now meet Block 26 and Friends:

TAH DAH!!!

Hope this inspires your own creativity and wishing you all the
BEST Tuesday EVER!!
