Week Five!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" as of this evening I am caught up on the first four weeks of the 2018 52 Week Block Challenge hosted by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop:

Now I know it is week five, but that still gives me 6 days to get Week 5 Block done and still be on task.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Canadian Moment....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

While my son was at swimming lessons today I enjoyed a bit of time to myself that I am referring to as my Canadian moment.

I had my Tim Horton's Steeped Tea and was knitting away on my Joji Starting Point Wrap of which 4 of the 5 skeins are from Canadian dyers:

Grey Sparkle - Sweet Georgia Yarns

Dark Blue Sparkle - Julie Asselin

Turquoise - Ancient Arts

Variegated - Ancient Arts

Only the Mid Blue Sparkle is not a Canadian Dyer.  That skein is one that I picked up last year Vogue Knitting Live last year in Las Vegas.  The yarn is from Forbidden Woolery.

Now I supposed it would have been more Canadian to be knitting this in a hockey arena, or a curling rink, or better yet while Ice Fishing, but this was the best I could do.

Saturday Fun

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Sometime late last evening the snow finally stopped falling.  I actually had a FUN day in the snow.  First of all it was kind of fun to drive to work fresh snow on the roads.  At one point the Focus felt like it was off roading in the snow. ☺

This afternoon kiddo and I headed out to the River Valley with the dog.  We spent 2.5 hours out in the snow.  Part of that was that it took longer to get any where!  There were drifts in the Valley that were 2+ feet deep and so hard that I could stand on top.

Kiddo and Dog had a great time:

Back at home we made hot chocolate and for dinner we had Turkey chili with all the trimmings; corn chips, avocado, green onions, salsa, sour cream, and sharp cheddar:

So yummy and filling.

After dinner I spent a bit of time in my craft room and assembled another A and B arc set for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt.  I think I only have two more sets of these to make before next weekend!

More Rings!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

It's Finally Friday!!!!!  After being ill last week and still not feeling 100% this week I am super excited about the weekend.

This evening my son had an extracurricular school event "sew" that meant I was home alone for almost 4 hours.

Guess what I did???

I made another set of the A and B arcs for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt.  I am not usually a fan of Batik fabrics but I really love the vibrant colours and look of the fabrics for this quilt:

TAH DAH!!!

I just might be able to get all of the rings sewn for class next week at Sew Divine

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

This Time????

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my day off so that meant errands and appointments.  A VERY busy day.  It was made better though by a friend of mine who lives close to one of the places I had to be and made me a soup and sandwich lunch.  The soup was so filling that I could not eat the sandwich so she packed it for me.  I will have it for lunch tomorrow.  🍞

One of the errands I did was dropping of a couple of quilts to be long armed.  The lady I dropped them off to did a quilt for me about 8 years ago and then I sort of lost contact with her.  She now lives about a 10 minute drive from me.  "Sew" excited.

The quilts I dropped off for her were quilts that I waited to have done for 22 months (seriously)!!!  As part of my New Year commitment to myself I have decided to really work my my mantra of "Ask Once".  If it does not happen then I will do it myself.  Since these quilts were still not done I simply asked for them  to be returned to me.  Two weeks in the garden shed and with a bit of unscented Febreze and they were good to go:

They are now in the cue to be done.  Sew" excited!!!

Block 38

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Day Three of back to work.  Still not feeling completely well.  Have given myself a 6/10 ranking.  Good news....symptoms have not got worse.  Bad news....symptoms have not got better.

There was a Quilt Guild Meeting this evening for preparations for the Quilt Show this spring.  Due to other commitments I will not be a lot of help for the actual quilt show, but I showed up to the meeting tonight to offer support as I can.

Not much crafting time when I got home but I have decided to take a little "ME" time every day.  "Sew"......I went down to my craft room and made:

TAH DAH!!!!!   This is block 38 of the 52 Week Quilt Block Challenge hosted by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop for 2017.....alas.....I am behind.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Another Set......

Good Evening Internet Friends.

I'm starting to pick up speed on making these A and B arcs for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt.  This evening after piano lessons, groceries at Costco, and getting prepped for work and school tomorrow I spent a bit of time in my craft room.

Here is what I made:

Both arcs were completed in just over an hour!!!

I know I still have an ominous amount of these to make, but it just might be possible.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Back at It...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was back to work.  I will give myself a solid 6/10 health rating for today but that is all.  I was very tired by the time I arrived home this evening.

After a bit of a rest, dinner and some household chores I finished one set of the quilt blocks I am working on for my Flowers for my Wedding Ring Quilt:

I have always wanted to make one of these and when I saw that Sew Divine (one of my favourite quilt shops) was having a class --- you can likely guess I signed up for the class IMMEDIATELY!!!

Now to finish 7 more of these sets containing 16 of these arches before next class....😕.....maybe I can accomplish this goal.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sunday "Fun"Day

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Back to work tomorrow and after being off for a week with Flu I am excited to be going back.  😊

Today was a sleep late and no real plans kind of day.

This afternoon kiddo and I headed out into a different part of the River Valley than usual.  We are fortunate to live just a couple of blocks north of the River Valley so there is always easy access.

The temperature was perfect and we even got to watch one of the grain trains go over the truss bridge.

This evening I finished my second block to catch up on the 4 Patch Star block as I was toooooooo ill last weekend to complete one:

Block 19

Block 20.

I LOVE making these blocks.  I love the challenge of getting the points "just right" and I love the using up of my stash to make these blocks.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Roll Call......

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

Yes, I am present and accounted for.

Despite getting my Flu Shot, I succumbed to Flu.  I am thankful that I did get the shot as for the past week I have been ridiculously sick.  At first I thought it was a really bad asthma attack.  As the day wore on I felt worse and then worse and over the next three days I felt worse every day.  I did attempt at one point to return to work but was physically exhausted after only a few hours and the pain relievers and fever suppressant had stopped working.  By mid this week I decided to go see my Family Doctor.  She assessed and determined that I had flu but also swabbed me to prove it.  😓😰

Over the past week I have just gotten more and more ill.  Today has been the first day that not only did I get out of bed, but I showered, got dressed (not pajamas), ate three meals (most days was extra buttered toast - soft that way, and warm tea), and have not gone for a nap since I woke up this morning.

"Sew".....as you can likely guess......I have not been well enough to get out of my own way and have certainly not done any kind of crafting.

I will show you my latest treasure acquisition from just before I got ill:

This is a Valentine's Knitting Package that I designed. Chocolate themed zippered pouches and Chocolate Cherry yarn from Ancient Arts!

I really am hoping to have the energy tomorrow to get started on a project with this yarn.

"Sew" Behind...

Good Late Evening Internet Friends.

I am beginning to think I need to go on some kind of a fibre diet because I repeatedly bite off more than I can chew and have more on my plate than I can finish.

This evening I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room with my scraps and created Block 18 of my 4 Patch Star Blocks:

TAH DAH:

Now off to see what else I can get into before I head to bed tonight as I do work tomorrow.

An Almost Finish....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

Lots of last minute errands and start to think about back to work and school next week.

One of the errands I did was get my Raise the Roof Quilt top along with sewn backing to the long arm quilter.  In four weeks this will be all done.  Oh wait....then I have to still put the binding on.....

For today I am just happy to think of it as completed and that it has moved to the next stage of the quilting process.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Crafting Attention Deficit.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" as you likely know by now I really do struggle with getting anything completed on time because I start something else.

This week I have been trying to catch up on my Flock of Geese Blocks, but.......the new 52 Week Block Challenge from A Needle Pulling Thread started:

This one will all be in reds and whites, however, you know how much I LOVE navy and I have a lot of those scraps too......."Sew".....you just never know what I might do.  Heck, even I don't most of the time.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Distracted Catch Up

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Out and about again with my son today.  The weather was warm again so it made for a wonderful time outside.

This evening I planned on making more of the Flock of Geese Blocks, but since I had the perfect scraps for a Star Block I made a Star Block for the quilt I should have finished a year ago:

Not sure which block this will be in the sequence but let me assure you that I am still well below 52 Blocks for this quilt as well.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

More Catch Up!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

The weather is warmer and as such my son and I spent some time outdoors today.

After hot chocolate this afternoon I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room.  I sorted through some more of the scraps and cut a few of the sizes I need for some of my scrap blocks.

Then I made 4 (yes four) Flock of Geese Blocks.  At this rate I might be finished last years quilt by March:

TAH DAH!!!!

"Sew" Exciting.

Catching Up for the New Year

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" today I decided that I should catch up on some of my old projects before I get too far into my new ones.

This evening I made another of the Flock of Geese Blocks:

Not sure what number of the sequence this block is but it is NOT block 52.

Hope this inspires your own creatvity...
