Flock of Geese..

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Even though it was a beautiful day out today the wind was a bit crisp, the seats on the park swings were cool this evening, there are yellow leaves in my front lawn and in the River Valley this evening there were geese on the move.

Perfect for my creative time this evening!  When we got home I made another of my Flock of Geese Blocks which is the challenge block this year from A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop:

I am still a few weeks behind but maybe just maybe I can get caught up over the weekend ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Going Banana's...

Good Very Late Evening Internet Friends.  Not sure if I will get this post done before morning...😪

It's that time of year.....the week before school starts.

Today was a whole lot of errands and not a lot of crafting.  It was however a great day.  On top of that my friend and I started talking about Banana Bread and I realized that it has been a very long time since there has been any of that in my house.

Only one way to fix that.  Start baking banana bread at 2230 hours when I work tomorrow morning.  I should confess though that I also had a load of laundry that had to be done so that I had clean capris for tomorrow....

Fresh from the oven and yes I am eating some right now as I write this post 🍌

While the banana bread was baking and the washing machine was going I took a wee bit of time to do some more knitting on my Hudson's Memories socks.  I just love this colour way:

Something New.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Finally had a bit of time after dinner, walking the dog and laundry to get to my craft room.  Worked an overtime shift and as such was short shifted going into the start of this work week which has kind of made me tired.....

I have about 14 (seriously) various projects on the go in my craft room right now so I decided it was time to start another (something new).

A few weeks back I picked up some of the new Anne of Green Gables Christmas Fabric and a pattern and decided I should start on that this evening:

Fabric is now now all cut and the first block sewn!!!!

Now it's off to watch a movie with kiddo as the summer vacation is winding down ☺

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Kindness Knit Along

Good Evening Internet Friends!

One of the core values of my life is that of kindness.  Every day I practice this in my personal life as well as my professional life as no one truly knows the story of another unless they listen, and even then the full extent of being is still not known.

As you know I love to knit socks and I love sock yarn.  My goal for this year marking Canada's 150th+ Birthday is to knit with Canadian yarns and use Canadian patterns.  A project I am referring to as Knit Canadian with Canadian.  There are so many talented knit wear designers in this country and this is my chance to explore their talent.

One of the designers I often knit is Dana Gervais of #SockStar.  Currently she has a Sock Knit Along going on called Throw Kindness Around Like It's Confetti.  I absolutely love the title (and her designs) so I had to participate in this Knit Along.

I chose a full skein and a mini skein of Amethyst and Light Through the Leaves.  I wanted the feel of Grape Jelly for these socks for some reason.

Here is the first sock almost finished (my new favourite heel is on this sock):

TAH DAH!!!

Now to see if I can get both socks done before the completion of this Knit Along. 🐑

Scraptastic!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Despite being tired this evening I took a bit of time to myself in my craft room.

I managed to accomplish making another of the Flock of Geese Blocks for the 52 Week Challenge by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop.

I have no idea what number of block I am supposed to be on or what block I am on.  I do know I am behind and I am just going to have to accept that for now.  😼

Another block completely made of scraps!  It really is a good feeling for me when I get to build an entire quilt from my scrap stash.

A Bit of a Pickle....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my random day off during the week.  I let my son sleep in today as not that many more sleep in days before school starts.

After lunch we went down to see the Accidental Beach.  This is a beach that has developed as a result of construction for a bridge across the river.  It is beautiful!!!!  The sand is amazing and the rocks that are along the edge of the sand are perfectly smooth and shiny!  I had to pick up a few just to feel.

Arriving home there were still some carrots not use from the 20 lb bag I had purchased the weekend prior so we made carrot pickles.  I used my new blue jars and now it looks like I have greenish carrot pickles 🤣

Oh well, I am sure they will taste fine.

I'm Beet!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

My expression for today was indeed that I am "beet".  My son did not find this particularly funny, but I thought it was hilarious.

Tomorrow is back to work so there was all the tasks to do to get ready for that like laundry, lunch and dinner prep, household chores and since it is Sunday take the dog for an extra long walk.

I made bun dough early this morning so that just before lunch my son and I were able to assemble and bake Beet Leaf Buns.  We ate them for lunch fresh from the oven!

TAH DAH!

One of my favourite summer treats.

The River Valley was lovely today but the wind was a little chill, and there were yellow leaves not only on the trees but on the ground already as well......it's coming.....☃❄❅❆🌨⛄

Sock To It!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Earlier today I would not have been kidding if I had told you that I had four socks of different yarns, and styles on the go at once.

Fast forward to right now and I can tell you that is now three, but do not worry, I will cast on the second sock of the just finished sock tomorrow morning😸

Without further ado, here is my latest creation in probably my all time favourite colour way:

This is my Hudson's Memories sock with my favourite sock knitting wool Biscotte Yarns.

I knit a plain basic sock to show off the self striping of this yarn and did an increase/decrease heel to keep with the striping effect.  I did not use a heel flap as I did not want to disturb the flow of the stripes and since I DETEST wrap and turn socks this was the best option for the heel.

I really do like how these turned out.

Rockin' Socks!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not a lot of crafting done as I was a little occupied with all my Birthday FUN!

Calls and messages from the family early this morning.

My iBFF stopped by with balloons (I LOVE balloons - they make me happy and the large one sings):

This afternoon my son and I went out to try a new pottery painting place.  We did not like the items they had so came home.

I was about to make dinner when my iBFF invited me out for dinner as the family and of course I took that up ☺

Made some of my new tea that came in my monthly knitting box.  It is amazingly yummy and now I am all sleepy feeling.

I did knit a few more rows on my socks:

I am loving how these are turning out.  I am not a fan of wrap and turn heels but the Knit Along I will be starting soon uses this increase and decrease heel type and it is so easy to work and gives me the results that I want!

The South Paw Maverick...

Good Morning Internet Friends!

Seriously, it is morning and I am still up and probably will be for a few hours yet.
A little known fact about me is that contrary to common belief I actually am in my right mind.  I grew up with two south paw influences both of whom were perfectionists. I do scribe with my right hand as I had difficulty committing to a hand as a child and it was decided that the right hand would write cleaner.

I blame my inability to follow directions on this state of right mind.  I am not known for doing what I am told ☺ and that includes my craft projects.  I have a LOT of difficulty following the steps in the order the author has put them out.  A lot of times I sew items after I have assessed how they came to be and then do my own thing.  Same for knitting, I will look at the visual pattern, determine what I NEED to know to create and carry on.  On top of that I also like to be unique ☺

"Sew" last evening while making my most current one for a Knit Along I will be participating in later this week I decided to make it more "Kathy":

I added a sheep button on a leather pull string to make it my own. Plus, the sheep buttons make me happy. ☺

Socks!!! Glorious Socks!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Late yesterday evening I finished a pair of socks so it seemed most appropriate for me to........start another pair this morning.

I picked up this skein of Hudson's Memories while I was in Montreal.  The staff at Biscotte Yarns knew that I would not have time to get to their store but they made arrangements for me to pick up at another store that I would be close to.

In between blanching carrots and laundry here is my progress today:

My favourite colours and my favourite yarn.  Good thing winter is coming so that I can wear these.  ❆

Made In Canada!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was a super busy day again for my son and I.

We got up fairly early for a Saturday morning and headed off to the St Albert Farmers' Market and to pick up a neat item that I will show you another day.

Got lots of yummy goodies and will be doing some baking etc over the next few days ☺

This evening after dinner I spent some time on my sofa........knitting ☺

My Sassenach Socks using my June shipment of the Super Amazing Awesome Fingering Yarn Club that I get are finished:

They are really cozy on my feet right now ☺

I am calling these my Made In Canada socks because I started knitting them while on vacation in Quebec and continued to knit across Canada as I returned home to Alberta.  On top of that the yarn is Canadian as is the sock pattern designer ☺

Surprise!!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!!!

This evening I was able to pick up my second box of the Super Amazing Awesome Fingering Yarn Club.

These boxes are shipped every second month so I was super excited to open it.  Once again the box is fabulous!  I love that the yarn is dyed in Alberta.  This month there is a tea blend that coordinates with the colour dye way and is locally sourced, as is the button included in the box.  I love these little extras and that mainly the box composition is locally sourced.  One of the other yarn collection boxes I used to get had mostly Canadian yarns, but the extras were all made elsewhere 😿.

So without further ado...   SPOILER ALERT:

TAH DAH!!!

Not only is the contents of the box beautiful but this month is entitled Famous Five in celebration of the Alberta Famous Five😀  Knitting and a history lesson in one box!!!  Seriously, that is my cup of tea (and they included that too).

Sun Day Fun Day

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Not a lot of crafting today.  After lunch my son and I headed out on our bikes after getting the tires inflated, chains oiled, brakes and suspension checked, and in my case some how the front tire had comes loose over winter.  😕

It was a very beautiful day out in the River Valley.  We rode over 20 miles including through Strathcona Science Provincial Park.  The natural areas are very pretty but the infrastructure is terrible.  Good thing we check the suspension on the bicycles 🤣:

After dinner this evening I made another of the Knitting Pouches. I was going to make a special one for the yarn I am going to start making a pair of socks with tomorrow in honour of Saskatchewan Day,  but I ran out of the fusible web for another bag so I only have one bag:

Will have to pick up some more tomorrow.

S"crap" Time!!!

Good Evening, Good Morning Internet Friends!

Yes, I am still up.

Lots of errands and appointments today.  Took my son out for lunch to Press'd.  He thought that was a great adventure for a rainy Friday.

This evening I decided to spend a bit of time in my craft room sorting through some of my scraps.  I made another of the Flock of Geese Blocks for the 52 week challenge I am participating in along with A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop:

My Block #22.  Just checked the website and I am supposed to be on Block 31....(ooooooops).

Now that I have moved my craft room back to the original room I homesteaded for it and cleaned, and relocated, and organized I have room on the floor to lay out my blocks.  "Sew" I did that:

TAH DAH!!!

The beauty of these blocks is that this will be my third of these kind of quilts made with entirely scrap fabric from other projects.  Absolutely zero brand new fabric was used to make these blocks 😸

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Good Morning....

Good Morning Internet Friends!

"Sew" this week has been a very busy week and it is finally over and the long weekend can begin.

No blog posting this week as I only had one day off before working an extra overtime shift and then resuming my normal days of work.  My kidney stone decided to make its presence felt this week as well and for some reason the asthma flared up as well.  I really need to stay in my bubble.  🤣

I agreed to make this bag for a neighbour who cannot sew.  Not a fan of the design or fabric so will push through it quickly:

TAH DAH!!!!

There is a zippered pocket on the front for notions and sock needles.  Roomy pockets inside and magnetic bag closure inside.  The back side also has two pockets that patterns will store nicely in.  Hope she enjoys it.
