More Rings.....

Good Evening Internet Friends.

The weekend is over and it is back to work tomorrow.

Although my blog posts do not show it I am faithfully chugging along on my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt.  As of this evening I have completed 24 of the 49 blocks that I will need for this quilt:

The process is getting easier and I am still very proud of myself and that my ring points are matching up!!!!  YAY Team ME!

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Kathy's Day Off...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was my day off during the work week.

I had BIG plans for the day, but it turned out to be just a really nice day.  I will have to do the BIG things on the weekend.

After dropping my son off for school I stopped by a friend's house for tea and scones.  YUM.

Home then to wait for the alarm company in the 4 hour window they had given me.  It was not a hurry up and wait as the tech was here 20 minutes into the time window.  I really do love my house alarm company.  They have really good customer service.

Afterwards I had a nap because the dog and the cat were both napping in the sunbeam and I did not want to disturb their siesta.  🐈🐕

Once I had my nap I decided to go pick up my 2 new skiens of self striping Biscotte Yarn in colours that were specially dyed for River City Yarns.  On the way home I decided to make a minor detour and stop by the new location of Earthly Goods.  Had a lovely chat with the owner and picked up (of course) a couple of fabrics I HAD to have:

Here are my treasures for today.  The fabric has music notes in it!!!!  The yarn has fuchsia in it!!!!

I think I shall make another of the Professional Tote bags with these fabrics.

Now I should go work on some of my current projects, but these are "sew" pretty to admire.  Thankfully the weekend is coming...

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Thirty Five Minutes....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Home from work.  Left overs for dinner.  Out the door and onto the freeway to get to extracurricular activities.  Stop for weekly grocery trip at Costco.  Line up for fuel at Costco as they are a Top Tier Fuel and significantly cheaper than the other Top Tier stations.  Back on the freeway.  Home.  Unpack groceries.  Take out the trash and recycling.  Walk the dog.  Clean up after dog.  Kiddo gets ready for bed.  Unpack lunches and start to prep for lunches tomorrow morning.  Fold last load of laundry from yesterday.

All done and all is quiet....... so I took 35 minutes to myself and made another block for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt:

Points all match, seams are straight and my time on making each of these is improving.  "Sew" happy.  Now off to bed for a few hours of sleep.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Over.....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well, the long weekend is over and it's back to work and school tomorrow.

Laundry and house cleaning kept me busy today.  On another of my rampages to clean out clutter that is not necessary.

This evening after the millionth load of laundry was finished I did take some time in my craft room and made another 3 blocks for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring Quilt.  I now have 19 of the 49 blocks made:

I am starting to get my groove with these.  It used to take me almost an hour to make one block.  These three were made in just a few minutes over an hour 😸.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Moving Along....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

So far this weekend kiddo and I have accomplished not a lot of anything other than some marthon tele watching.

I did spend part of yesterday and some of today in my craft room and as of this evening I can proudly say that I have 16/49 blocks made for my Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt.

I am especially proud of myself for this quilt because it is a quilt I have always wanted to make.  The second reason I am super proud of myself is for how well my points match up.  I am not usually a fan of batik fabrics and this is my first time using them.  I was once told by another quilter that the points on her quilt did not match because batiks stretch and are hard to work with.  Welllllllllll...........

This is making me super happy 😼.

Here are the completed eight blocks from this weekend:

Points all matching!!!

Week 37!

Good Late Evening Internet Friends!

DO NOT re-set your clocks or calendars!

Now that I have my 2015 Churn Dash Block Challenge hosted by A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop I am motivated to get my 2016, and 2017 versions of these quilts done.

Meet Block 37 of the Star Block Challenge from 2016:

TAH DAH!!!

I am choosing to focus on one task at a time now to try and get caught up on these projects "sew" wish me luck.......the long weekend will be here and gone before we know it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Valentine's Day.

Late last evening I decided that I could not possibly make the number of chocolate hearts that my son wanted for his classes for Valentine's Day.  Not one to admit defeat though I opted for something that if I just got up a little early (okay an hour) this morning I could still pull off; marshmallows.

TAH DAH!!!! Two pans of marshmallows were cut up, sprinkles added and dusted for off to school.  As usual they were a hit.  The recipe is from Butter Baked Goods and is my all time favourite marshmallow recipe.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Fourteen Years...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today is 14 years since I was pulled by the jaws of life from my F150; unconscious and 13 weeks pregnant.

My son and I are both fine and doing well.

Two years ago I found this panel and coordinating fabric.  Along with some Kona Solids from Sew Sisters I made the panel into a quilt:

Unfortunately the finished quilt top was "losted" (yes a made up word but fits the situation) to me.  Recently I was able to get it back and a fabulous long arm quilter (she has done quilts for me years ago) who is part of my local quilt guild long armed it for me and had it completed for me yesterday in honour of today.

I LOVE how it turned out:

I am "sew" intrigued with how the checkered area points all match and the stitching corresponds to it.  😻😻😻

Sunday Funday....

Good Evening Internet Friends....

I can't believe the weekend is over.  Thankfully it is a three day work week this week followed by a 4 day weekend for me😎.

Today of course was back to reality; laundry, get dinners prepped for the week, lunch box items prepared and readied, house work like dusting and wood oiling the furniture and floors and getting son to and from swimming lessons (I did knit a bit while he was at swimming). 🏊

This afternoon I baked Coconut Oatmeal M & M cookies for our lunch boxes this week:

Okay......between kiddo and I there might not be enough left to last the week....🍪

Now I think I shall retire with my knitting and see if I can get another couple of rows completed on a sock that the cat attempted to take a part 😠🐈.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Sew Busy Saturday

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Today was probably the kind of day a Saturday should be 😺🛌.

I slept late, had a leisurely breakfast and did not really accomplish a whole lot of anything.

I spent some time in my craft room and made another 4 of my Flowers for my Wedding Ring Quilt blocks:

I LOVE how awesome these blocks are and how perfectly they fit together.

For Dinner I made Dill Pickle Soup from a jar of  our home made pickles and kiddo and i just may have finished the jar as well:

So YUMMY.  🍜

After dinner we went to the Ice Castle.  We went in the evening so that it would be lit up and pretty and were even there for fireworks at 2100 hours.  It was FABULOUS!!!  🎆

It was really pretty and we will go again next year.

Now, it is time to warm up with some more hot tea and think about getting a good night sleep.

Block 36...

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew"  I have "sew" many cool things in my craft room just waiting for me embark or complete them and that is what I am setting about doing.

This year I am still focusing on taking care of ME first and then others.  Now that my 2015 52 week block challenge quilt has been returned to me and I have had it quilted I am feeling motivated to complete my other 52 week block challenge quilts.

This is Block 36 of my 2016 52 week block challenge quilt:

TAH DAH!!!  Yet again another pretty completed completely from the scrap fabric pile.

Birthday Cards!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Well........you guessed it!  I am making them tonight:

Happy Birthday Everyone! 🎂

Chocolate!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

As you likely know I am a HUGE fan of Milk Chocolate!

Every month as part of the Membership Committee of the Sherwood Park Quilt Guild in addition to Birthday Cards I always try to have some home made tasty treat.  This month since Valentine's Day is almost upon us I made Chocolate Hearts.  I used my stash of Lindt Couverture Chocolate and made 98 chocolates:

TAH DAH!!!!

Yes there are more than I require right now but I still need another 120 for my son for school next week💗

Then in typical Kathy fashion I needed some way to gift these to everyone so I wrapped them.  I was very fortunate that another lady from Quilt Guild came over for a soup lunch and help me package and wrap all 70 for Guild:

It was not a quick project but MUCH quicker with her help of which I am most grateful.  😼

Multitasking....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Super proud of myself this evening as I actually got a couple of things accomplished ☺

First off I was craving Lemon Poppy Seed Cake all day so when I got home I made a Lemon Poppy Seed Cake:

Extra Yummy and of course just what my waist line needed.....

While the cake was baking I actually wove in the loose ends of my Boxy Dishcloth.  I finished this dishcloth a very long time ago but could not use it because the ends were not woven in and that just seemed to ominous to do.

TAH DAH!!!  In reality it took me longer to find the crochet hook than it did to actually weave in the ends.

Voila.....two creative endeavors accomplished this evening.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Gimme Back my Weekend....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

Alright!   Seriously!!!   I want my weekend back.  Today was that day where although it was bitterly cold still had to take the dog for his long walk, take my son to swimming lessons, make dinner, get lunch items baking etc done for the week and of course laundry and wash to floor too.

I did manage to make waffles for breakfast this morning and that was about the extent of my creativity...

At least they were delicious!

All Day......

Good Evening Internet Friends.

"Sew" I attended the Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt class at Sew Divine today.

Here is what I accomplished after all day (6.5 hours) in class:

Here's hoping that this is just a learning curve and the other 45 blocks go together perhaps a little quicker otherwise I might be finishing this quilt in the new millennium.....

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

Ready.....Set....Sew!!!

Good Evening Internet Friends!

In typical Kathy tradition I finished my sewing home work just hours before class tomorrow morning.

Here are my 49 A and B arc sets for my Flowers for my Wedding Ring quilt.  I am taking this class at Sew Divine.  I have always wanted to make one of these quilts and on top of that the class is offered on Saturdays and is close to my home.  Perfect!!

Here the arcs are in all their glory before they become ring blocks.

"Sew" pleased with myself to actually be doing this.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...

It's Back....

Good Evening Internet Friends!

"Sew" very excited as this evening after dinner I picked up one of my quilts that I sent out to be long armed.  This quilt has had quite the adventure.  It waited for almost two years to be quilted.  I actually thought it had been taken from me as I had lost track of where it was.  In January when I got it back I aired it out and then took it to a local long arm quilter who had done quilts for me previously.  She called me yesterday that it was ready:

Tomorrow I shall pick up some binding for it.  The entire quilt top is made of scraps and for that I am super proud of myself.

Hope this inspires your own creativity...
